Another superb stay

Have stayed here loads of times. Is fully serviced and very quiet. Well looked after and the owners are super friendly and helpful. Short walk into Sedgefield off road. Plenty of fab places to eat for such a small town - can recommend Julia and Sophias italian restaurant especially. Also a number of takeaways. Short walk across fields to Hardwicke Park which is a lovely well kept country park with plenty of wild life and a super little cafe. Within easy driving of seal sands, Durham, Seaham and Metro Centre amongst many other attractions. A number of cycle routes within easy access and also good walking. No dogs as its a working farm but that's not a problem for us. Will be back gain next year - hopefully!

Exactly as described

Excellent site with good sized serviced hardstandings, and refuse and chemical toilet emptying nearby. WiFi was very good. Follow the directions on the site's own website and you will not go wrong. Easy access with wide gates. There is some road noise from the A689, but only noticeable early morning, and you soon get used to it. A large folder with details of local attractions was provided, and proved very useful. Price at the time of our visit was £15 inclusive of 16amp EHU........very good value. Lots of places to visit in the area.

Another pleasent stay.

Again we have enjoyed a fantastic week break at Donnewell Farm. So easy to drive to from the A1, he site is clean well kept and the serviced pitches are spacious with the added extra of free wifi and satellite hook up. The site is within easy reach of some great on and off road cycle routes. In fact there is a route that runs virtually off road through to the coast at Seaham which is a lovely seaside town with a beach famous for its sea glass. Sedgefield has an abundance of great cafes and pubs offering a wide range of food priced to suit different pockets. This time we ate twice at Julia & Sophia. An italian restaurant cooking excellent and reasonably priced food. We hope to return for Christmas to enjoy a relaxing holiday.

lovely little site

We have stayed here 5 times so obviously we like it. The owners are very friendly and greet you with a welcome pack. Peter is a mine of information about the locality - anything you need to know he can fill you in on. Site fees are very reasonable especially for fully serviced pitches and the TV signal is good. There is a little noise from the A689 but after an hour you wont even notice it. Other than that it is a very peaceful site. A short walk along a disused road takes you into Sedgefield. There are several excellent tea shops/cafes, a well stocked Co-op, several pubs and takeaways plus a large Sainsburys close by. Durham, Middlesborough,Sunderland all a short drive away although Sedgefield also boasts excellent bus routes to all of them. There is a super Indian restaurant a short walk from the site - The Raaj - one of the best Indian meals I have ever had! Wynyard Woodland Park and Hardwick Park are close by for walking and NCR No.1 for cycling. Seaham is a short drive for beach fans + sea glass collectors and Dalton Park for shopping.

Fantastic Find

Just spent a week at Donnewell Farm (21st June to 28th June). We were visiting the area as we wanted to watch the British Cycling Championships at Stockton. When we tried to book at the caravan club site in Stockton (White Water) we found out the site was closed due to extensive work being carried out to improve it. We looked at other options and decided we would use a CL. This was our first CL so we did not know what to expect or how to book it. I sent an email and got a reply back from Peter who provided all the info I needed to do to make the booking very easy for me. As it turned out it was White Water’s loss and our gain. What an excellent site. When we arrived we were greeted by Joyce and Peter and Maisie (their lovely dog). We were provided with a folder full of leaflets for places to visit. I asked Peter about shops in the local area. He told me there was a Sainsbury’s and next to them was George Bolams. A visit to George Bolams is a must (fruit and veg, fish and meat, bread and cakes all at reasonable prices and very tasty). Later on in the afternoon when we had settled in Peter came to see us and check that everything was alright. We had another chat and Peter informed us that we could walk into Sedgefield down a traffic free lane which starts at the entrance to Donnewell Farm. All the pitches are hard standings and they each have their own water tap and waste water drain. Peter has erected a satellite dish and each plot has a point to connect to it.(so just take your sky box and cable to connect up). You can also get free WIFI just ask Peter for the password. Joyce and Peter are very pleasant and helpful. If you like dogs then give Maisie a stroke she loves it. Thank you for making our stay on your site very pleasant we hope to return in the future. Julie and Tom.

Ease of arrival/welcome

23rd April - 01st May 2016

On the morning of our arrival we were warmly welcomed by Peter and Family. We were given a “Holiday Guide Folder" containing up to date brochures of what to do and see in the area. This was a brilliant idea, providing very useful facts about places we were visiting. We experienced Winter weather conditions, not uncommon for this time of year, further convincing us that the choice of a site with hard standing and ease of access was sound. Thank you Peter for your local knowledge and advice about the roadworks during the weeks prior to our stay. We will return to this site. Linda & Patrick ....................................
