Wow!!

This CL ticked all the boxes for us - adult only, good size pitches, immaculate facilities, superb location with a warm welcome! Beautiful village with a couple of cafe’s and traditional pub plus a craft centre, folk museum located near so many areas of outstanding scenery. We’ll be back!!

Lovely site

We really enjoyed our visit here. The pitches were generous, and nicely spaced out. The overall site clean and well maintained. The owner was available on arrival, and he made us feel very welcomed. The site was in a perfect position for the village , which had some quaint little shops , plus a lovely village pub. In walking distance you had some fabulous walks , and beautiful views. I would certainly recommend a visit.

Fabulous will definitely be returning ! Very thoughtful and safe owners !

On arrival the friendly owners advised us of all the covid precautions in place. We were shown around the immaculate site and given the choice of pitches. The owners were very knowledgeable of the local areas pointing out the dog walk, local pubs, restaurants and places to visit. The dog walk starts literally at the entrance to the site. Also the village is at the entrance with a beautiful tea rooms, craft shops, chocolate factory and the crown pub (we ate there twice ) felt completely safe and beautiful homemade food. We ventured out every day - to Whitby , robin hoods bay, goathland, thirsk and to see the white horse on the hillside. We also did a circular walk to lastingham where we stopped at the village pub for a couple of drinks. The site is central to a multitude of places and I’m sure we could revisit time after time and still find places to visit.

Another fabulous stay !!

Just returned from another fabulous stay over the festive season at one of our favourite CL’s. Louise and Will are perfect hosts giving you all the information you need upon arrival to make the most of your stay. The 5 hard standing pitch’s are just great as can be used in all weathers. Facilities (toilets, shower and washing up area) are always clean and tidy and are an added bonus for a CL site. Local pub 3 mins walk from site The Crown serves real ale and the food is excellent. Lots to do and see from the site and if you enjoy walking then you have the North Yorkshire moors on your door step, also listen out on an evening for the 2 owls talking to each other. Thanks again for an enjoyable stay and we look forward to seeing you again very soon.

The best CL of the year

Here we are at the latter part of the caravan season and have to say that this site is the best CL we have visited all year, in fact it might well be the best of all time. What a lovely site, absolutely beautiful situation, stunning views, peaceful tranquil village location, spacious well maintained pitches, immaculately clean facilities and a welcome from the owners. The site is in a quiet location next to the church and away from the road, there is a craft centre nearby, the Rydale museum is next door( leave plenty of time to visit), a number of cafes nearby serving good quality food. The Crown Inn is a short walk away, a lovely pub with friendly staff, a good selection of drinks and amazing food. This is not our first visit to this site and it won’t be our last, well worth a try!

Update on previous review

Having written the previous review I have searched the Caravan and Motorhome Club rules and found this ‘Anyone visiting someone staying on site will need to see the site staff on arrival to ensure their stay is safe. The site staff may allow visitors' cars to be parked within the pitch they're visiting. If staying overnight a fee for both visitors and their cars will be charged. I’m not sure whether this relates to CLs as well as Club sites but giving the owner the benefit of the doubt I will be sending him a cheque for the £3.00 he believes I owe him. Had he mentioned it earlier I would have attempted to get a signal somewhere else as there is no WIFI or workable 3G or 4G on the site and I’d have been able to check on the club rules before I left.

Comment from the Club:

Further to your review the CL owner has been in touch to review your concerns.

With immediate effect they are cancelling all their car boot fairs in their field for 2019.

The cost of a pitch is for a unit and a car plus two Adults. As such a Motorhome towing a car would not incur additional fees. If the CL owners had been aware that you had been planning on having your Daughters car parked on the pitch they would have advised you of the cost and did advise your Daughter of the charge.

With regards to the gift shop at Hutton-le-Hole, the CL Owners have advised that unfortunately there was a fire in the flat above the shop that nearly took the life of a person and caused the death of a much loved family pet and a local family who ran the gift shop have lost their livelihood. Our thoughts are with the families who lived and worked here.
