Excellent base to visit York City and surrounding area

We stayed here for 3 nights in October to visit York City, very good access and easy to find as it is just off the A19 Selby road. The site is simple and tidy with all the standard basics, no lighting so torches are needed and a long water tank filler hose as the tap is higher than normal at 1200mm (4ft). There is some traffic noise but that is to be expected if you want a side handy for public transport. There is a bus stop about 400m away on the A19 with busses every 15/30 mins up to 11.15pm direct to the City center & the Designer Outlet about a mile away, take your bus pass if you have one for free travel. The owner met us as we arrived with lots of good advice, they do not live on site so that is why they ask you to phone when you arrive.

Not much not to like.

We recently stayed for 4 nights on this quite new and well thought out basic site. No toilet or shower but fine for a short stay. Water and waste disposal well shielded from view but easy to access. Grass short and cuttings collected. EHU's well within reach on all spacious pitches, which are segregated by a low wooden fence. The site is only lit at the water and disposal area as and when you activate the detector otherwise complete darkness. Traffic noise from the road is at its worse between 7am and 9am and made up of mixed traffic. during our stay this was made worse by a pair of tractor and trailer outfits making 5 or 6 trips an hour from 6.30am carrying beet/turnips or similar loads for most of the morning, but I presume this would not be experienced out of 'season' it was however annoying to be wakened by them each morning while we were there. I wouldn't hesitate to use this site again and recommend it without hesitation.

Cracking Crackley Hill

If you want easy access to the city of York you can do no better than stay here. Gina and Gary offer a warm welcome, plenty of practical information about accessing the local area and a clean well appointed site. There is very obviously a focus on customer care with this couple. We went into York by bus on the two days we stayed here and it couldn’t have been easier. We will stay here again and look forward to meeting Lizzie the dog on our next visit.

Great CL

As has been said previously, a great site for visiting YORK. Easy entrance (double gate) even for a large outfit, level field and well built facilities which do the owners credit. I understand that the owners are working to install EHU (we stayed for 3 nights in June 2018).

A great place for accessing York.

Crockey Hill, is a great stepping stone into the City of York, with a regular bus service close by (every 15 mins) stopping at the designer outlet en-route. Gina and Gary make you feel very welcome and supply you with all the information required. The field is relatively flat and the waste facilities spot on.......no need to say we're back there soon. Thanks again Gary and Pat......club members.

Just what a CL should be

Perfect site for visiting York with busses every 15 minutes throughout the day and only slightly less frequently in the evening. Bus stop is only a short walk away. Extremely well thought out sanitary and waste disposal facilities. Very affable owner who provided lots of useful local information, including bus timetables. Brilliant value for those who are self contained and don't need electric hook up.

A lucky find!

We just wanted a one night stay for our evening out in York and this could not have been more convenient. York club sites get booked up quickly but this is brilliant alternative that is as convenient as walking to any hotel within York - and a better economic alternative. The field is secure, pretty and mostly very flat. Our motorhome did not need raising as we were good and level. The site is not far from the main bus route into York and buses run every 15 minutes up to a certain time, then on the hour of a Saturday night up to midnight. Very convenient to get in to York and back. The bus also stops at the Designer Outlet. Take a torch for the walk back to the site as the CL is down a country road. But not far to walk - which is why I have given it 4 for tranquility as some occasional low traffic noise is audible if you are outside, otherwise, traffic noise is extremely minimal. We had a lovely peaceful night and Sunday morning was just as tranquil. Overall the site is very peaceful and in a lovely spot. We were impressed by the wildlife - hares and swallows. Just beautiful. This is a new CL and so we had it all to ourselves but I expect this will change once it gets known. We definitely recommend it.

For Visiting York

A bus every fifteen minutes into York centre and back again couldn't be more convenient because parking in York is a expensive and the traffic jams are legendary. The field is level and the water/elsan facilities put all other certified sites we've visited to shame. We received a welcome pack with bus time tables. Access to the site is easy without the usual bumpy farm track and overhanging trees, etc.
