Charming site in lovely countryside

Very pleasant CL set in lovely countryside. Warm welcome from the owners who showed us where everything was and recommended walking on the Basingstoke canal which is a very short distance away. We did this twice and it was delightful. The toilet was excellent and always clean, security is good with coded access and the field was firm despite lots of recent rain. There is a small amount of background noise from the M3 but after a while you don’t notice it. Plenty of good pubs locally and nice towns.

Good neat and comfortable site

We were only here for a night but Rosie could not have been more helpful. We chose hardstanding which was ideal with power and a tap beside us. The site is easily accessible and we certainly recommend it.

May 2021

Stayed for four nights in May 2021. 1. Had to phone from the gate as the call button to gain access was not working. 2. The CL site was a muddy field. Yes I know we had a lot of rain lately but the site directory said part hard standing which it wasn't. The only hard part was the drive to the field after that it was just grass. 3. The WC, again as stated in the site directory, was not for the exclusive use of the CL. It was in fact used by everyone at the livery yard as well. Not only that it was about 100yards away. 4. The chemical emptying point was also 100 yards away and when I tried to use it was overflowing. It was fixed the next day. The cover for the emptying point was flimsy to say the least and had to be removed by putting your finger through a rusty hole in it. Not nice when it's full to the brim. 5. The claim to be peaceful is stretching it a bit as it sits between a railway and the motorway both of which can be intrusive. It's acceptable but not entirely peaceful. 6. For what it was I thought it was rather expensive.

Horses V CL

We had a warm welcome on arrival, and I was shown where all the facilities were. A noisy site with motorway on one side and railway line on the other side, this did not bother us as it was just a base to visit family and friends. There is an issue being on the hard standing area with the fresh water tap being shared with the stables (cross contamination), I had on one occasion to clean dirt off the tap. No label indicating FRESH WATER ONLY. I think the horses have a better deal. £15 is to high. The field that is the CL area is out of use at the moment and is really churned up by horses and would take a lot of effort to make it acceptable for caravans. Horses 10. CL 5.

Nice CL

We had a good weekend here in March. The actual CL field was very muddy but we were given a good pitch on an excellent hard standing area near the stables. There are lots of horses and horsey activity to watch. The site is between the motorway and the railway line so there is some noise from both of these, but it didn't bother us and is otherwise in a quiet location. Surrounding roads are good for cycling. The price has gone up from that quoted to £15 including electric hook up.
