Great location but........

The site is well located for walks and visits to Arnside, Heron Water mill (which is well worth a visit) The location of the electric points however seem to cause confusion and we had to stop a campervan parking less than 2 metres from our front door rather than on a designated pitch. This is a working farm, which we are used to, but there is quite a lot of noise here. Milk tankers arrive around midnight and leave the engines running for around 20 to 30 minutes whilst milk is collected. There's also tractor noise early morning and dogs barking. So we felt a bit sleep deprived. Unfortunately a farm dog is allowed to roam freely and used our pitch as a toilet. I had to pick up horrible dog poo on our pitch on several occasions to prevent us walking in it and it just peed on the a frame and aqua roll. We are dog lovers but felt this shouldn't be allowed to happen. The rubbish and toilet disposal is near main gate. Don't expect a chemical disposal. You get a hole in the ground and access to a septic tank via a lever which isn't too pleasant. At £15 a night it's good value but we probably won't return in a hurry.

Lovely little place to stay

Lovely little site, excellent surroundings and very quiet. It is a working farm but caused us no issues at all. Lots of walks around you and very friendly owners. We will absolutely go back Many thanks

Very friendly but..

Very pleasant owners. The larger paddock has only 2 power posts so if these are in use then the remaining space where power is available is very cramped. Despite entry in the app and on line this site does NOT have laundry facilities; the write up needs to be changed

Nice!

Margaret & family are really good, friendly, helpful hosts. The site is next to the family's working farm & with that goes the sounds & smells of the countryside .... cow's mooing, hen's clucking & tractors doing their thing ....including helping you if/when you get a little stuck! Access to water/loo cleaning is as easy as it should be. The site is spread over two large paddocks ... so spread out, no need to crowd your neighbour! We just started motorhoming in March 2019 & have been back 3 times with friends n family already. We used to live & work nearby & know the area well - there's more to this place than the guide book indicates - - Leighton Moss RSPB is within cycling distance - We off road mtb riders can find lots of trails nearby (eg Whitbarrow scar) - Cycle the lanes/bridleways to Grange/Cartmel/Lythe Valley or Arnside - walk the marsh road to Dallam Park/Beetham/Fairy Steps & beyond - sea fishing at Arnside peer - river/game fishing ... contact Kendal Anglers - the "old bluebell"/Heversham hotel is a great beer n food pub. & there's so much more to do too .... Thanks Margaret, see you soon!

Great site, very friendly definitely come back.

Great site with stunning views and owners are very welcoming, happy to suggest walks around the area and things to do, working farm but no issue with dogs or noise at night. Very peaceful and will be returning to site in the future years. Plenty of space for kids without annoying other caravanners. Excellent access to Kendal and the southern lakes and great butchers in Milnthorpe as well.

Lovely place, Friendly Owners, Great Location.. BUT

Fab spot, easy off the motorway and owners were lovely and welcoming. It’s a working farm about 10 Mins outside Kendal with easy access to pretty much all things Lake District. BUT.. the 4 farm dogs roam freely around the site.. they are friendly, however, dogs being dogs, they cock their legs up everything such as my A-Frame, water barrels, cars, van steps etc... not nice! Plus they are unsupervised so poop where they want! Shame as it spoiled the venue for us, Glad we were only overnighting or we would have had to move anyway..

Handy to the motorway - would stay again

Reading the reviews - we didn't have any disturbance from dogs. Just normal farm sounds, nothing unusual. We rated it highly and can not understand why some reviews were negative. Friendly welcome from the owner. It is a lovely part of the country, and we had a nice walk on the nearby Whitebarrow National Nature Reserve, which had fantastic views across the estuary. The nearby town of Milnthorpe is also worth a visit.

An ideal location but......

We have just returned from a 6 night stay on this site. The owners were welcoming, there is no road noise, the scenery is very attractive and the facilities on site are ok BUT the noise of the farm dogs constantly barking is beyond a joke. One night they continued until after midnight and the owners did nothing to stop them. 3 of the farm dogs are also allowed to roam freely around the site marking there territory on cars, caravans, water containers and anything else they found. The dogs also use the site for other toilet requirements as I found to my cost when stepping out of our caravan,(not nice). Why do the owners allow this, would they let visitors dogs act this way, I doubt it. No I will not use this site again which is a shame when it has so much more going for it.

Fantastic access to the South Lakes and easy access from M6

This CL is on a working farm so there are animal noises and tractor noises but, the ease of access from the M6 (10 minutes on a busy summer Sunday afternoon) and proximity to Windermere, Grange over Sands and Boness make it an ideal touring base. I will be booking again for a much longer stay. Hugh Kerr

Yes, I would visit this site again :)

Easy access to site with plenty room and options for pitching caravan.  Good location for walking and cycling around area on roads or along river estuary. Good views and nice surroundings; wander down to Arnside or Silverdale or into Milnthorpe and Kendal. All essentials provided on site and cost of stay very reasonable.  Overall, no fuss and minimum frills. Very satisfied with our stay here on a working farm.
