Impossible to contact and book

After reading the previous reviews for this site I thought it looked amazing and was hoping to book a few nights here on my way to the New forest. Unfortunately the owner is impossible to book with. Called numerous times over different days and there was no answer, emailed but got no reply, left a voicemail and she never called back. When I finally got hold of the owner she said she would call back in two minutes but never did and didn't answer her phone when I tried to call her back. To my surprise I eventually got a call from the owner at just gone 7am one morning but not to reply to my messages she was talking about her coach booking. Such a shame as looked like it could have been a beautiful place to stay unfortunately I don't think I'll ever manage to book to stay here.

Lovely site - owner is WONDERFULLY bonkers! Clearly cares about her site - very well kept & dog friendly. A few niggles but enjoyed our weekend!

Diana is wonderful and does so well with the upkeep of this gorgeous little site. There is a separate field which Diana allowed us to let our dog run in (all enclosed), lovely scenery (of the hill) and well kept pitches. A lovely pub which is a walk away (if your ok with doing steep hills) and lots of choice of bridle ways & footpaths for you to explore. The hill is on a slight incline, bring your wedges just in case you have to pitch on the slope. Electric points all in easy reach too and the water fills the barrels quick - always a bonus for me! The niggles... entrance would be easier to get in if the bins were put back down the drive but can understand that they are kept where they are for bin lorry to access. A family dog runs free, he's very friendly and didn't cause any problems but this could be an issue for some people. My biggest niggle is it could be more child friendly, not in the way that a play area needs to be put up, more in that I was told pup tents would be ok then asked for a donation to accommodate the 'clan' (2 teenagers and an 8 year old in 2 pup tents over 4 units...) kind of way. Still happily donated, some may not be too pleased with the comment made. Overall its a really lovely site and location. I would definitely return but perhaps without my 'clan' :P :P Thank you for a lovely weekend!

Relaxing stay

My wife and I stayed for several days recently and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is quiet and rural with great views of the surrounding countryside. While I would agree that access from the lane into the CL is tight, its very doable - must be if I, a novice tower with a Volvo XC60 and Coachman VIP 575 could manage it ! There are very enjoyable walks locally and the site is well placed to venture further afield. We will certainly be back !

In decline

We have stayed at this site a few times over the last 3 years and it is sad to say that the facilities are not up to scratch. Waste disposal is terrible and entrance to site very tight even for a small caravan. No greeting on arrival or departure. The owner always asking for free advice which can become annoying. Will not be returning.

Lovely relaxed cl

What a lovely little site this is, lane and access is a bit tight but no problem for a more experienced tower, we had no problem with our kuga and swift 550. Site is on a slight hill but with lovely views. The owner is very welcoming and the site is very quiet and relaxed with a beautiful resident barn owl, buzzards and deer. Lovely walks around the area and close to Winchester

Informal and Relaxed

We have stayed at Dell Croft twice. Diana is very welcoming and relaxed - I've never had a hug from a CL owner before! We like CLs that are informal and this suits us well. While staying there we visited Southampton, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Winchester, The Watercress Line at New Arlesford and had some very scenic walks on the South Downs Way and along the River Itchen. We have also enjoyed sitting on site enjoying the countryside views. We've seen all sorts of birds including buzzards and a barn owl and watched a pair of partridges walk around the field. Diana's hens also lay delicious eggs!

Very disappointed!

After reading the previous reviews we decided that this was the type of CL we always look for. But we were very disappointed! The CL was down a long narrow lane and not for the feint hearted and the narrowness of the entrance was not made any better by the owners Wheelie bins being in the way.... once down the drive we were confronted with a slopping field of very uneven clumpy grass. The whole site looked unkempt and uninviting! I am sure the owner is very nice as previous reviews stated, but she was out when we arrived and the builder on site did not know when she'd be back! We did not stay and would not recommend! As said......very disappointed

South Downs Hideaway

Spent a week here and fortunate to pitch on the hardstanding. Levelling blocks advised for two thirds of the site. As per the site description the gateway would be tight for larger outfits - our 'van is 7.2m and wouldn't have wanted to pull anything larger through the gate. Again the book directions to the site are advised rather than blindly following the satnav. Owner was very helpful with places of interest to top up our own research. Bike rides and walks abound. Would recommend.

Peaceful and Friendly

We were booked in for 5 nights but as we liked this location so much we extended our visit to 10 nights. We were pleasantly surprised with this “Smallholding” which was in the middle of nowhere with lovely views over green and undulating downs. I would say the access is a bit tight but doable even for a fairly large unit. Diana was the most friendly host we have ever met, she organised the morning papers to be delivered and as there are quite a lot of hens on site sold us some fresh eggs. The site offers 16 amp electricity, water and chemical waste facilities. No noise to speak of apart from some distant aircraft rumbling from “Beastley Eastleigh” alias Southampton Airport. Nothing to worry about. Winchester was about five miles away, we toured in the New Forest and the ride along to Petersfield on the A272 was really nice. Well worth another visit if we come to the part of the country. Highly recommended if you want peace and tranquility.
