Nice site, very well kept

Nice basic CL, extremely well kept. The grass is cut regularly, and with a grass collector: oh joy! Owners lovely. Electric on card key system. We used a little over £11 over 5 days in heat wave, so mainly FF on overtime. Site is a bit small for our liking when full but its not too bad. Noticeable road noise daytime only. Excellent Indian restaurant walking one direction, fish/seafood specialising "gastro pub" in the other. Biggest issue: lack of reliable mobile or data signal which was quite a problem for us as we needed them.

A pleasant site with helpful owners.

There is a flat well mown field with plenty of room for each pitch. Electricity is via an easy to use card system, which we think is a fair system. You pay for what you use so if you want to use a heater in your awning which some do then you pay for it. That’s fair. We would return to this CL.

Pleasant and quiet mid-sized CL on working farm

Just had a very pleasant 5 day. stay here. Excellent spot for accessing the canal for cycling/walking. Despite being a working farm and saw mill, the site is quiet and well sheltered with level lawned field and good practical facilities. The card system for electrics is very good and effective - we were initially a little concerned (see previous review) but no problem at all. We bought two £5 cards on arrival which kept the caravan battery fully charged, ran the fridge/freezer 24/7, charged our e-bike batteries and supplied unlimited hot water for showers etc though our Aldi electric heater system. On leaving we had about 70p left - so no problem!! Thanks for a pleasant stay.

Sorry would not return

I’m sorry we would not return to this site due to the electric meter key card system. We would have been happy to pay another £5 a night rather than worrying about wether the electric was going to run out as it goes down fast we only had our fridge and lights on it and we were using over £2 -£2.50 a day so every thing else needed to be on the gas. So make sure you have a full cylinder as we spent an afternoon trying to find a refill. Another couple on the site run out of electric in the middle of the night. The other issue is the wood yard next to the site from 8am to 3 pm there is a constant drone of machines cutting and splitting logs. And vehicles parked at the site entrance. Other than that it is a basic site within east reach of many site seeing places and National Trust sites

Excellent site

Horse Lane Farm A gem of a site, very large, great scenery, beautifully kept. Owner Mr and Mrs C P Collett very friendly and helpful. The electric hook ups are now on a meter key card which can be purchased from the owners. Could not recommend this site high enough. Great location for exploring . Would definitely return if in that area again.

Perfect Weekend Break

A perfect weekend on this lovely peaceful CL. As always a very warm welcome from Mr & Mrs Collett to their working farm. The site is very quiet and a good distance from the road. The electric hook ups are now on a meter key card which can be purchased from the owners. Given the ever increasing cost of utilities we feel that this is a great idea and helps to keep the pitch price at a reasonable price. We feel that this is a brilliant idea and would welcome it at other sites. Devizes is just a short drive away and offers many shops and supermarkets. The Caen Hill flight of locks is a good walk or short drive away and well worth a visit. We recommend a stay at this CL and look forward to returning later this season.

Pleasant and convenient CL

We visited Horse Lane Farm the first week in October 2021. A very easy trip for us from North Kent and easy to find. Good directions. Grass was kept trimmed and cuttings all collected. Only 10 amp but kept on 1 kilowatt generally. We heard occasional moos from our cattle neighbours and enjoyed hearing the owls in the evenings too. Very dark nights here so lots of stars to see on the clear Autumn nights. We walked from site to Caen Hill Locks, approx 1.5 miles. A beautiful place and great cafe at the top of the locks. Very reasonable prices. Excellent ice cream😊. We found a newly planted woods to walk back through. We visited Devizes Market. Lots of very cheap but quality veg etc. Interesting buildings and excellent fish and chips at the Lemon Plaice which we ate at the park opposite. We walked at some of the White Horses to be found in Wiltshire. Cherhill is a good walk. Quite steep going up but found an easier way down. We also visited Lacock, Stourhead etc. All in all a very enjoyable time and after many years of passing through Wiltshire to other parts of the country we were pleasantly surprised at the beauty of the countryside here and will definitely return to explore more of this beautiful county.

Very Nice CL

This is a lovely well maintained CL, just outside of Rowde. You need to be careful when you arrive as the signage is becoming a little obscured. We missed it first time - but perhaps that says more about us!!! Really nicely laid out, and lawned area with plenty of room for 5 units. The owner is charming and helpful. It is just off a fairly busy road, but there is little traffic noise. Great for Caen locks and Kennet and Avon canal

Great location

We spent a lovely few days at Horse Lane Farm over the August bank holiday and enjoyed our time there. Chris and his wife are very helpful and friendly and the field is well kept and has easy access. We used our bikes to visit the canal and the ridgeway. We also enjoyed a visit to the George and Dragon. We have no hesitation in recommending Horse Lane Farm, so well placed for access to many interesting places. Would certainly visit again.

Nice little CL site, but need to drive to get anywhere

A nice little CL site just outside of Devizes. Smallish field, with five pitches, no rules about which way you pitch which is nice. Lovely welcome from the owners on arrival and shown to pitch. Not much else there, and you have to drive to get anywhere as the main road is fairly busy, and also can be noisy, especially when the boy racers decide to do 70mph past the site. It is a working farm, so expect some noise early morning, didn't bother us in the slightest. EHU is only rated at 10amp, so be careful about running too many appliances simultaneously otherwise you'll trip. Grey water and Elsan points are convenient, not too far away, and hidden behind a fence out of view. My only complaint would be the flies - literally hundreds of them and were forever getting into the awning and caravan. Not your normal bluebottle type - these were slower and more stupid so fairly easy to swat. Overall, a nice little site for access to Devizes, but not one for a second visit for us.
