Great CL for plane spotting.

Our first time away so not sure what to expect. Michelle was lovely and really helpful. The site is very well maintained and all services were great and clean. Ideal site for plane spotting. Dog walk down a quiet lane very close. Road can be busy but didn't disturb us and much quieter at weekend. One night there were 5 vans but didn't feel crowded. Lovely view over adjacent fields. We will be back!! Hope all CLs are like this!

Great for watching aircraft at Coningsby

We stayed here three nights at the end of April. The site is clean and tidy and the pitches fairly level. Michelle was welcoming and the site was easy to find. There are no toilets or showers but we use our own so good for us. Dogs are welcome but there is no on-site dog walk and you have to use the verge next to the road for dog walking unless you go further afield. Electric meters are read on arrival and departure so you pay for what you use.  This is not a site for those wishing to find peace and quiet as it is next to a busy road which has traffic from early morning and also due to aircraft noise from Coningsby but this was what we came for and it certainly delivered! We were able to watch spitfire, hurricane, Lancaster and typhoons practising their air displays and it was like have a private performance! Michelle is willing to share her knowledge of what is going on which was great insider info! During the few moments of quiet we watched large deer leaping across the field behind us, listened to birdsong and an owl came to visit close by one evening and hoot at us. We usually seek a more peaceful site but would certainly consider returning to this site again for the aerial entertainment.

not a place for peace and quiet.

This site is next to coningsby RAF station, the RAF Typhoons fly every day. the landing circuit is over the campsite. i was here 29/03/2013 on the Thursday one of the Typhoon's performed a display part of which was over my head, WOW. You enter the site off A road so traffic noise is a factor, I booked this site for the aircraft so noise wasn't a factor. The site is beautifully kept, the welcome is warm and genuine. Michelle is a font of knowledge about the airfield. Even though there are no toilets or showers, I would give it 10 stars if I could. I had to give a rating for peace and quiet, when the planes wern't taking off and landing, the road was quiet. it was peaceful!!!!!!

Great site for plane watching and surrounding sites

Michelle made us so welcome. We booked the site for it's location and the spectacle of the typhoons. Which didn't disappoint. Shame we have to score peace and tranquility as it has to be low as that is not why you stay. Lovely large pitch - we were on "Spitfire" . Facilities clean and tidy.

Great site

Just spent 3 nights at Dakota Park. Absolutely loved it. I booked this site specifically so I could watch the planes close up. I wasn’t disappointed either. Yes it can get very noisy….I’ve never heard of a fighter jet that isn’t noisy…but I knew that was going to be the case when I booked so it didn’t bother me. To be honest you sort of get used to the noise. Watching the Typhoons coming in to land but just touching their wheels on the runway before shooting back up into the sky is a great sight. We also got to see one of the display pilots doing his thing one day. Barrel rolls, super sharp turns, flying upside down…very skilful flying. We had our dog Blue with us and he wasn’t bothered in the least by the sound of the jets. The site itself is a lovely well kept site with each pitch named after different planes. They are all grass standing pitches but well drained. Michelle was a lovely hostess and she should be proud on keeping such a well looked after CL. This was my first visit to Dakota Park but I will definitely be back.

Typhoons to the right of us, Typhoons to the left of us!!

Just spend a very pleasant three nights here. This site exemplifies the variety of CLs, and that each has their own USP. In this case, it's the planes! We saw loads of Typhoon jets going over each day, they seem relatively low and very loud, and very fast!!. We saw some other planes on Sunday, and today as we were leaving we saw a Lancaster take off. The site is short grass, well drained, marked pitches. Not the largest CL we have ever been on, but all 5 pitches were taken and it did not feel cramped. Other reviews mention the road - yes, it is busy and as Lincolnshire is an agricultural county, lots of tractors & trailers, and food lorries. We found it went quiet at night, and our sleep was not disturbed. (We were on the Spitfire pitch next to the road) Cost - £18, inc 10kwh of electricity. Extra electricity used is paid for in addition. We used about half our "allowance" with low wattage kettle and hot water. You are just round the corner from the Battle of Britain Fleet visitor center, which is also where you can see lots of the planes on the ground (there is a road side viewing area) and taking off. If you are exploring the extensive aviation history of Lincolnshire, this site is a must.

Fantastic Site

We have just spent two nights at Dakota Park and are already wishing we had booked longer! Michelle was very helpful when we booked, on arrival and throughout our stay. The site itself is extremely well looked after and overlooks fields to the East. There is a very nice atmosphere at the site and the other visitors were all very friendly and equally happy with their stay there. It is superbly located for RAF Coningsby and the jets fly overhead which is breathtaking. There is a lane which takes you to the edge of the RAF base 5 mins walk away, or the aircraft spotters car park is 4 miles away and big enough for motorhomes. There is lots to see and do in the area and we can't wait to return!!

Noise of road

Well this site is definitely not peaceful day or night. Its right next to a very busy fast road. The traffic never stops. Dogs are welcome but there is no where to walk them. The site is kept up to a very high standard. But we certainly won't be going back.

Nice place to stay.

We had a very enjoyable week here last week, Michelle is such a good host very helpful on arrival. She has good knowledge on what is flying and when. Well worth a visit to Lincolnshire Aviation Centre at East Kirkby and BBMF at Coningsby. Thank you Michelle for a great week see you again soon.

Planes, planes, planes

Unless you have at least a smidgen of interest in aircraft, this may not be the CL for you. Ok that’s made that clear, this is a wonderful place to come if you like planes of all kinds and Michelle will make you feel very welcome. As the site is right on the edge of RAF Coningsby you will be experiencing the day to day running of this airbase. Typhoons will be in and out and as it is also the base for the BBMF you may well see their aircraft too, from the Lancaster, Dakota, Spitfire and Hurricane. If you want peace and quiet this is not the site for you but if you like a little excitement then call Michelle. We will definitely be back for another stay very soon.
