My husband had been to this cl a few years ago and wasn't too impressed but I'd looked at the photos on the current website and it looked very different to his description. And it is...lovely, spacious hardstanding pitches. The new owners have made great improvements. Access is easy, just off the main road. Lovely hard standing pitches, which is what we needed when visiting in January. The pitches are fully serviced with water, electricity and waste outlet. The pitches are spacious with grass in between. We had booked via email and always had prompt, courteous replies even when I thought I might cancel because of the weather. It did snow overnight but that made it even nicer. Owners are friendly and helpful but not obtrusive. The views are lovely. There was slight noise from the road but it didn't affect our stay and believe me I'm very picky when it comes to noise!
Leek is a great little town nearby, likewise Ashbourne or Buxton are worth visiting. We will certainly visit again as we love this area and this cl is perfect.
Goatfell Farm, Leek....January Visit
There's not a lot that I can add to the previous 2 reviews. A grand site well situated for visiting the southern parts of the Peak District. Two of the pitches are sheltered by a high hedge which was fortunate for us as it was very wet & windy during our stay. There are a couple of small fields beside the site which are ideal for a short dog walk, and a footpath starts by the entrance gate across numerous fields and over a large number of stiles to a quiet lane. Leek, 5 mls away, has a Morrisons and an Aldi for food shopping. As the site is close to the main Ashborne/Leek road there is some early morning road noise. This site definitely worth a return visit when it's warmer and drier so that we can get some decent walking done in the area.
Lovely CL
We were sadly only able to stay one night after walking in the Peak District, but owner Sally made us feel very welcome. An immaculate CL in a lovely location, well placed for walking and exploring the Peak District. Thank you for a pleasant stay and look forward to returning in the future.
fantastic site
just got home from 10 days away in our caravan and this was our last site for our holiday. we stayed there 3 nights and right from the start knew we had chosen a good site. The welcome by Sally was warm and friendly. She was very informative about the area. The site itself was well maintained and the pitches were of a very generous size. Water supply and electric were on each pitch as was grey water disposal. Septic disposal was nearby on a very good paved walk way and also the bins were in this area, all of which were clearly labelled. The toilet facilities are attached to the house and it is a very well thought out. there is an information area and a file has been composed giving local info on various subjects restaurants ,places of interest etc...The toilet was actually a wet room and very good and clean. We purchased fresh eggs laid by Sallys chickens, these were so good we brought more to bring home with us.We will return to this site hopefully sooner rather than later.
extremely good site.
Lovely warm welcome on arrival. Fabulous serviced pitches, hard standing with lots of room. Well kept site with shower and toilet.
Fresh eggs and plants available for purchase.
A first class site and excellent value. Very nice owners and convenient location. Great for those who enjoy walking or cycling. Lovely local towns to explore. Who would want more? Thank you both for the plants,(money plants potted and growing as predicted)
we hope to see you again soon.
Great
This was our first visit, my wife and I were really pleased when we arrived. This was easy to reach and we had a very warm welcome from Martin, and met Sally later, they were a really nice couple, and told us where everything was on the site. You had a serviced pitch, and the toilet and shower were lovely and clean. There was a bit of road noise, but nothing that would really bother you.The site was well laid out and all hard standing. Dont think we can say any more about this site, it was just lovely. We wish them loads of luck with this site as they put so much work into it to make your holiday great.
First class
My wife and I have just spent our first weekend at goatfell farm C/L site . What a little gem of a site.
Sally and Martin made us feel very welcome
Both the shower room with toilet were spotlessly clean and with surrounding views it made for a very pleasant weekend and will deff return
thanks again ...phil+Karen.......
Certainly worth 10 star review
Just returned from a 5 night stay whilst visiting our daughter in Newcastle Under Lyme. Our motor mover died whilst pitching up but Martin was straight over to help. A really lovely site run by very helpful and friendly people, no wonder people return time and again. Easy to find and access and great for visiting Leek and plenty to see round and about.
I didn't get chance to write in the visitors book, but hopefully Sally and Martin will read this as I would like to say an especial thank you for making my daughter and family very welcome to visit us (Eliza loved her visit to the chickens Sally). We have been busily telling friends what a great site it is and would certainly like to visit again,.
Thank you, Sheila and Graham
Idyllic CL
Have just returned from a 9 night stay with Sally and Martin who both made us very welcome, taking time to explain the facilities and surrounding area. The site is tidy with very good pitch amenities and wonderful views from each pitch. Pitches are widely spaced and generous in size. There is some road noise due to the proximity of the main Leek to Ashbourne Road, however it is not a problem unless you happen to be a very light sleeper.
There are a good range of shops, petrol stations, etc, all within easy reach. The site is perfectly placed to enjoy the surrounding scenery and all the attractions that the Staffordshire Moorlands and The Peak District has to offer.
This site offers tremendous value for money and Sally and Martin deserve to be successful.
