Ease of arrival/welcome

Lovely country location, but basic facilites.

The site is a small field with good views over the surrounding countryside. It is partly sloping, but with many flat areas. The grass is long and it’s a bit uneven underfoot. You can camp anywhere in the field, no set places as no hook-ups. There is good access to the Sussex Border Path, and we used part of it to walk round the Weir Wood Reservoir nearby, which was 9 miles including a deviation to Standen NT house. There is also easy access to the Worth Way Cycle Path which follows the disused railway track. We took about 1 hour to ride to Groombridge, and enjoyed a visit to the Station there which is on the Spa Valley Railway, which runs some steam trains. The station is run by volunteers and has an outdoor cafe area and some train memorabilia. The site is very basic, only having one water tap in the farm buildings, and a chemical toilet service point. No generators are allowed. The site is poorly signed, with nothing at the bottom of the drive to show there's a campsite. Also no sign to reception, but the farmhouse is quite easy to find behind the old farm buildings on the left. However, the site is not hard to locate as its on the edge of Forest Row, with the farm name on a brown board. It also has a footpath all the way into the village. We enjoyed our visit and would go again. Best points: -lovely rural location with views -very quiet and peaceful, only a few vans there even on a bank holiday weekend. -good access to walks/rides and short walk into village -good tv and phone reception (though beware overusing tv and flattening battery like we did) -eggs from the owner, we got duck and bantam eggs
