Peace, quiet and relaxation

This wonderfully peaceful CL is exactly what we hoped it would be. Mr Mather greeted us on our arrival, as did lovely Doris the pig, the goats and alpacas! The generous pitches are well spaced with water taps right by the hook-ups. Although the weather during our stay was rather wet and windy, the tranquility of the site allowed us to unwind and relax, which is just what we needed. The site is perfectly located for all the things we wanted to do during our weeks stay in North Devon with easy access to Barnstaple, Ilfracombe, Combe Martin, Lynton & Lynmouth and Exmoor and with National Trust property Arlington Court just a couple of miles away. We will definitely return to this site.

An outstanding CL

This is one of the best CL's we have ever visited in over 40 years of caravanning. Situated in a beautiful and ultra quiet area it is situated perfectly for access to many of the most beautiful places in North Devon. The facilities are second to none and the site is clean and well maintained. Mr and Mrs Mather made us feel welcome from day we arrived. The goats, ducks, chicken and especially 'Doris' the pig added something special to our experience.I would recommend this CL to anyone.

Excellent Site & LocalPlacesOfInterest.

We originally booked this site for two weeks in July and enjoyed it so much we stayed a further week! As a base for visiting the North Devon area and particularly the coastline, this site is superb. Being situated off a minor road with only the occasional tractor passing, and with occupation being restricted to adults only with no dogs, it is also quiet and peaceful enough to spend the day on site. On arrival, the owner Mr Mather made us feel very welcome; his wife even gave us a carton of fresh strawberries to enjoy with our first meal! In fact we felt very comfortable throughout our stay – so much so we were reluctant to go home. There is easy and good access for each pitch to mains tap water and electric hook-up. There is also a very good (looks new) toilet and hand-wash facility together with chemical waste point and recycling bunkers. Caravan access and egress to and from the site is very good, there are no problems with clear site-lines. Part of the site does slope very slightly, but certainly not enough to cause the slightest of problems. There are two substantial hard standing and three grass pitches, all well spaced on a very well maintained 1 acre lawned site. An added bonus is a farm shop a few hundred yards down the lane and the very good Old Station House Inn, about two minutes drive away in Blackmoor Gate, Kentisbury, serving excellent pub food and beer all day, either in the converted railway station or garden. So, no faults for us and we will be booking for next year.

Easy to get to.

This was straight off a good road. No lanes to negotiate for a change. We had a grass pitch but the ground was firm. The owner greeted us and told us where everything was. There was on going improvements when we visited at the end of April - not at all disruptive to us. The next field had a mix of animals - llamas, sheep, goats and one friendly pig. In the small field behind us were pens of speciality ducks and a pregnant goat and her 'minder' goat. The only small fault, as with many of these sorts of sites, was that the nearest paper shop was miles away. We would definitely go back.

Pre Easter break at Hallsdown Farm

We stayed here for 5 nights before Easter 2013 CL has 2 hard standing pitches we were lucky enough to book one. Being high altitude 1080 feet above sea level and on the boarders of Exmoor we had a little snow however the whole country was suffering sub zero conditions too. The area is great for walking we certainly enjoyed our stay We noticed the owner is making some improvements with a new chemical disposal and recycling point now in use. If in the area I would certainly use this CL again
