disappointing

when I rang the lady said there was no room on the cl site but she would fit us on her other site however when we arrived we found that this backed on to the road that as wand had paid but would have moved if note found out was the local rat run. Added to that there were dogs either on the site or very nearby that barked wimpered and cried on and off all night. The owner called at the cravan on the first night about 8pm when we were dhut up for the night she banged on the window rather hard and asked for her money. We did stay as we had tickets for racing at the Oulton Park Circuit that weekned and had paid in full the first night but would have moved on if we hadnt.

Superb CL with fantastic fishing

Superb touring caravan site and even better fishery. Welcome was excellent and efficient service with a smile from the lovely lady owner. The Pitch was on the CAMC CL and was flat and spacious between two of the three lakes. Water tap next to the pitch, waste into the hedge. The CD was a bit of a trek as it was located at the toilet and shower block 200 metres walk away. Everything worked really well and the surrounding area was very scenic. Fishing the specimen lake was a real joy and a really entertaining tactic was to feed dog biscuits in front of the peg then as the fish started to suck them down a boillie dapped in the middle of them produced explosive takes (keep the bait runner open folks). Just fabulous experiences both site and fishery Well done All in all a superb site I can thoroughly recommend

Very Nice...

Lovely site, pitches are all Hardstanding with tap and electric between each 2 pitches (there are 6 pitches?). There is also a C.S near the entrance and a rally field, and larger main site in-between. But all are seperate from each other. The C.L is very peaceful. Small Toilet block, couple of electric showers, 3 toilets with cold water hand basins and a 1 sink washing up room, these are shared by whole site, including the fishermen. These are all a little tired and in need of a good update, but all are adequate. Not too much to do by site, so would need to travel further a field. Oulton park race track is not far so some vehicle noise is heard on race days.. All in all i think we would come again..

Nice CL, interesting location

Access. This agreeable CL is part of a complex for various rural activities; there are another two sites, a yurt, shooting and several stocked lakes for fishing. It is well away from the main roads and surrounded by countryside, but many of the access roads from arterial routes are narrow, poorly maintained and used by heavy agricultural machinery. Take care. Follow signs for Holmston Fishery. You turn in to an impressive straight drive leading to the house, go round the house past a rather ramshackle yard full of stored caravans and some in use and then a large pond to the CL itself, which is in very good condition, level, easy to maneouvre into with large, well spaced hardstanding pitches and attractive. You share a standpipe with an adjacent pitch. We had a splitter and that worked perfectly. Take about 5 metres of pipe and drain grey water into the hedge behind as recommended by Yvonne, the owner, and you can leave your big waste holder at home! Nights are quiet; as others have commented, the fishing takes place just othe other side of a large thick hedge, but we could only really hear a burble of conversation that was perfectly acceptable. Bins are clearly marked at the entrance to the CL and regularly emptied. The facilities are decidedly basic, and quite a long walk from the CL itself. We prefer to use our own facilities in any case but just bear that in mind if you are less nimble than some. Certainly a perfectly usable CL.

Angler's dream?

The CL is part of a large leisure complex comprising of a CS, a rally field, seasonal pitches, a private shooting range, and 3 fishing lakes as well as a secure caravan storage area. The CL itself is situated behind the Hall between 2 of the lakes but sheltered from them by high hedges. There are 6 good sized H/S pitches with each pair sharing a water tap, so anyone wishing to connect up would really require a splitter. There was some noise during the day from the fishermen, and on occasions from the cars and motorbikes using Oulton Park, but it was very quiet during the night. One us allowed to walk ones dog around the estate and along the drive. The elsan emptying point beside the toilets and a fair distance from the site. Although the toilets and shower were open we were requested to use,our own facilities, which was no problem for us. We found that it was easier accessing the site from the West, from Winsford side. There are lots of places to visit in the area including Delemere Forest, Anderton Ship Lift and country park, Little Budworth Common and Oulton Park racing circuit. There are lots of towns close by for shopping including Winsford, Nothwich, Middlewich, and Chester is not very far away. For the angler this is the ideal location, with 3 different types of water to fish. At £17 pn we thought the site rather expensive especially as all 6 pitches were occupied for a couple of nights during our stay.

Inconsiderate people ruin peace and quiet.

My wife and I arrived lunchtime Friday 21st August 2020 for 2 nights. It was a last minute booking as we left another CMC 20 minutes away. Yvonne put us on pitch 11. When we arrived we chatted with people fishing, all very pleasant. We thought what a lovely site well it was up until Saturday afternoon. A family turned up and pitched on 10. Caravan and car well over loaded and flat tyres on the van. The family after a lot of shouting and balling pushed their van onto pitch 10. All the time yelling at their 2 dogs as they let them run around off lead, so they came over to my pitch and luckily my 2 dogs on tethers never bothered with them. One of the children came over to collect their dogs, no social distancing and staring through my van windows. At one stage she was nearly through our van door, no more than 1 foot away. This happened a few time sfrom then on. So their dog was peeing on our pitch basically 2 feet from our van door. I asked the girl to stay away from our pitch but just got looked at. The family unapproachable. I couldn't wait to get away early Sunday morning after 8 days of peace and quiet ruined by 5 people. I think Yvonne is putting none members in with CMC I could be wrong but I've just read she allows none members on the pitches where we was put. I don't think we shall be returning anytime soon. It's a shame really as 1 family ruined it for us.

One night motorhome stay

We were given a friendly welcome by Yvonne, the site owner. Great location, attractive and spacious grounds, good pitches with EHU and water and 3 fishing ponds if that's your thing. Generally a peaceful spot I guess, but just after 6:00 am a fisherman, positioned at one of the ponds on the other side of the hedge, and only about 10 yards from us, started yapping. Bad luck, I know, but boy, was he loud, and he continued until just after 8:00. I heard no other voices, so either his mates were couldn't get a word in or he was talking to himself. Either way, it was an unwelcome early alarm. We did not use the single shower - not enough for the amount of units on the whole site - and the toilets were basic. Also, I suspect that they were used by everyone who was fishing there too. By 11:00 on Sunday morning there was no loo roll and the men's toilet was not up to CAMC standards of cleanliness. On the whole, a good spot, although there are too many other campers around the whole site. I doubt we will return, mainly because we like a CL to cater for fewer people.

Relaxing break

We booked the site very early as we were attending Car Fest North. Was concerned when I read the review from by Templer. There is a camping and caravan club site and rally field immediately at the entrance. To reach the CL you go down a long drive that takes you round the back of the hall and past the fishing lake. The CL is separate but there are two other fields for caravans plus storage. I agree that if all pitches are occupied the shower and toilet facilities would probably not be enough. Quite a walk to the facilities so we showered in our van. There is water at each pitch but the tap is shared so if you connect direct mains you need to make sure you use a splitter so the other pitch can still get water. This site is perfect for visiting Chester and surrounding areas. If you plan to visit CarFest at Bolesworth Castle it is 14 miles/30 mins - very convenient. Recycling on site. Would stay again if we go to carfest again

Good CL

Just returned from 3 days at this typical CL. Booked despite poor previous review and pleased we did. Weather not good but surroundings pleasant and peaceful. Showers and toilets clean and adequate, plenty of hot water at no extra cost and clean if basic facilities. Three individual toilets one of which suitable for disability.  No rallies in progress during our visit and could see that this might put too much pressure on showers and toilets. Would definitely visit again.
