We stayed at this site for two periods during June and found Jenny and Peter so friendly and helpful, they made us and our 2 dogs very welcome. The site is very spacious and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay,in fact we will be going back before the month is out. A wonderful site and wonderful owners, thank you Jenny , Peter and Bertie the dog
Handy for Bristol
A nice site with plenty of space. Very friendly and helpful owners. Easy to find using site instructions down country lanes, which can be narrow in places. Not to far out of Bristol. We found that the noise from the motorway was intrusive
A HARD PITCH TO FAULT
We stayed mid March after a prolonged wet spell .It was our first visit .We had been concerned about the ground conditions ,as we have a 4.5 tonne motorhome .The entrance gate is well designed, such that we were not on the road whilst we entered the code for the gate lock .The water tap is just inside the firm gateway if you need water .We followed the instructions we had previously been given ,as to where to pitch. The pitch itself was concrete ,but accessed via a gravel /grass area .This should not be a problem to experienced drivers ,even in wet conditions. We were shown the location of all facilities on arrival ,but all were fairly easy to find, and labled. The motorway is visible in the distance ,but the noise was no more than a dull hum (we live in the countryside ).The price is a little high but given its proximity to Bristol & the M4 ,probably justified .We tried the local Chinese take away , who deliver to pitch .The food was excellent (we are hard to please ).
Jenny & Peter ,our hosts , were helpful & friendly .We shall look forward to a return visit .
perfect hosts!!
We have stayed here on and off since Dec/Jan 2013/14. Yes the field is a bit muddy but lets be fair the weather has been exceptional!! Once you are on your pitch the ground is fine. Ourpuppy has been made most welcome and Jenny and Peter are amazing(not forgetting Bertie the dog!!) They cannot do enough to help you in anyway possible.Peter can always tow you out if you get stuck!1 We changed our motorhome whilst we were here and they really couldn't have been more helpful. There are plenty of shops local but yes a car ride away and a couple of pubs doing food within walking distance. Jenny has a menu and tel no of a local Chinese that will deliver to the site. The fees are in common with most cl sites. Motorway access is easy for both M5/M4 so great for stop overs if you are travelling. There is ehu and water plus refuge with recycling facilities and chemical waste disposal.
We will return without doubt,if nothing else, due to the friendliness and enthusiasm of our hosts Jenny and Peter. Well done to you both and good luck in your venture.
A bit muddy!!
We did ask before our visit (before Christmas 2013 for a shopping trip) if it would be suitable for a motorhome and were assured that there was a hardstanding pitch. Phew!! What they failed to mention was that you have to drive across the pitch to get to the hardstanding! The owner was very friendly and helpful, but it wasn't really the evening we had envisaged skidding about in the mud and rain trying to get to the water point. Eventually spent the night next to the tap in stuck position. A bit more skidding and wheel spinning in the morning to get out. A tow was offered, but not needed in end. So owners very friendly and site fine - but would not visit again if chance of mud and rain as not suitable parking a motorhome in the wet.
non visit
we booked this site for the days after Christmas. The plan was to visit down south the a drop off into Bristol to catch up with the rest of the family.
The booking was made with Jenny who was very helpful. Because of the dad weather we had an unpleasant time over Christmas. So we decided not to drop off into Bristol, cut our looses and get home in one piece. We contacted Jenny was great about it. They said they would have help and really offered to put themselves put. So I would recommend this site for the help that was offered. We are looking at visiting in the summer.
Would come again
After reading the review about being towed in due to the mud at the entrance and the amount of rain in the run up to our arrival, just before New Year 2014, we were a little concerned about the suitability of this site for our motorhome. However we needn't have worried - there was a little surface mud in the entrance but the area we were advised to pitch on was very hard under the grass and we got safely in and out without the need for a tow. Peter and Jenny (and their dog) are very friendly and helpful (not so much the dog!). We had some nice (if rather wet and muddy) walks in the area.
Fantastic Stay
Stayed here in between Christmas and New Year 2012 and had a lovely time. Pete and Jenny were so helpful and welcoming, even towing our caravan into position and unloading our luggage as the entrance to the site was too muddy for our car to get in! Easy access to Bath & Bristol and lots of lovely pubs to be found locally. Didn't find the noise from the M4 obtrusive at all. Lovely situation surrounded by trees. Would highly recommend.
A little Gem
I was very surprised to read the first part of the previous review as my opinion of this CL is very different. This may be because I normally use basic sites, ie those that do not have EHU’s or any other extra facilities, & so my expectations may be different. Whilst it is still possible to find some basic CL’s for £5 - £8 a night, £10 or £12 is becoming the norm, often depending on the location. When EHU’s are provided & the cost of electric included, as on this site, I do not think £14 is excessive. It’ll take many years to recover the cost of installing & maintaining the EHU’s.
I found both Peter & Jenny to be most pleasant & helpful. It is a lovely quiet, secluded CL in an ideal location. Yes, road noise can just about be heard, but it is by no means intrusive even when sitting outside. As I was using the M4 / M5 to travel to Devon & wanted to stop over near the centre of Bristol for a few days I found this to be an ideal site. I certainly hope to use it again when next visiting Bristol.
