Peace & Tranquility

Just spent 10 wonderful days on this Great little site, fully serviced with you own waste bin. You will need levelling blocks, large pitches enabling you to sit back and take in the peace & quite listening to the birds chirp and the sound of horses hoofs walking up the road. Brilliant walks starting from the site entrance and terrific coffee shop ( Hockleys) down the road, Richard is a lovely guy and he’s there to give you all the information you may require about your surroundings. Will be back soon. Regards Stuart & Christine Hare

Lovely stay in New Forest

Had a lovely 8 night stay at Furzehill Farm, site easy to find using what three words. Fully serviced, with own bin, well spaced. A little road noise but not disturbing and very quiet at night. Also we had minimal mobile/ Wi-Fi reception, but really enjoyed our stay.

Not a 5 Star Site........ It should be a 6 Star Site.

Not a five Star Site it should be a SIX STAR Site!!! - THE END. ARRIVAL: We were a bit worried about driving with our caravan along the lanes to get here however it was not an issue at all for the novice. Nice big entrance gate to come through and plenty of room to manoeuvre around the site. there is a semi hard track running through the centre of the site which I can imagine would be useful if it rains alot. We didn't have this problem as it was glorious weather. Use what three words on arrival flaking.issues.greet to find the site. SITE: BEAUTIFUL. There is 5 grass pitches all with their own water, EHU and bin. The pitches are large so no one is on top of you, and each pitch has its own lovely view of the field opposite. Grey water goes into the hedge line. There is a glass recycling point near the waste disposal area. The waste disposal area does the job and is clean and tidy (or so my husband tells me). The site is just lovely and quiet with minimal traffic noise and you often see the donkeys, cows and horses walking along th road through the hedge. There is a constant chatter of birds which my husband found to be a welcome change to my constant chatter. The photos of this site just don't do it justice. You will need levelling ramps and stacking pads for your caravan legs as the pitches are slightly sloping. The site has no shower or toilet facilities and I hope that it stays this way forever as it's lovely to go back to "basics". LOCATION: if you love walking this site is the one. Walk out the entrance pick a direction and you will find endless footpaths. From short morning dogs walks to all day walks this location really can't get any better. Don't forget your tick twizler as there is quite a few ticks in th area and our border collie got a quite a few. We enjoyed a nice slice of cake and tea at the Hockey's cafe which is a short walk down the lane, they also have a well stocked farm shop and a fish stall on a Wednesday. If you fancy a fish and chip treat night then we recommend Poulners fish and chips which is about an 8minute drive, it's a busy place but worth the wait. OWNER: Richard is a lovely welcoming host and will gladly advise you on some short or long walks on your arrival. He lets you get on with your holiday but seems to be around if you were to need him. The perfect host. Overall an absolute amazing stay, the only question I have is when can I come back?!

Still lovely

As we haven't reviewed this site since 03/09/2014 and we have been coming here since 2006 (50 nights over 13 visits!) we thought we should review it again. What's changed over the years - the price - it was only £5 a night in 2006 payable on arrival and its now £25 a night requiring a deposit to be paid on booking and the balance paid prior to arrival. The single tap in the corner of the field has been replaced by taps close to each pitch and as mentioned in 2014 EHUs have been added. The rather basic black water disposal point hasn't changed and there is no facilities or information hut. The adjoining field that used to have horses in it is now left to grow wild. Some of the pitches are slightly less screened from the road which has slightly more traffic on it but nothing of concern. There is plenty to do at or from the site - chilling out, walking, cycle rides, pubs and a couple of cafes to visit - so no need to drive anywhere if you bring sufficient food. If you run out of anything the farm shop a short walk away has most things. This suits us as we now have a motorhome. The pitches have a bit of a slope but we manage. The only thing you've got to watch out for is if it rains as you can lose traction before the drive wheels reach centre track. We love this peaceful site and the total New Forest immersion it provides and hope to continue coming for years to come.

One of the best

We stay at CLs rather than formal sites wherever we can so we know what to expect. This is one of the best! It is ideally situated, very well kept and the pitches are huge. We had dinner 25 meters from our caravan and we were still on our pitch. Access is very easy. Each pitch has 16A and its own tap. Grey water is drained into the hedge. There is very little to do once you have set up. It is very quiet except for the ever present birdsong. Richard has a background in ecology and will happily talk about the local wildlife and the importance of his “rewilded”areas. We have visited the site twice and will certainly return.

Just what we needed.....

First experience with our caravan - wanted to revisit my childhood which was caravan holidays in the middle of the New Forest walking, riding & relaxing. Lovely site with immediate access onto the forest. Very friendly, informative hosts. Rained quite hard during our 5 nights there but easy exit due to access track. Lots of walking - short or long, easy or challenging but actually we loved the peace & quiet. We will be back soon.

Lovely stay

We stayed at Furzehill Farm for a week in August 2020 with our two children (9 & 4yrs old). Richard the owner could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The water point and rubbish bin on the pitch was a big plus for us. Another reviewer mentioned road noise, yes there is the occasional road noise but to be honest it really did not bother us as the area is so lovely and peaceful. The children loved exploring the beautiful surroundings and enjoyed visiting the little wooden bridge hidden in the trees which is a short walk up towards The Cabin, just before the road bends to the left. We used "What Three Words" as advised which took us straight to the site. Thank you for a wonderful break. We look forward to staying here again in the future.

Still a great CL

A great CL in a great location which I reviewed favourably on 3 Sep 14. The CL borders and is above and partially screened from its access road. There is intermittent use of this road by other vehicles but they are relatively slow moving and we think unobtrusive. On our most recent stay and for the first time, we had trouble getting off our pitch due to the wet conditions. When we had a caravan we were able to position our tow car so that its drive wheels were on the central track before hitching up. With our new motorhome, which is small but heavy and not 4x4, we struggled to get up the slight incline onto the track. This is something to bear in mind if it is wet.
