Not much here, but what there is is wonderful!

A small, basic site with lovely views, a tap and chemical disposal point.

As you approach, the road gets narrower and narrower... not sure what you'd do if towing a caravan and met someone coming the other way... but for our campervan it was fine. DON'T believe any satnav that tells you the road past the site continues into Noss Mayo, unless you're on a quad-bike. Take a look at Street View to get the idea!

Follow John's instructions instead, and only approach from the east. For those with a moderate amount of energy to tackle the gradients, though, that road is a lovely walk into Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers: exceedingly pretty places. Loved it here and hope to come back one day.

A lovely basic CL - kept just as it should be

We only spent one night here but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. John was very helpful with sending us directions on how to get to the site. The roads are very narrow approaching the site (and going down to the NT beach car parks) but we didn't find this a problem in our 6 metre campervan. A lovely basic CL with scenic views.

Pure tranquility!

This site is gorgeous! I would however urge you to stick to the arrival time as the final approach is a single track with only one passing place - I think it’s mainly farm traffic and it’s few and far between but I would not want to meet anyone else. The views are unrivaled, there is no whirring traffic, just birdsong which is quite a revelation. There’s a path down to Noss Mayo from the site and it takes about 20 minutes (then another 10 to the pubs). I don’t know how long it takes on the way back as we always took the road route (50 minutes amble) as we couldn’t face the steepness of the return journey! The pubs in Noss Mayo are welcoming and the fish and chips in The Swan are quality and delicious. You can walk over to Newton Ferrers via a causeway over the estuary and there you will find a Co-op, a pharmacy and another excellent pub snd don’t worry if the tide comes in you can still get back to the site.. Just book and enjoy particularly if you like walking!

Perfect place for a relaxing stay

We stayed here for four nights and were really happy with our stay. Beautiful views, peaceful, easy access to the coast path and a lovely walk down the paths to pubs in Noss Mayo. John and family were very welcoming and helpful. Note the need for your own toilet facilities - our toilet tent was invaluable. There is a chemical disposal point though.

A lovely place to dtay

If you want a lovely secouded place to camp with minimal facilities then this is the place for you. Lovely views across rolling countryside towards Dartmoor. There is a half a mile approach lane with a few passing places which is not a problem if people leave before 12.00 and don't arrive until after. The coast path is a twenty minute walk away and it is stunning. About 20 minutes down a track brings you into Nose Mayo. At the moment there's some deep mud about half way along.....John any chance of a few stepping stones here. It was just what we wanted...well kept, quiet with access to lovely places. We'll be back.

Peaceful site with beautiful views.

Lovely simple site with a stunning view up onto Dartmoor. It is a pleasant walk down to Nos Mayo & Newton Ferrers, with the amazing Ship Inn. Newton Ferrers has a small Coop corner shop and if you fancy the exercise bring a rucksack to carry the groceries home up the hill. Great walking around including an all morning walk around the headland coast path with (conveniently) the Ship Inn on the way home. No electric hook up here, but we stayed 14 nights in our caravan with our roof mounted 100W solar panel keeping the battery topped up just fine. Most of the time we were the only ones on this beautiful site. Great farmer too.

Fantastic site!

Peaceful and isolated, no hook-ups so make sure you can manage without electricity although battery-charging is offered. Lovely views across to Dartmoor. Noss Mayo with a couple of pubs is within walking distance, although a steep climb back up. Lovely scenery in the whole area. Access to some beautiful beaches although driving in the narrow Devon lanes can be...interesting at times! For cyclists (and walkers) there's the Sir Francis Drake Way which can be accessed just north of Plymouth and runs to Tavistock, all off-road. Organic Farm shop about 10 minutes drive away. We loved it, just our kind of site. I noticed another reviewer mentioned recycling. No obvious recycling bins but we asked about this and Mr Sherrell said to put our recycling separately and he'd put it in with his. I would thoroughly recommend this site to anyone who wants to completely relax.

A lovely farm CL with stunning views

If, as we do, you like quiet CLs in out-of-the way locations, they don't come much better than this one. The site itself is level, with plenty of room for 5 outfits to pitch without encroaching on your neighbours. Having said that, we enjoyed 6 nights to ourselves here in early June. The views across to Dartmoor are stunning. This is an off-grid CL so you'll need a well-charged leisure battery or solar panel if staying for more than a couple of days, but John the owner is happy to offer battery charging if required. The site offers great walking opportunities down to the picturesque harbour villages of Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers, which have some great pubs, among other attractions. One thing to note is that driving on the narrow Devon lanes, both to access the site via the excellent directions that John provides by email if you pre-book, and also driving solo whilst exploring the area can be a bit stressful, but take care and you should be OK. The upside of this is that you'll need to travel far to find a more tranquil setting in which to stay.

Have just returned from this nice basic CL. Agree with all previous comments. A 'basic' CL is all we ever seek and John provides this. We may be back.

New !

This new CL is a level well drained field ideally situated near Noss Mayo. We stayed on a rainy October night and had no difficulties with well drained (high) field. Water and waste facilities all new. Farmer John very helpful and cheerful. There is a great walk - even on a wet night - down to the harbour of Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers with a couple of welcoming Pubs. In summer this will be stunning, we will be back.
