Great site

What a lovely site -easy to find, facilities all so well laid out, charming owner who came to see us when we arrived. Quiet and tranquil, lovely field to walk my greyhound in and happily for us, signs saying 'Dogs on leads' - always a bonus, my hound gets scared of loose dogs! Notice board with allocated pitch numbers so no confusion on arrival, fresh water tap in an easily accessible place, nice clean elsan emptying point - things like that make all the difference. Thank you Nigel -your site is lovely and we hope to return. Maggie & Mike

Rural and dead quiet!

If you want quiet, this was it. Level site, plenty of room to park . Facilities: Recycling Trash, Waste disposal ,Water supply ( decent pressure too!), a friendly hard working owner. A pleasure to stay. Certainly come back again one day.

Lovely site. Great location

We stayed for 3 nights in February 2023. A great stay, despite some miserable weather. A peaceful, very well maintained site in some beautiful countryside. Great walks all around, including to the charming village of Dedham and the banks of the River Stour. The site owner, Nigel, was very welcoming, leaving us to our own devices, but very helpful when needed. Thank you Nigel. We'll be back again in better weather!

Super CL

We stayed for one night in January as had to pick a trailer up nearby and this seemed a great place to stopover. It is a lovely little site with everything we needed and so peaceful. We walked across the fields into Dedham which is a really nice village and we stopped for tea and cakes with our dogs (all seemed dog friendly) which is a bonus. Nigel is friendly and welcoming and we would definitely go back as so much to see in this area and this site is well placed for this. Easy access to site and great tv signal as well as good 4G. If you are mostly self sufficient this is the site for you.

Great little find

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Cross Vale. What a brilliant find. Nigel the owner was so welcoming and happy to chat. The site itself is easy access and set behind the main house and outbuildings so away from any traffic noise. Dedham is within a short walk across the fields or a five minute drive away. I would thoroughly recommend this site to anyone looking for peace and tranquility. Being local to where I live, I will definitely book again. Val, Lesley and the dogs

A wonderful five day stay.

What a piece of good luck finding this great site. Booked for three nights without seeing any reviews and have been blessed with one of the loveliest sites we have stayed on. The peacefulness of the site has ensured that our sleep has been unbroken. It is well placed for visiting this lovely part of Essex and South Suffolk, that so inspired John Constable. Having travelled up from Cornwall it is unlikely that we will be back this way any time but we can highly recommend this site to anyone who enjoys nature in all its splendour (it is May and the birdsong and blossom are both stunning) and to enjoy Constable country. We have ended up staying five nights and to be honest were loathe to leave. Owner was welcoming and helpful. Nearby town of Dedham is delightful and offers museum, arts and craft centre, pubs, tearooms, pharmacy and a Co-op for all essentials including cash machine. Coffee at the Kitchen on the river just outside with riverside walking is a must.

Lovely peaceful location

This was my first stay on any site as a CMHC member. The owner Nigel was very welcoming and helpful. The CL is set in beautiful countryside with easy access to many areas of interest locally. I was not disappointed and will certainly book to stay again.

A great site in a rural location with plenty of great walks

My wife and I stayed here in January, the weather had not been good and Nigel very kindly put us on the hard standing. We had a great weekend and if you like walking this is a beautiful location for walks into the historic Dedham where there are plenty of places to eat and drink. I would recommend the Dedham Boathouse, the Old Bakery Cafe. Take the time to explore this historic village there is some evidence of Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman presence in the vicinity, By the end of the fifteenth century, when wealthy clothiers financed the building of the present church, Dedham had become a thriving industrial town. During the seventeenth century the wool trade was in serious decline but the town's importance as a centre for local trade was increased by its ecclesiastical significance. A lectureship had been set up around 1577 to preach the 'pure' word of God in this Puritan area and the lecture coinciding with the weekly market drew audiences from miles around. The Grammar School, where the celebrated painter John Constable was later a pupil, was founded at about the same time. Nigel could not be more helpful and added to the enjoyment of our weekend.

New years day 2022

First outing this year, new years day 2022. Cross Vale Farm, a lovely CL Site. Nigel and his wife are very welcoming, had a lovely chat with them on arrival. Beautiful walks into Dedham, stopped at Boat House Cafe for coffee and cake. Will be going back, actually already booked in for March. kate & Mark
