Bank Holiday weekend break

We managed to get booked in here over the August Bank Holiday weekend due to a last minute cancellation as we'd always wanted to visit Rye and the surrounding area. This CL in Iden is in a beautiful area of East Sussex close to the border with Kent. We received a warm welcome from the hosts Paul and Brenda. There are 5 pitches all with EHU and separated by areas of wildflower planting and small trees. You can site your caravan/motorhome whichever way you prefer. WiFi is free and TV reception fairly good. There is also a secure grassed area to exercise your dog off lead. Iden is a small quiet village with a convenience shop. Sadly the local pub "The Bell" had recently closed down but there are several other pubs in the area to choose from. There is a bus service into Rye if you don't want to drive/walk- the bus doesn't run on a Sunday. We will definitely re-visit this site as it's a great place to relax and unwind in peace and quiet.

Lovely site: shame about the dogs

This is a nicley laid out site but what spolied it for me was the owner has a small yappy dog which sets off his neighbours larger barking dog along with anyones dog on site. It's a real shame bearing in mind that the owners quote in their discription.......... "We like it quiet and we want to keep it that way in the friendliest way possible". For this reason we will not be returning.

Great relaxing place to stay

Just had 11 nights at this excellent site. The hosts Paul and Brenda were really helpful with local knowledge to assist our stay. The site is level with only minor adjustments if any needed for levelling; facilities are easily accessible and very clean. A sanctuary for goats and sheep adjoining the site adds to the overall senses of peacefulness. The owners have created islands of wild flowers and trees that provides a sense of privacy which is lovely but plot sizes are generous anyway. It’s a great base for accessing a range of local attractions. National Trust Card holders may suffer card fatigue but there are no shortages of interesting places to visit. Thanks for a great stay - a place to book with confidence. We will be back.

Fantastic stay

We stayed here for a week and returned home today. A beautiful spacious site and Paul and Brenda were friendly and welcoming. Huge amount of space for each unit. Loved the wild flowers and butterflies. Lovely village and easy access. Can’t wait to go back

A warm welcome awaits you

We spent two peaceful nights at this delightful site. The owners were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and it's really close to Rye so a great place to stay if you want to visit this lovely town and coastal area. We just wanted a peaceful couple of days away from it all so this was perfect. The birdsong was incredible (they were singing all day and evening) and we even saw 3 red kites overhead one day! The village of Iden is pretty and the locals very friendly and helpful too, with a well-stocked village shop very near the campsite. We'd be happy to go back there again when we need a break in that area.

Perfect little idyll

We have just returned from this site after a 4 night escape. The site is very well maintained grass cut short, and laid out, plenty of space for each outfit and some trees and shrubs planted around the pitches. There are views over the neighbouring animal sanctuary where you can watch the retired horses goats and llamas wandering about. There is an enclosed doggy Paddock which we made good use of, our dog made great friends with the owners doggy. There is all you need, electric, water, disposal point and rubbish bins. Lots to see in the area, although if you're just looking for a relaxing break, that's fine too. Having read a previous review, it would seem to have been written about a different site, we found the owners, Paul and Brenda nothing but accommodating and generally lovely people. We had a tour of their garden, and model railway track, chatted with them over a glass of wine, a very pleasant couple indeed, who work hard to make the CL a success. The only drawback for some might be the access to the site, a little tight for larger outfits, but we managed ok. We were sorry to leave and would love to go back.

3 night motorhome stay

Just had our first outing in our new motorhome with a 3-night stay here. Lovely spot just outside the small village and on the bus routes if required. Nice and quiet well spaced out pitches with EHU and water and Chemical toilet disposal. A good circular walk to Rye and back which takes about 1 1/2 hours each way if you are reasonable fit. Paul greeted us and walked around to make sure everything was OK as it a grass site and it rained constantly for the 3 days. It drained well and we had no problem with access on or off the site. He said he had a tractor should it every be needed. Definitely recommend and will go back sometime lets hope we find more site like this one in our travels.

Lovely and peaceful CL site

This is a lovely new CL site, in a pretty little village near the historic town of Rye. Paul and Brenda have made a gorgeous site, with the pitches spaced it around the field so it feels very private. We spent 3 nights here soon after they opened the site. All pitches have EHU, and the site is immaculate. Owners Paul and Brenda are very friendly and helpful. Though it is close to the road, you can choose pitches further away from the road as the site is a reasonable size. However we parked close to the road, and it was still quiet, and at night time it was very peaceful. Access is excellent and easy to find. Short walk to the village pub and shop, and Brenda showed us a great dog walk which goes through the church yard and into the recreational ground which we wouldn’t have found otherwise. Fantastic access to local places of interest such as Rye, Dungeness, Dymchurch, Battle, Hastings etc. Worth exploring the nature reserves at Dungeness point, Rye Harbour etc. Good local beaches at Camber Sands, and interesting walks across the marsh areas. A very enjoyable stay and we will certainly be back. Chris and Clare.

A wonderful little site

We feel privileged to have been the first ever guests in this idyllic little site. Paul and Brenda made us and our two dogs welcome from the start and couldn’t have been more helpful. The site is quiet and peaceful with beautiful views across the countryside and the goats, sheep and ponies at the sanctuary next door. The site has been cleverly designed to give each guest a “private” pitch and has been planted up with a variety of trees and wild areas around the otherwise flat and well maintained grass standings. It is an easy walk to the village of Iden and a great little shop where you really can buy anything. There is also an attractive pub serving food (sadly closed on our visit). We did a lovely walk cross country to the charming town of Rye and were able to get a bus back to just outside the site afterwards. I can’t recommend this site enough and will certainly be returning as we visit this area a great deal. Thank you Paul and Brenda for your hospitality.
