Very peaceful

We made an overnight stop here en route across the country. We booked on the basis that it had a toilet/shower block, in a countryside setting, with hardstandings and it had some good reviews. Overall we found the site to be a nice stop-over but with a couple of points to be careful about. The hardstanding area was separated from the main part of the site by a hedge and was next to a barn and not very attractive. However, as the ground was very dry and no forecast of rain we took one of the grass pitches and it was very enjoyable. There is only one shower and one toilet, in a building which is a bit of a walk from the pitches and it was sometimes a bit frustrating to walk over to it only to find it occupied. On the other hand, the site is superbly placed for walking out into the countryside; there is a public footpath leading past the site which allows you to walk as far as you want to across very peaceful, pleasant countryside.

Hidden beauty

The arrival was rather daunting, are we on the right road, what a pleasant surprise ? as the approach is a sight to behold, its setting is second to none. A friendly welcome followed by an easy set up on level grass and plenty of space even though the full complement of vehicles were present. The shower and toilet facility are lovely and clean and within a short distance from the CL site. The site is secluded and no apparent noise very peaceful. There are horses which make the whole thing even more attractive, local walk maps are available in the toilet and are very easy to follow from the site through the fields and into the local area. Dog walking is completed with ease as again you nip through the trees into a dog friendly walk area perfect. The whole site gives a very professional appearance and I was very upset at not being able to stay longer but the nearby Grafham water did not cater for my needs. This area is an area of beauty and well worth a day out whether you are cycling walking or sailing, very expensive for a day pass to windsurf and hence I moved on but would highly recommend the CL site.

Fabulous site

A lot of thought has gone into this site and it's run by a very friendly family. The site has no passing roads so is very quiet and secured by the entrance gates operated by a code. The separate shower and wet rooms are immaculate and the little details like the tubs of flowers and pictures are lovely. There is an information board in the toilet with maps you can borrow showing the many public footpaths straight from the site. It's wonderful for anyone who enjoys Geocaching because there are several good series right on the doorstep. I'm just sorry it's taken us so long to discover this gem, can't wait to return.

Excellen CL site, in a tranquil and very quiet rural setting, ideal for walks, country pubs and access to Graffham Water.

We were very pleased to find a site in Northamptonshire that lay deep within the countryside. What was unusual was the absence of noise - no road, rail or air traffic at all. Within a couple of miles of Grafham Water and with direct access to Public Footpaths, it really is ideal for lovers of the countryside. The site is on a working-farm, one that is extremely well run and organised. This is reflected in the spotless hot shower cubicle and WC. The site area is enclosed within a screen of tall trees that provide all round shelter. It is flat and well drained and includes electric hookups, fresh water and a chemical disposal point. The reception of DTV signals was good, a standard roof top (Swift) aerial provided faultless TV. The use of coded electric gates to the site provided straightforward access to and from the site, while ensuring effective security. Of the twenty five or so CL sites at which we have stayed, this rates among the best.

Hidden gem a cracking CL!

We arrived and received a friendly and warm welcome from Mr & Mrs Williams, who explained where the facilities were etc. This site is 1st class and probably the best CL we've stayed at. The shower, with an abundance of hot water, and the toilet facilities were part of a converted stables and were immaculate. The grass area, which is the site area, was excellent. Unlike others we've stayed on not worn out or cut up, I'd be proud to have a lawn of such quality at home! The site was very peaceful, secure and would have no hesitation in recommending this site. We'll be back again.

A beautuful site and a lovely welcome

We have just come home from a lovely stay on this CL site. We wanted to write a review and couldn't believe the review written by sstcjames. They were either having a very bad day or were on a different site !! We were made very welcome by the owners who explained where everything was. The site is very well maintained and is surrounded by mature landscaped gardens. The electric gates at the entrance were brilliant, worked well and made the site feel safe and secure. The shower and toilet rooms are immaculate and the best we have ever used on a CL site. The waste / chemical emptying point is basic but fine. It was lovely to stay on a working farm and to see all the animals and we had some long walks straight from the site. A real find and we have already booked to stay again !

Ease of arrival/welcome

Very unhappy from start to finish!

What can i say the whole holiday was a disaster from the start!, called the site to ask what time we could arrive we was told any time is fine, arrived around 10am (with our 2 young children) was told we could not come on till 12 so had to sit about waiting, when we could go on they informed us that we were not aloud to park on the grass as it was wet, so we had to literally squash against 2 other caravans on the tiny bit of shingle they had this was a fire hazard! our awning was about 10cm away from the neighbours! when more people arrived on the Saturday, the site owners were very rude to us and the already there neighbours asking us to MOVE our cars, not so much as a please!, when we had moved to another area the owner again was rude saying move on explaining we was loading the car with the children's stuff to go out for the day her words were "well it wont make any difference moving your car out the gates" . the people who arrived that day were put back onto the grass, so how comes the 3 caravans already there were not put on the grass? . There are 3 other caravans on the hard standing which are permanent so i'm sure that breaks the rules of a 5 van site? . The waste disposal is just a hole in the ground which is revolting i hate to imagine it in the summer. The toilets never had toilet roll, in the end we had to leave one in there. the shower was freezing as there is a huge gap in the door, no slip mats on cold slippy tiles and a dirty mop bucket!. The children couldn't play outside due to roaming farm dogs that barked at them and the grass was covered in dog muck! if we could have parked on the grass i don't believe we could have put the awning up due to the mess. Electric gates did not work so was a nightmare getting in and out. So overall we was far from happy and the site owner was very rude, if they had called us before to explain about the grass situation we would have not gone at all.
