A lovely site.

We stayed here early August 2022 for four nights. A really lovely site with stunning views of the beautiful countryside. Mr and Mrs Close were really helpful if you needed anything. Phone reception was good, but we took a radio and couldn't tune that in. There is a connection point on the post where the electric connects for TV aerial. There is a loo which is well kept - no shower facilities, but we always use our own anyway. Thanks for a lovely stay - wish we could have stayed longer because we didn't visit as many places as we had planned.

Beautiful views and peaceful

A fabulous CL with stunning views of Ingleborough. Easy to find and very easy to get on and off site. Very generous hard standing pitches. The owners just leave you to it, you just need to go up to the house to pay. Very peaceful with just the occasional passing train in Clapham station. Easy walk up to the village. Very clean and tidy facilities. Whole site kept very neat and tidy. Loved every minute of our stay here, will definitely be returning as soon as possible!

Great CL

The site is perfectly situated on the edge of the Dales and the Forest of Bowland. There are six large hardstanding pitches well spaced out with great views across to Ingleborough or on the other side Pen-y-Ghent and a railway bridge. Steam train enthusiasts will enjoy the occasional views of steam trains going from Carnforth across the bridge on their way to pick up the carriages for the Settle/Carlisle trips. You can see the railway station from the site and there is a bit of train noise but the trains are not frequent. Other than that it is really peaceful. The site is very clean and well maintained and the owners are available if you go to the house but are not obtrusive. There is also a small information hut. Water and rubbish bins are next to the caravans but the toilet emptying and the toilet are across the farm track in a barn on the other side. Next to this barn are three serviced caravan pitches which are not strictly speaking part of the Cl. Highly recommend for wonderful rural holiday.

Our first caravan outing.

This was our first time caravaning and only travelled a few miles from storage. The hardstanding pitches were all quite large. We easily got the caravan, awning and car side by side. Gorgeous views of the North Yorkshire moors. Mrs Close was lovely and the site albeit basic was great. Even though we live not to far away from here I'm sure that we will return. Thank you for a great experience on our first time.

Weekend break

This was the first time we had used this site and arrived late on in the evening so didn’t really know what to expect with it being nighttime. Woke up in the morning to a lovely autumnal sunny day,the setting is very nice with a nice view. The walk into Clapham doesn’t take long and soon we were up and away into the hills. There’s only one small village run shop which we noticed which stocks a few basics, staff are very pleasant and helpful, a couple of pubs (one quite expensive) and I think a couple of tea rooms. A good site as a base for cycling with soon nice quiet lanes. We only had one slight concern at the site which isn’t the fault of the owners and that was the dog owners in the caravan next door who arrived the night before we were due to leave who proceeded to exercise there dog on the site by throwing a ball around 🤬 Lovely site and definitely one to go back to 👍

Beautiful setting and surroundings.

Our first time at this CL site and definitely not our last. Set on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, about a mile from the centre of Clapham. We stayed in our motorhome, along with bikes, and found plenty to do in the local area over the four days we were there, without having to move the van. Be warned, however, that the roads are quite hilly in places!! There is a railway station near by for further away places and for those of you with caravans and cars there would be easy access to many of the main attractions of the Dales. Friendly site owners who are happy to chat or leave you be to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area.

Another lovely stay at this site, so nice.

2nd visit to Giffords and it is still one of the best CL's we have stayed on you just can't beat the location, site and most of all the owners Joan & Brian. You will not be disappointed and we will certainly return again. Thank you so much for a truly lovely stay we just loved it. Clive & Lynda

One Of Our Top Ten CL's!!

We have stayed at this CL on numerous occasions but when I read some of the previous reviews, I wondered if we were talking about the same site!! I accept that one has to report what one finds so in an attempt to redress the balance of this 'cramped site', let me add the following. Six level, hard standing pitches which are large enough to accommodate twin axle caravan, full awning and a car without having to trouble the grass!! All pitches offer a great view over to Ingleborough (weather permitting). Water close to the pitches but CDP and a toilet are a short distance away in the barn. As previously commented, the site is a little way out of Clapham but it is still a nice walk up into the village - community shop, tearooms and pub. Plenty of walking in every direction and the Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland just a short drive. At £12.50 a night, I think this place is great.
