Hamilton Farm Airfield & CL is probably one the very best CLs we have ever visited. Richard Thomas, the helpful owner, has developed his site to a high standard. The showers & information room were open with plenty of hand sanitisers to use. The CL is well landscaped with good views over fields, an attractive fishing lake, and has the added interest of a private airstrip adjacent. The pitches are mostly screened with hedges, some have hard-standing, and new trees have been planted. We found it very peaceful and friendly.
Although in a quiet rural area, the CL is within easy reach of the coast and other parts of Kent, with easy connections via the M20. We enjoyed using the local lanes too and found some delightful villages round about. Would thoroughly recommend this CL.
First CL experience
We had a great 3 night stay , hottest weekend ever ! Warm friendly welcome, loads of space ; very dog friendly and so exciting to see a plane taxi past your van ! Water , Ehu , toilet ( shut due to Covid ) toilet and waste disposal. Very relaxed and peaceful we will definitely return
Fabulous couple of nights away
We have just arrived home from this lovely CL. The pitches are spaced out giving you plenty of room and privacy. Richard is really friendly and helpful giving us advice on local dog walks and places to see. We saw a couple of planes land/take off which was great fun to watch!! We will be back when it's not as hot (this weekend was 34 degrees) to walk more of the Saxon shoreline and head for a walk to the Royal Military Canal. The site is really peaceful and relaxed, you can park in your area however you like, no rules as to what way to face so my advice is to park up so that you can watch the amazing sunset!
It's the dogs
One if not the best of many CL we have used in 40 years of membership, Richard is a super host makes you feel like a friend not a customer and nothing is to much trouble for him, much thought has gone into the layout and amenitys available with the extras of a fishing lake and the planes, this was our first visit but we will definitely be back
Wonderful CL site
We have been visiting this site for 3 year's,and it is always a pleasure we live locally, but would travel long distance to be there, Richard and Julie are always friendly and helpful, and the on-site facilities are the best we have used, having stayed in many CL sites, fishing is good, best to fish on light gear to get the most enjoyable day, when you do find the carp it's really good fun, plenty of other course fish to catch, even being local the walking and cycling is still good, watching the aerobatics, and sunset is a treat, will be back soon.
A wonderful 4 day break
We have just enjoyed four nights at this very quiet and spacious site. We even saw a vintage plane take off and land. Quite thrilling to see a plane taxiing past our caravan! With Romney Marsh close by we were able to do a lot of cycling on flat, quiet roads. Richard, the owner is very friendly and helpful. Don’t miss a visit to the Bilsington Priory for lovely views and a delicious cream tea! We would definitely stay here again.
Such a unique site
Our two night stay at Hamilton Farm was unfortunately cut short due to predicted high winds on our planned departure day but we had a very enjoyable, if short, stay in late September.
the site is quite large with plenty of space in each marked out pitch and the facilities were both comprehensive and well maintained.
The biggest attraction of this site has to be it's unusual and quirky nature from the amusing signs and camo decor of the buildings to the obvious little signs that this is a site owned and maintained by an engineer. Oh and of course there's an airfield operating right at the heart of it. Unfortunately high winds meant that there was little aircraft activity during our stay but the owner was kind enough to contribute some additional aircraft footage for my film of the site that you can watch here. https://youtu.be/RaexQ7JL7bY
SPOT ON!!!
Recently spent 7 nights on this quiet well thought out site with excellent facilities. Ideal for dog walking, fishing and relaxing. There is also the added bonus of the airfield where you may get to watch the small planes take off and land. Don't forget to keep a lookout for the Spitfire which goes over regularly.
Smashing site location - spot on for the coast. With Richard & Sue and of course 'Dylan the Villain' you receive a warm welcome and are always on hand if needed.
We will be back.. Still no chance with the 'FISH CHALLENGE'!!!!!!
Amazing....
Was met by Richard upon arrival, who quickly showed us to our pitch which was a good size and in a lovely position with a view across the lake. Lovely clean facilities ( Male & Female ) with dishwashing area too.. Nothing was too much trouble for Richard or his family. It was a lovely experience overall , especially watching my wife do the ' extreme fish feet challenge ' which was a great laugh.. Airstrip is not a problem.. if anything a bonus especially when Richard goes up in his own plane doing stunts.. Amazing again..
Will definitely be returning to this little gem of a site many times hopefully.. If we can get in because of these great reviews, but it deserves it....
Not forgetting Richards dog ' Dylan '... I think he's as laid back as his owner.!
