Autumn visit

This CL has good access off A346, about 2 mls from Marlborough, about 1/2 ml up a tarmac farm drive, through a well kept farm. The site has 2 hard standings pitches, which can be booked, as you drive into the site, otherwise there is a nice big area of grass in which to pitch, with EHU’s spread across the site so you can pitch up where you want. It is lovely and peaceful, with numerous nice walks from the site around the farm's fields, so ideal for anyone with a dog or two. Directly opposite the drive is one of the accesses into Savernake forest, where there are miles of tracks and footpaths, so good for both walking and cycling. There is a bus stop close to the entrance drive with a regular service into Marlborough and beyond, so good for those in M/Hs who don't want to take their unit off site. Marlborough, a market town, has a Tesco and a number of filling stations, as well as a fine main street with many independent shops. The site is ideal for visiting Avebury, Sillsbury Hill, the Ridgeway, and Devizes. We will certainly use this site again, and it is just a shame that it closes at the end of October.

Peaceful and tidy

We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2021. Good access from the main road A346 up the farm drive. Followed the signs through a well kept farm. Good communication from the owners before arrival, so didn’t have to worry about anything. Lovely little site 2 hard standings as you drive in the site. If you require hard standing they will allocate if you ask and they are free. Nice big area of grass to pitch up otherwise with EHU’s spread across the site so you can pitch up where you want. Lovely and peaceful, with nice walks from the site. We will be back again.

Lovely Secluded Site

Just enjoyed a one night stay here and loved it. Lovely walks from the site into surrounding countryside and the site itself is spacious and well maintained. Good easy access. Will definitely visit again.

Truly rural with memorable sunsets

Situated behind the farm, this site is quintessentially rural England. Lots of bird life and absolutely fabulous sunsets the 2 nights we were there. Easy access off the A346 and nicely tucked away to ensure a safe a peaceful stay. The site is lawned and level, with a couple of hardstandings. Easy walk to the Savenake Forest, a mostly hardwood traditional forest just across the road, where you can walk all day. There’s a large Tesco on the way into Marlborough with good access for motorhomes. Marlborough is an attractive market town with a wide squire and well known school. Within reasonable driving distance is Avebury Ring, Silbury Hill, Devizes with its Wadworths Brewery (6X beer) and the amazing 29 locks at Cean Hill on the Kennet and Avon Canal. Easy dogs walks available on footpaths direct from the farm. We’ll be back for a longer stay.

Beautifully kept and lovely and quiet

If you want peace and quiet with some fantastic forest and canal walks this is for you. We spent 7 nights there and loved it. Savernake Forest is in very easy walking distance and is an ancient woodland. Just beautiful. We also walked to Wootton Rivers where you can access the canal towpath. Again just beautiful. The site is really well kept with almost manicured pitches. We have added it to our ‘Will return’ list.

Spacious & Tidy

Just a four night break to familiarise ourselves with our latest motorhome. A spacious well maintained site with two hard-standings although the ground seemed fairly firm despite the recent rains so it would seem well-drained. Worst case scenario - there's always a tractor on a farm. Numerous trails through Savenake Forest across the A346. I would echo a previous reviewer's assessment of the main road for cyclists and walkers. There is a bus stop nearby with a sporadic service. More space than many CLs makes this a contender for CL of the Year.

Peaceful, clean and tidy

Lovely site. Great walking in nearby Savernake Forest, and the beautiful town of Marlborough is just a short drive away. The only thing that left me slightly disappointed was that we had no welcome at all from the site owners. A few minutes to say hi means a lot to us.

Well Kept Tranquil Site

Stayed here on the way to, and back from Wales. The site is very well tended and is in a lovely setting with good views. Nearby Marlborough is a pleasant market town, and Averbury is well worth a visit. There is a large woodland area nearby for walking. We only saw the owner once when she came to cut the grass, but she seemed very friendly. Good value for £12.

disappointed

we rang the day before to enquire if one of the hard standings was available for an overnight stop, was informed yes so we made the booking. On arrival, we found both hardstandings occupied, the owner of the motorhome on the one came over to ask if we had specified a h/s which we confirmed. He said as they were new to motorhoming they assumed that when they made the booking and said it was a motorhome that was enough to ensure a hardstanding but he had spoken to the other occupant of the hardstanding who told him he hadnt specified hardstanding but parked his caravan on it anyway. We were concerned as it was at the time of the storms and was worried about getting out the next day. I phoned the contact number and told the lady about the issue, her answer was 'as you are only booked for a night could you make do with grass as the caravanner had booked for a week? if not, she would come over and ask one of them to move' I felt I was put in the position of the 'bad guy' if she did that, even though it was not our fault - it clearly states on their welcome board that hardstandings must be prebooked - apparently if we got stuck they would tow us out - this was our first experience of a CL, and it will make me wary about using them in future. The owner made no attempt to come over to apologise about the booking mix up, we just left our money in the honesty box the following morning
