Second Stay Here

We are here for our second stay on this great CL. Owners as welcoming as ever. We appreciate the hard standing, serviced pitches, and the free wifi. We have had a lovely walk into Sedgefield, and enjoyed lunch at "No 4", a café/shop full of delicious things to eat! We will use this CL again.

A brilliant time on a 'Working Farm' CL

Just got back from 6 nights stay on this 'Working' farm CL. Owners very helpful and friendly, even lent us a satellite lead so we could watch Sky TV. All the pitches are fully serviced, even got satellite points and free Wi-Fi access. Each pitch is hard standing and very well drained as we had torrential rain a couple of times during our stay and the water disappeared quickly. The CL is at the back of the farm so the road noise was not a problem, would have been if the CL was in the front field. Plenty to see and do in the area so will be hopefully going back again next year. Not many CLs are fully serviced so this was a bonus but no 2 CLs are the same anyway. Will certainly tell friends about it. It was a shame that the weather was not good as I would have loved to walk down the fields to see the Suckler Cows and their Calves, but never mind there is always another time

A Bit Disappointed Really.....

Being a Club Together & dedicated CL user, when we decided what area we wanted to visit on holiday this year our first port-of-call was the online reviews. This made our decision for us. First, I would like to say that the family could not have been nicer or more welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are what I would class as the ideal CL owners. The noise from the road, I found was minimal - you will hear it but not enough to bother you or to interfere with sleeping (esp. as the road is quite quiet at night) - this comes from someone who lives in a very rural area! However, if like a nice view from your caravan, there is a view of a very tall hedge at the back of the caravan & at least in summer 2013, a view of the back of farm buildings, a Massive pile of rubble & a heap of farm manure to the front of the caravan. We spend most of the day out so didn't bother us but ..... My biggest issue was, despite their website showing 5 pitches, there is actually 6 and they were all in use for a couple of days of our holiday. Not only that, the rally field was used as an over-flow site with a further 3 caravans including some long-stay workman. They also share the same facilities as the site. The area of the CL at the time we stayed was also quite small as the area directly in front of the caravan (across the drive) was incorporated into the field as opposed to part of the CL. We felt very cramped when the CL had 6 caravans in as a result. Would love to love this CL but simply can't.

Lovely CL Site with Rally field

Lovely CL site with 6 large hardstanding and serviced pitches and also a Rally field with electric hook-up's. Site well maintained and information pack, for area, given just after arrival. Price quoted on booking was different to what he wanted to charge on arrival! Good area with several pubs in village (10minutes bike ride), some just drinking pubs, some serving food. Fantastic Community club in village with great value drinks-CAMRA members and families made extremely welcome. Also several shops and takeaways in village

Quality CLwith serviced pitches & free WiFi

Donnewell Farm is a good quality CL with large hardstandings and serviced pitches, ( each pitch has a tap and waste and a 16 amp EHU, and there is free WiFi.. The view is pleasant, and the atmosphere fairly quiet, it is close to a dual carriageway, but you an only JUST hear it. You get an information pack as part of your welcome, and we found there is actually much more to do in the area than expected so will have to come back ! Ten to 15 mins walk down an old road gets you into Sedgefield, where there are shops takeaways and several pubs, beyond the village there is a large country park called Hardwick Park http://www.durham.gov.uk/Pages/Service.aspx?ServiceId=6239 and we had a day in Hartlepool where there is a refurbished warship at the maritime museum which was very interesting.. http://www.hms-trincomalee.co.uk/

Glad that this is near to us

We stayed here in February 2013, in our motorhome. Very impressed with the whole set up. Some noise from the nearby A689, but other than that, a very peaceful site. We walked into Sedgefield for supplies, and there are buses to other places from Sedgefield. The pitches are large, and are completely hard standing. We were welcomed by the owner, who gave us a good pack of information about the local area. We will be using this CL again.

Suberb CL will use again.

We have just used this CL as a base to run in the Great North Run. The site is easy to find and is behind the farm. Each pitch has it's own drainage, water and 16 amp electric hook-up. All piches are hard standing but there is also a rally field. The owner cannot do enough for you and once settled in he appeared with a large folder full of things to do around and about. It is near to a dual carriageway so there is light traffic noise but it is not intrusive. You can walk to Sedgefield in around 10 mins using an old road that is gated at either end. Sedgefield has 5 or 6 pubs an indian take away, pizza shop, chinese take away, Co-op and a Sainsburys local. We tried the pizza shop and I must say it was great. We will definately use this CL again as there is so much to do around and about and it is a pleasure to stay at.
