Excellent site

We stayed on the site for 8 nights. The staff (Dom) were both friendly and helpful. The site is immaculate and the facilities were spotless, (all new toilets and shower). There was also washing/drying machines at a small charge. The site was very peaceful. Plenty of shops in Bovey Tracey and main coastal town a few miles from the site. Perfect. We'll be back! Thank you for a lovely stay. G & J Ardron

We'll be back

It’s interesting reading reviews of anything and certificated locations are no different. We don’t like full club sites because the pitches in our opinion are very close together and the atmosphere can feel very structured. So, we found this site very laid back with pitches well spaced. Previous reviewers have mentioned pitching under the trees to the right of the field. All the photos on the website show vans on the left. That’s because nearly all the EHUs are on that side, so that’s where we pitched. There are 7 EHUs so either this site breaks the rules of a normal CL or it’s licenced for 7. There is a large ok tree at the entrance to the site from the road, in fact the CL sign is nailed to it. We have a 7.5m van and had no trouble at all either entering or leaving the site. Very large campervans might find it more difficult. The site is managed remotely by staff from an office somewhere. Didn’t bother us, they were easily contactable by phone. If you are used to having your hand held at full club sites then this place might not be for you. There appears to be a programme of improvement by the new owners. When we were there the wifi wasn’t operating because it was due to be upgraded to fibre in the next few weeks. Not a problem to us as we operate through O2 4g which was plentiful! There are also new electrics going in. It appears the new owners are working very hard to get things set up to a very high standard. The shower and loos are accessible via coded doors. The shower is mains pressure and is unlimited ie no timer of coin meter. If people who use the site leave the facilities how they would like to find them the fact that they are not cleaned every day really shouldn’t be an issue. There is also a washing machine and tumble drier operated on an honesty basis. For a CL the facilities are impressive. Site is very well located for accessing Dartmoor, it’s only a 10 minute drive away. Bovey Tracey has a good range of small shops. The local National Trust property, Parke, has a brilliant café which opens daily and Thur, Fri and Sat for evening meals which are excellent but you have to book because it’s so popular with locals. The Parke estate is dog friendly with lots of walks and a river with easy access. When we arrived on the site there was one other van and they had booked an extra week because they thought the site was so good. We’re of the same opinion and have recommended it to friends and we will return, but not in August when I imagine the whole area gets swamped with people.

August bank holiday.

Our first stay on a cl, and our last! Entry to the site confusing and difficult with a big tree to negotiate. We were the sixth caravan on site; and instructed to pitch under the 60/70' oak trees which we did against our better judgement. We booked for eight nights but left two days early for fear of damage. Booked here based on reviews, but agree with the latest. Bins overflowing, unable to use shower due to no ventilation, toilets not maintained, site has quite a slope, drive entrance and whole area scruffy. It appears the pictures of the site are old ones.

Won`t Be Going Back

Sadly shall not be going back to this lovely site. New owners do not live on site, so everything is done by phone/text. Apparently staff, when occasionaly on site, are not supposed to speak to you. This we found when the "manager" was a few feet from us, and totally blanked us. Prices have now risen quite sharply too since we were there two weeks ago. Awnings £2 per night. Dog Bin overflowing all week. Rubbish area also overflowing. Very disappointing. We will not be there again to see if it improves.

Warning Under New Managerment!!!!

Recently returned from this CL; warning to all – this site is now under new management. There are a number of issues, these maybe due to the fact that the new owners are still finding their feet. One – the CL is not exclusive to club members, on several occasions overseas visitors arrived on the site. Two – the five-van rule doesn’t always apply, on one night there where a total of 7 Motorhomes and caravans. Three – the exclusive WC and shower facilities were also used by another motorhome parked around the back and by others working around the permissions. Also lack of toilet rolls and faulty lighting within the facilities. Four – the cesspit badly needed emptying, the stench was unbearable (Note - we have been club members for over 15 years and stayed on many CLs). We were advised that it was due to be emptied but wasn’t whilst we were there. Five – Total lack of arrival information, all we got was the code to the WC and shower, it was a case of pitch in the field and the rest was left for us to discover how and where things were. Could be a great CL if it was managed and run to the standard that club members expect.

A return visit...

We stayed again on this lovely CL for 6 nights in July. It is a perfect site, plenty of space, excellent shower and toilets facilities. Good to have wif, and handy for trips on to beautiful Dartmoor. There is a great pub in Hennock, The Palk Arms, we enjoyed a good Sunday roast there. We will certainly be returning....

Everything you need and want in a CL

We stayed here for two weeks in June 2017. A beautifully located peaceful site that is easy to access and has a very relaxed atmosphere. Facilities are excellent, thoughtfully organised and very well maintained. The owners are very friendly and helpful, but in a non-intrusive way, i.e. there if you need them, but otherwise leaving you to your own devices. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly visit again

A Perfect CL

We spent 5 nights at East Dunley, what a lovely spot, so peaceful and spacious pitches. The site is imaculate, as are the facilities. It was good to have a washing machine, as we were in the middle of a month away from home... Everything about the site is great, quiet, lovely surroundings, friendly welcome and good to watch the horses. We even go an evening of hay making..... It is very well situated for visiting the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, 10 minutes by car and you are at the car park at Hay Tor. We wished we had been staying longer, we will be back and next time for a longer stay.... Thank you Annie and Andy

Mini adventure!

We only stayed one night, but would happily return for a longer stay. The site is spotless and set in a very pretty location. Highly recommend it.
