Terry & Jo's review

A pleasant & tidy site, short grass & slightly sloping. Well spaced pitches are marked with your name, so no confusion. Toilet facility is spotless, with plenty of information. Lots of walking from site or a short drive away. Ideal cycling area with plenty of quiet country lanes & pretty much flat, with an off-road cycling & walking path a quarter of a mile from the site which takes you into the city of Lancaster & beyond along the banks of the river Lune.

Possibly the Best Welcome Ever

Stayed at Heron's Wood for 3 days in early May 2013. Arrived a little late and, when I knocked on the door Mrs Grayston greeted me with the news that she had just been checking the drive to see if I had arrived yet. It was raining and very blowy and Mr Grayston showed us to our pitch and suggested the best way to site our motorhome to avoid the wind blowing onto the main door. Then, when he found out that we needed water, and the hose from the supply would not reach, instead of leaving me to make several trips with a watering can (which I often do) he went in search of an extension and, 10 minutes later he had hooked up enough to reach us and Mrs Grayston came out to turn the tap on to save me walking over to it. An absolutely fantastic level of customer service. Thank you very much both. With regards to the site, lovely and quiet, large pitches, easy walking distance of Glasson Dock, the Lune estuary and the Lancs canal. Good range of leaflets, including hand-annotated bus timetables and local walks available in the toilet, which was spotless. Would we stay here again, definitely. It is a real gem of a site and the owners are a cut above and deserve massive plaudits for the quality and warmth of their welcome and service.

Motorhome July 2012

Easy to find off the main road. Large sloping field, needed levelling blocks. Owner very helpful. Grass well cut and toilet/sink next to house with information on local amenities. Pub 15 minutes walk down road. Good meals and good selection of cask ales. Walked coastal path into Lancaster and bused back to stop outside pub. Will return to this site.
