Very handy for York - but feels like the countryside

Had a 4 night stay last week and really enjoyed it. The pitches are a great size and the ground is fairly flat. Amenities small but perfectly formed and the information hut was useful. Buses into York every15 Mins and the designer outlet is very near. On the other hand, it's close to a farm shop (excellent quiche!) and country cycles or walks. Have already recommended it to friends and will go back again.

Excellent site

Visited here for 3 nights and was greeted by Gina the owner. Really friendly and helpful with information about buses, walks, cycle routes. Unfortunately the bus company Arriva was on strike but we got taxis into York and back. On Sunday we cycled to Selby a flat, relatively easy 24 mile round trip on a B road. You can normally use a cycle track, previously a railway but work was being done this weekend so no access. Lots of really pretty villages on the way with lovely cafes and pubs. The site is really quiet and massive! No toilet/shower but we have everything we need on our unit. Cannot fault this site and very reasonable at £18 per night. Gina kindly let us stay on site a bit longer on our last day to save us clock watching whilst out cycling

Brilliant Site, just what I wanted during these strange covid times, Gina & Gary have done a very good job. This site is just South of York just off the A19, its has a bus stop that is 200 metres walk from the site, with a regular 15 minute service into York City Centre. Its an all grass site, flat, well marked out plots, with EH points. Lots of alcohol gel points at the drinking water point and Elsan point. Access is by a gate, you get the access code on arrival. Gina & Gary are very friendly, and will give you a good brief on arrival. Cost per night is £ 18 pounds, with electricity, and awning. Will come back to this lovely site, only thing is the mobile phone reception is poor for some providers.

Ideal for visiting York

Used this site for our first visit to York. Easy access into the site. Ideally placed with a good regular bus service into York. We also cycled into York-partly on the main road and then we picked up the cycle lanes. Flat site with 12 pitches. We were there over a bank holiday and it wasn’t full. There is some traffic noise. Definitely use this site again.

New Well Laid Out Site With Good Access To York

Access to the site is easy, no narrow lanes, and a wide turning splay in. As a result there is some road noise from the adjacent lane but this is not continuous and should not put you off from coming. Like the previous reviewer we stayed in early August when there was a larger than expected occupancy of the site. Yes there are 12 bays but not all are used at any one time and it gives the owners flexibility and the ability to rest bays so that grass can regrow where it has suffered from die back due to groundsheets. As for the flames from the barbecue referred to by the earlier reviewer this is something they should have raised at the time with the members of the club using the barbecue we would have done. Access to York via the park and ride or via the normal bus service is exceptional. The site does not have a picturesque view across a Yorkshire valley or moor but it does have a very good access to York and the Aircraft Museum. The owners are very friendly and helpful and it is a site to which we would return.

To close for comfort

Was quite surprised at the amount of bays at this site,12 in all, we felt a bit hemmed in and there was only about 3ft between caravans in front, also got bit worried when campers next door had a barbecue going and flames were shooting up in the air they were both in the camper van.The field itself is fine owners have made a good job of waste water toilet waste, rubbish, all behind a fence which is good, road noise is audible during the week.Owners friendly and gave lots of information on arrival, lock in and out of gate a bit fiddly. We wouldn't stay again because we like a site which only has 5 units on,not 7 which was on when we visited.

Ideal for visiting York and surrounding area

The site is easy to find, just off the A64 and well signposted. Gina met us at the gate and gave us lots of information for visiting York plus some extra valuable information for our visit to York Racecourse for a concert we had booked. The site is flat and well laid out with your own sectioned off pitch. Water and bins etc behind a screen and solar lights at night time. There is a gate through to the adjacent road which is a short walk to the bus stop on the main road into York. We used the bus every day which is very frequent and takes about 15 mins. I would definitely recommend this site and will use it again if we come to York.

Perfect site for York & Surrounding Areas

We stayed for one night on Saturday 4th May as we had an event to go to in the centre of York. The location was perfect for this, with a bus stop available a few minutes walk from the site. Gina greeted us on arrival and was extremely helpful with an information pack and advice. The site is also probably the best laid out one we have been to, with extremely spacious pitches, sectioned out so there is no confusion. We will definitely be back, with our dog, and for longer next time, as there are lot of public footpaths nearby, and just a 30 minute stroll to the pub in Deighton.

Perfect for visiting York

Enjoyed a five night stay at Crockey Hill Caravan Park over a gloriously warm Easter 2019. A perfectly positioned site with easy access from the A64 (South-side of York). Individually separated pitches with helpful solar lighting to mark each pitch, and good fresh water, waste water and chemical disposal points plus good recycling system all in place. We sited on the nearest pitch to the wide entrance gates and found the traffic noise not at all intrusive. Gina (owner) not only presented a helpful ‘visitors pack’ on arrival, but also checked on our well-being over our few days stay. Kath’ and I will definitely return, and wholeheartedly recommend this site to members

Great CL

Lovely hosts, all info you need for area is given on arrival. A little wet when we visited but we pitched close to side gate giving access to adjacent road which is noisy in the morning. (The tarmac is bad right outside this point causing the rattling noise from lorries.) It will wake you about 06.00hrs 5min walk to bus stops. If returning when dark you will need a torch. Wouldn't hesitate to stay in the future, owners have plans to carry on with improvements so it will only get better. You should stay here...
