No electricity only adds to the magic!

A super site that just goes to confirm why you buy a caravan - self sufficiency (no electricity), using your own facilities and enjoying the silence (until the pheasants kick in early doors). The owners really go the extra mile to welcome you (make use of their advice regarding accessing the site) whilst giving you the space to enjoy your stay. Superb walking straight from the site and easy access to Buxton and the wider area. Looking forward to another stay.

Quiet out of the way CL

We initially booked for 7 nights but extended to 9 as it is such a peaceful well kept location, the CL is situated in the small hamlet of King Sterndale and at the end of the road so no passing traffic. There are a number of walks from the site and Buxton is very close by with the nearest shops. The Monsal trail can be ridden to if you are confident on busy main roads A6, we chose to put the bikes in the car and drive to the Monsal trail car park. The Tissington cycle trail is also near by. We found the location excellent for exploring the peak district and nothing seemed to far away. The site does slope a little so you may need levelling blocks. The owners were very welcoming and provided good information and we'd like to thank them for sharing their haven of tranquility.

Very peaceful!

We stayed for two nights at this very pretty and tranquil site. Brett was very welcoming and helpful - the views were lovely and the walks and bike rides challenging but beautiful. there is an issue with soft ground but we were fine. We loved it!

A lovely spot

Found the place easily thanks to instructions from the owner, who was friendly, helpful & welcoming. It’s a pretty location within a short drive of Buxton, very peaceful & surrounded by woods, meadows & fields. Didn’t take the opportunity of the local walks but our toddler loved seeing the sheep, horses & chickens nearby! Would definitely return.

Wow what an increase in charges!!

Because of the other glowing reviews for this site, I decided to go ahead with our booking despite the astronomic 57% increase in charges to those detailed in the 2017/18 sites directory. We found this very small site easily enough and were able to find a suitable place to park our campervan. The walking from the site is good enough, most especially along the mile and a bit long dead end road which is virtually devoid of traffic. Unfortunately the site isn't overlooked from the owners property, so they weren't able to see the dogs from a white van owners caravan, aimlessly wandering around the site unwatched by their owner, doing what male dogs do!! So enough was enough for us and we only stopped for a single night rather than the three we were expecting to stay.

Green Farm

This CL is a little gem for enjoying peace, tranquility and beautiful scenery. We have just spent 3 nights over the glorious May Bank Holiday, doing many "up hill and down dale" walks from the site followed by a well earned afternoon aperitif (or three) relaxing in the sunshine. Brett and Jen were so helpful and knowledgable of the surrounding Derbyshire countryside, and nothing was too much trouble. As their field was still wet after weeks of rain, we stayed on their large beautiful courtyard between two barns. Brett fixed up a direct hosepipe for us, and our waste water pipe went into a very convenient drain. It was idyllic ..... we would certainly come again!

Green Farm

Beautiful setting. Just a green field with a large sycamore in the middle. Bordered by woods and a field full of sheep and lambs who come up to be fed and stroked. Friendly helpful owner. We had the field to ourselves for 5 out of 7 days and didn't miss the electric hook up too much. The owner informs me they are getting power in place in the next month or so. Access to Buxton, cycle hire and routes, numerous walks straight from the village. Would love to return.

Excellent

We arrived early season during a prolonged wet period but we managed to back the caravan and car into the field entrance to avoid getting bogged in, and had the field all to ourselves and the dog. There is hard standing near the house. Set in a small hamlet there are beautiful views and hillside walks just yards from the field on a track that joins the A6 down a steep hill. Don't follow satnav for this route! Not far from Buxton etc. but very secluded and quiet.
