Beware potholes!

I would agree with previous posts, lovely spot and welcoming owner. Access is narrow but my main concern was the hidden pot holes on the public road near the site entrance. please be careful they've got the potential to cause vehicle damage.

Great Farm Site - a Real Gem

A great farm site with lovely views across the Devon countryside. Access to the site is narrow, but then typical Devon roads. Lots of space so a good choice of where to pitch, including some hardstanding, and plenty of distance between neighbours. The farm is a bit isolated - which is why it is so quiet - but the Co-op in Salcombe is only a 30 minute scenic walk away if you do not have a car or bike. The toilets/showers are excellent - including a disabled shower room, which was totally unexpected on a farm site, and at no extra cost. Many of the people on site with us had been visiting for the past 30+ years, so we knew we had found a real gem.

Fabulous in every way

We arrived for 2 nights and stayed for 4!! From the moment we were greeted by Wendy we knew we'd chosen an excellent site. We were allocated one of the hardstanding pitches but were able to position ourselves so we could enjoy the well cut grass as well as the stunning views out across fields and over the Creek. Many of the pitches were level. In every way this was a perfect stay. The peace and quiet really was 2nd to none, with the background soundtrack of owls overnight and the gentle mooing of distant cows during the day, and hardly a vehicle to be heard. The site was bathed in plenty of sun while we were there with many pitches facing due south, and most of the site reasonably sheltered from the prevailing winds. The washroom facilities were kept spotlessly clean and well stocked with toilet paper and towels. The surrounding area is hilly and accessed by narrow roads and lanes, but it is Devon and simply adds to the charm. We visited Salcombe, Hope Cove, Thurlestone and Bolberry Down, all by bike. Lots of lovely farm shops locally and some good restaurants. This is a site well used by regular guests and we can understand why. Indeed, just about everyone on site was a regular and without exception they were friendly and made us feel welcome. We suspect we'll become regulars too!

Lovely, rural scenic site

Very nice site, with distant views of the estuary. Wendy is very welcoming and helpful especially as when we arrived the rain was torrential and she came out to meet us and direct us on to a hardstanding area due to the potentially waterlogged areas. The site is huge with lovely cut grass. Cannot comment on the facilities as these were all shut due to COVID. As others have mentioned the roads to the site are sooooo narrow with passing places few and far between!!! But this is Devon and I guess wherever you go in this neck of the woods any route is going to be challenging. We are in a motorhome, 6.5 metres in length but we saw many bigger units and cars and caravans that had obviously managed to get to not only this site but other neighbouring ones. Make sure you stock up on any groceries before arriving, main shopping is in Salcombe. We have electric bikes to get about on once on site, the route to and from Salcombe is very steep but we did manage it but I'm sure those of you are who are much fitter and younger than we are would do it with ease. Salcombe is very picturesque, but so so busy even though it wasn't school holidays! We tried to book a table for a meal at a couple of restaurants, lunch or dinner and was told by both establishments that were fully booked for 2 weeks!!! Planning ahead is a must. I think it might be worth getting the ferry over to the other side where there are some nice beach areas and seem to be a little quieter than on the Salcombe side. If you are in a motorhome, walking and cycling is challenging from this site and you would have to do one or the other if you wanted to access any amenities. But if you're looking for a quiet get away retreat in lovely surroundings then this might just be the site for you.

Peaceful

Only spent one night but very nice, peaceful site, quite narrow lane but access to site is good. Owner welcomed us, very friendly and helpful. Walked to Salcombe, about 40 min, steep hill on way back but a very friendly driver dropped us back. Site had wc and shower 20p. Would recommend this site for peaceful surroundings, pitches are huge and you have plenty of space.

Rural Retreat

Have just spent 5 nights at Wendy's lovely farm in the early July heatwave. Fantastic. We will definitely be back. Very friendly. Spacious, well manicured pitches well separated. Very family friendly and welcoming. Invigorating 2 mile walk into Salcombe down quiet country lanes. Facilities fully functional and completely in keeping with rural location. All CL pitches occupied whilst we we there but because of generous pitch size, no hint of overcrowding. Yes, access is a tad narrow but several large caravans had made it down the hill and we got in and out in our 4 1/4 ton Kontiki with the wing mirrors just clipping the hedgerows. No problems turning at all. Can't wait to return.

Peace and quiet with nice views

Just had a wonderful relaxing week on Wendy's lovely CL. First time there for us, but we will be back. There is a choice of level hard standing or grass pitches, all with varying degrees of a view across the Kingsbridge estuary. Electric hook up, water, waste and recycling are all handy. No traffic noise and plenty of wildlife ensures a peaceful stay. Bear in mind, though, that this is a working beef farm - but saying that, this is by far the quietest farm we've ever stayed on. Mind you, we had the place to ourselves all week! Facilities are adequate - 3 toilets and a shower. No WiFi available but we did get a decent mobile phone signal. Wendy is very friendly and helpful. Access is down some narrow lanes - so take care. All in all, a thoroughly nice site in a delightful area.

Peace and views near Salcombe

This is a delightful, long-established CL. It is located in a slight hollow (well protected from westerly gales as we discovered last week!) with views across fields to the upper part of the Kingsbridge Estuary. The hardstandings are staggered so that all can share in the view. There is also an upper grassed area with even better views (but less protected from winds). This also has some EHUs. Wendy looks after the site with care and attention - the grass is well mown (and the clippings collected) and the rubbish and recycling bins are emptied regularly. The location - about half a mile off the main road between Salcombe and Malborough - is ideal for access to Salcombe, Hope Cove and coastal walks along Bolt Head and Bolt Tail. The only caution that I would add (and thus only 4 ticks in this category) is that the access route does involve a pretty narrow lane from the A381. However, there are some passing places (for others to reverse into!!) and there is plenty of space to turn at the junctions. We hope to return in the Spring. Paul, Maggie and Stella (the dog)
