First time visit to a CL - not sure they'll be a second....

We broke our golden rule of checking reviews before booking and booked Heaven Farm on recommendation. We'd not been to a CL before so knew not to expect a luxury toilet block/shower etc. However, when the CL advertises a toilet facility you at least expect it to be clean, it was filthy. As others have said it is a retail farm, well-stocked shops and tea rooms that are very popular. The C&MHC field is in a lovely position and overlooks the wallabies and muntjack deer, which is lovely and you are not disturbed by anyone visiting the shops etc. There is a charge of £5 each for the woodland walk - we didn't go so no idea what you got for your £5 each. There is a lawn mower museum which you can visit for a charge - we didn't. We did enjoy our stay, mainly because we had superb weather and were the only people in the field, however when it came to pay the bill we were somewhat shocked that it cost £22.50 a night! Rather a lot of money for a pitch - next time it's a club site for us!

Don't give up on CLs,  del. I don't know anything about Heaven Farm but I do know that there are many, many lovely CLs out there offering peace and quiet and facilities every bit as good as club sites but on a smaller scale.

One suggestion - when you've decided on an area to stay in why not start a thread on the CL section asking for specific suggestions? Many of us have our own favourites and there's bound to be something to suit. smile
