Excellent facilities.

We used this site for one night on our way home from North Yorkshire. each site had own water and waste disposal outlets plus showers and we available if required. Booked online, paid in advance so very easy. very close to motorway you can hear a slight hum from the caravan but not annoying. lovely walks along the canal from the site perfect for dog openers. would use again.

Lovely CL at the Marina

This is our first time at Droitwich Spa Marina. Directions in the book spot on. Good welcome at reception. 5 hardstanding pitches which are fully serviced. New are two toilets with a shower, very nice and heated. The Eagle and Sun is a short walk along the canal, we had a lovely carvery there. In the opposite direction it is approx 1/2 hour walk into town.

A bit tired

Constant motorway noise - hard standing pitches have been covered in cheap hardcore - no bins on site so you have to go to Marina reception - feels like a secondary source of income to the Marina and not a very competitive price for what you get - location is good but won’t be returning

Good CL but lost enthusiasm now

I have stayed twice and I do live local in Droitwich so use the site to set up the caravan for longer trips or an event at the Rugby ground where we can make a weekend of it with friends. The pitches are ok with hardstanding but on setting up a small awning on Pitch 1 it was far from level. (The hardstanding in places is broken Brick and other such material) Electric and Water is very close so no issue. On my first ever stay I arrived at 2pm and had to park up while waiting for a motorhome to depart after 3.30pm it turned out it was one of the Boaters MH and he could not be bothered to move it until he was ready. (This location is all about the boaters and this CL is tired and afterthought in my opinion) on the second stay is it was nice and peaceful and no issue. We did not pay for facilities but prices had gone up from £15 - £18 between out stays (reasonable value if you use your van for everything bathroom related) I was excited to see a "Work in progress" expansion of the CL (possibly making it a full fledged Campsite and not tired anymore) and I often drive up have a walk up to see how its going. Sadly the owner is very over zealous on people parking on his property (all of the marina) and gave me a bit of grief today as I walked up with our little dog and whilst this is not part of the review it should noted if visitors arrive you may be challenged. (There is a council Car Park at the entrance to approaching road) I will focus on other CL's around Droitwich for my pottering with the Caravan from now on but if you need a central location to Droitwich and surrounding areas and like canal walks the site a OK option. I wish them well with the new campsite looking at the work done it could be very nice.

Serviced pitches

Pleasant enough site on terraced gravelled pitches each with their own electric, water and drainage. Access alongside fenced marina with showers at £5 a time which we declined. Eagle pub a short walk down opposite towpath but we didn't visit. Office open for payment 10-4 daily.

Fabulous CL!

Highly recommended. Lovely walks direct from pitch - we explored across field, along farm drive, back along the towpath past lock flight to the marina - canalside pub en route for good food and drink. Brilliant for dog walking, anyone interested in canals, engineering heritage and countryside. Some motorway noise but not enough to disturb - and v v easy and quick access to and from M5. Site is beautifully maintained by lovely friendly team and made to feel v welcome. The best sort of CL. We look forward to coming back.

Fabulous stay!

It is unusual for me to write a review of a site. Usually if it’s a great site there are enough positive reviews. If there are negative reviews, we usually choose another site. However Droitwich Spa Marina was exactly where we wanted to be for a family reunion. Prior to the review posted on 28th June we decided we’d book it as the reviews weren’t too bad. First positive on booking, excellent communication and information about our pitch, how to access the site, etc. This excellent customer service, and I won’t apologise for repeating myself, continued for the full 7 nights we stayed on the CL. We were stuck in traffic, we phoned ahead to say we would be late arriving, after the office had closed. We arrived and Marina staff had stayed on to ensure we knew where to go. Rare in our experience! Site is basic, hardstandings are hardcore, any awning etc has to go on grass. Pillar is between two pitches with power for both pitches & a tap (most Club sites you have to walk quite a way for a tap!) Elsan point and grey waste are sited on the small CL so again, not far to go. General waste disposal/recycling is at the entrance to the Marina which is a pleasant walk or can be organised for when going out for the day. We had our pitch from 29th June to 6 July. On travelling we read the damning ‘smelliest site’ review of the previous day and began to wonder if we had done the right thing. On arrival there was a smell of cattle, the hot weather probably not helping, but it was just a rural smell. There is pastureland surrounding the CL and Marina and the cattle during our stay weren’t in the same area each day. With our admittedly limited knowledge of farming we believe muck spreading isn’t done on pastureland so if others had witnessed this, it was done away from the CL site. We really loved this site, tow path walks to Droitwich Spa (about a mile) we were recommended the Gardners Arms on the tow path in Droitwich, (almost opposite Waitrose) it’s a pub & eatery, an experience, do try it! Walking the other way on the tow path the Eagle & Sun, a fifteen minute walk, a good carvery, both of these pubs offer inside/outside space. Sorry this has been a long post but we we had such a lovely stay, in a great place, that we wanted to reassure those, not of a sensitive nature, that it’s definitely worth a try. We will certainly factor it into our future plans.

Location, location.

Thought twice about booking having read the reviews but went ahead anyway because of the location - close to the things we wanted to do/see. We received a warm and friendly welcome at the Marina Reception and had no difficulty accessing it. We opted not to pay the extra £10 per night for showers etc. Very overpriced. This site is clearly labelled as a working farm so the tractor working nearby with a muck spreader was not a surprise. The resultant smell was unpleasant for us 'townies' but it is what farmers do at this time of the year when they can get onto the land while it is dry. We learned to live with it for our 3 days. Yes, the C/L is clearly an after-thought, the farm and the canal marina being the main businesses. The site photo shows the hard standings which have been made using re-cycled hardcore. Not very pretty but serviceable. The pitches could have been wider too. Not designed by a caravan-er? A plus is the electric and water supplies to each pitch. We didn't find a grey waste disposal but managed in the traditional way and helped alleviate the prevailing drought in doing so. The toilet emptying point was functional, better than I have seen on other C/Ls, but could benefit from a clean once in a while. A constant low hum of traffic from the M5 some distance away was evident but acceptable and offset by some very green and pleasant countryside. As to location, it was just fine. We cycled into Droitwich along the canal very easily and enjoyed this small town with its history and nice mix of old and new buildings. The National Trust's Hanbury Hall is a reasonable walk/cycle/drive away and worth a visit. So is Hanbury Church with its splendid views and a welcome supply of drinks, with an honesty box. Another short walk/cycle away is The Eagle and Sun pub that offered a very wholesome carvery at a great price. There seemed to be plenty of public footpaths to walk, although we didn't use them. Worcester City is 20 mins down the road and worth a look also. In summary, this is not a five star C/L (and never will be). Perhaps the owner should review the pricing policy for the shower block and ask a more reasonable rate? Despite this, for access to Droitwich and surrounding area it is worth considering, seasonal smells an' all.

The smelliest site we have ever encountered

I don't know how this site became a certified location. The club should review its vetting procedures. The site itself is a pleasant location and the standard charge is ok but if you want to use the marina facilities then the charge is just too much for the poor facilities offered. The pitches are ok - with water and electricity on a stand by the pitch. Grey water and chemical disposal is close by. BUT The site is located near to a group of farms and the smell from them is outrageous. It is very difficult to stay onsite because of this - it may be because of the hot weather but to me it seemed like a health hazard. I definitely would not recommend this site and would ask the club to review the procedure for bringing on board CL sites - they have failed badly with this one. Maybe they should ask a member to trial run some of these sites before taking them on. Sites like these don't do much for the club image.

Needs a little tlc

Stayed over a very wet weekend. Although hard standing, could just get van on with step on hard standing..grass very long around pitches....would have made all the difference to our stay if it had been cut. Hard to clean toilet cassette as hose for cleaning badly configured. Everybody on site like us seemed to be using marina facilities for an extra £10 per night, which although the facilities are good seems a bit much on top of £15 per night.. no grey waste disposal. Nice spot to walk/cycle canal.. site just needs some tlc to help out campers.
