Shocking!!

Paid £30pn for a small sloping pitch on loose gravel/ chippings. Pitches were also close together. Elsan point was absolutely disgusting and overgrown with brambles, the hose was dragging in the 'splash area'. You can hear the traffic noise on the main A5025 which is a very short distance away. It was worth £15pn at a push.... not £30!! Only positive were the views of the Bay.

First visit to Anglesea

Great little site with fantastic views of Red Wharf Bay. Like the drive on/drive off pitches making arrival and departure a breeze. Owners were very accomodating by allowing us to wait around on-site before moving on to our next site which was only 15 minutes drive away but 2 hours before arrival.

Wonderful CL!

We spent a week on this lovely CL...the view from all 5 hardstanding pitches is stunning, the hedge kept low so you can make the most of the view over Red Wharf Bay from inside, or outside, the caravan. A great base for touring Anglesey, the site has two toilets and water & waste not far from pitches. The owners, Steve & Einir, were very friendly and helpful, everything you could want here, we will definitely be back to visit again.

Lovely site

Stayed here end of April. Straightforward to find. Didn’t notice any road noise from the pitch (3). We did need levellers to straighten up, but really appreciated the way you could drive off the pitch rather than reversing, simple yet effective. Owners are around & pleasant but not intrusive. Lovely walks to the beach & forest. Went to the bull inn but they only had lager no ales (only 1 they had was off) so can’t comment. We did go to the ship inn & had lunch. Lovely Saturday so busy but staff had everything under control, meal was delicious as was the beers. Would stay here again if visiting Anglesey.

A great CL with a fabulous view

A great open all year CL, very easy access as it’s on the main road. Amazing views of Red Wharf Bay from the pitch. Buses go past the site. An easy walk down a quiet lane to get to the coast, we walked to Benllech in just over an hour along the coast path. Nice tidy site, loos only, and always clean. Owners friendly and helpful. Some road noise due to the proximity to the road.

Beautiful view

As all other reviews say - wonderful views. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Easy access to pitches. Bus outside and easy to drive to local areas. Slight negative was that the pitches are quite close together so if you wanted to sit outside it wasn’t very private.

View second to none!

We were made very welcome by the owner of the site and had the site to ourselves! The views from all the pitches was amazing. We probably would have chosen the one in the middle but the owner wanted us on pitch 5 which was up by the hedge. It was sloping but we managed with our blocks on the top level. It was easy to get on and off the site. We ate at the Boathouse Bistro next to the Ship Inn. They do a lovely evening menu and a wide selection of coffee and cakes. Visited it twice. Great base for the island and we enjoyed a day out to Newborough Sands. Beach and woods beautiful with walking and cycling trails. Definitely recommend. The only tiny thing that would have improved our stay would be to have hot water into the toilet sink. There is only 1 ladies and 1 gents which is fine but a mini water heater for hand washing would have been preferable especially for the price. That said we would definitely recommend this CL!

Simply Brilliant ...... Thank You

We have just returned from a wonderful 10 night stay at Gwel y Wawr, and frankly we can't wait for the next opportunity to visit again!!! Stephen and Einir, (the owners), gave us an extremely warm welcome, (as did Diesel the Terrier)!! and we have to say that both were so extremely helpful!! It was great to enjoy regular chats with Stephen and Einir during our stay, and both are very knowledgeable pertaining to all places of interest across the island of Anglesey. This site offers tremendous views over Red Wharf Bay, and access on foot to the bay for dog walking etc couldn't be easier via a lane which runs alongside the site. There is an abundance of wild fowl inhabiting Red Wharf Bay, and amongst the November offerings were Red Shanks, Shellducks, Brent Geese, Egrets, Choughs as well as many Curlews. The sun set over Gwel y Wawr is truly stunning, and provided a beautiful vista from the front window of our van! We would like to take this opportunity to say another huge and genuine "thank you" to Stephen and Einir for a wonderful break, on their lovely C.L ahead of what is going to be a very hectic Christmas!!. Amazing views

Wow, what a view, that's worth the site fee on its own. Level pitch, on/off drive, no reversing, it can't be easier than that. Basic facilities but we knew that when we booked it. The Bulls Inn, just along the road, was really good, all in all - I can't fault it.

Quiet Site

We stayed here for 3 nights. We arrived mid-afternoon on the Thursday and was allocated pitch no 3. We were hoping to erect our awning, but not only did the hardstanding not allow for this (the edges sloped down quite significantly), the size of our drive-away awning would have encroached on to the grass - and unfortunately awnings are not allowed on the grass. Not deterred we erected our windbreaks and was able to sit out a couple of times in the evening when the weather allowed. There are toilets on site - which were clean and a Godsend for us when our water pump decided to give up the ghost on our last morning. The owners were extremely friendly and talkative. The site is situated just off the main road - there is slight road noise during the day - but very peaceful at night. The view over Red Wharf Bay is just lovely. As usual we used our e-bikes to get around. We cycled to the Menai Bridge and the National Trust property Plas Newydd on the Friday and on the Saturday we cycled locally - taking in lots of local bays - all downhill - which meant lots of uphill cycling when leaving them. The cycling was lovely once off the main road - but boy - we were both glad to have the pedal assist on our bikes - especially when cycling round some of the rural roads in between Dulas and Penysam. We binned cycling on to Amlwych as the weather was closing in and the sun looked to be shining more inland - which indeed it was - and the hills were more gentle!!! Just be warned - the ehu only runs on 10 amps.
