What a gem in the Norfolk countrside

On arrival you're sure of a warm welcome from the owners. We found a lovely pitch and settled in for a four night stay, I only wish it could have been longer! It's lovely and peaceful and the walk to the village is lovely over the fields. The site is well cared for and the access we found quite easy onto the site. It's a gem in the Norfolk countryside and very well worth a visit.

Fantastic Location

What a great CL, perfectly situated for this corner of Norfolk. Quiet lanes all around to cycle and a short walk across fields takes you to the lighthouse and beach.

One of the Finest

My wife and I decided to try Lighthouse View Paddock after seeing it in the mag. We don't live a great distance away and love short breaks in Norfolk when we get the opportunity. We stayed for 3 nights in August during the school holidays. It is an adults site only though so no screaming kids :) The directions to site are very good and I would not advise anyone towing to approach from the north as Grub Street is long and narrow and the entrance to the site is angled so if you were to approach from the north you would have to perform a reversing maneuver to get in the gate. Even a short mtorohome might struggle to make the turn. The site is well laid out, laid to grass, firm, with plenty of space. We had a slight issue with our caravan's wheels sinking in some soft earth where the hookup cables had been laid but this was nothing insurmountable. We just moved the van slightly and all was well. The water tap and waste disposal and refuse sorting area are in a good position with easy access (some CLs we have been to are not always and there can be a fair trek to the services). There is a public footpath across farmland into the village within a few hundred yards of the site. There is a Tesco in Stalham (5 miles) and Lidl, Sainsbury's and Waitrose in North Walsham (7 miles). The site is well located for the Broads, the coast and there are some really lovely villages in the surrounding area. I have ancestry from some of them (Worstead and the surrounding villages) so you might say I am biased but as Norfolk villages go there are some of the best. Bacton Woods is great for walking the dogs or for picnicing and seems popular with cyclists as the trails are evident in the woods I have to say the wifi on site was excellent and is better than a lot of club sites we have been to. We were parked about 10 yards from the water tap and the wifi booster is on the building behind so I cannot atest to the quality of the signal across the entire site, however, but at least 3 pitches would have as good a signal as we did. Overall our stay was very good, relaxing and enjoyable. Tony and Ros were very nice, approachable and available, but not in your face - some sites you never see the owner after they have collected their money, which is fine if everything is as it should be and there are no problems. I would rate Lighthouse View Paddock a 5 star site. I would even go as far as to say the best grass site we have been to.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Lighthouse View Paddock CL Site. The CL owner has contacted us as they would like to make sure everyone is accessing their site the correct way. They do not recommend that members enter Grub Street from the south as it would involve travelling the whole length of a narrow Norfolk Bye-way with very few passing places. Sat-navs will also put people in the wrong  route and send them this way. As such the CL advises people to disregard the sat-nav when in the Happisburgh area and follow the local directions as published on the maps tab on their site page on the Club website. Also the CL has a specially angled entrance way to facilitate ease of access from the north end of Grub Street for caravanners and motorhome owners so this is the ideal access route. We hope that people find this information useful for future visits.

lighthouse View Paddock

We have just returned home after spending 7 delightful days at Ros and Tony's site. From the moment we arrived our hosts ensured that we were happily settled in, and even offered to help set up our awning! The site is an easy walk to the sandy beach at Happisburgh, and a short drive away there are many other beaches to explore, as well as inland towns and villages. As previously rated in other reviews there is a pub and small shop in the village, but for larger shopping trips there is a Tesco in the nearby town of Stalham. We would certainly recommend this site for a peaceful, relaxed holiday.

peaceful, welcoming and beautiful

Just returned from 6 nights. What a lovely site with lovely owners. You could see the lighthouse from the site and walk there across the fields. Local pub good food but very busy, best to book if eating. Loads to do locally and beaches within walking distance. Tony and Roz have done a wonderful job, information leaflets available. Would definitely return if we got time. Sue, Mark and Tye the dog

One of the best we've been to

A truely wonderful site , everyone receives a warm welcome from Tony & Roz with lots of local information and a lot of thought goes into where they place you on site. Pitches are huge and level with short grass and ample hook up points The walk to the beach is 15 minutes and well worth it , the beach is dog friendly and best visited later at night so you can see the lighthouse working Tony and Roz are always on hand if needed but are happy to leave you to enjoy your break as well , perfect balance I can see this new site going from strength to strength in the years to come and hopefully we'll be back soon

Lighthouse view

We were made very welcome by the site owners who keep the grounds in a lovely condition. A flat, spacious campsite, with no road noise and a lovely view of the light house nearby. Some lovely walks nearby, to the beach, the village and we also did the circular walk which takes you along the coastal path. We highly recommend this site for a relaxing holiday in tranquil surroundings.

Wonderful new CL

We were made really welcome by Ros and Tony, they have worked so hard to develop this lovely new CL. The angled entrance makes access from the narrow lane easy. It is spacious and level, peaceful with easy access to the coast and other attractions. The walk to the Hill House Inn took about 20 mins and was worth the walk, excellent specials menu and well kept real ale. The beach is dog friendly and walkable from the site. If you want to take the car (or small motorhome) there is pay & display car parking on the cliff top and a small cafe on the access road.

Light house View

Just like to say a big thank you to Ros &Tony, we have had a great holiday, the site is perfect lots of space to spread out. Very dog friendly area even the locals put water out for your dog, everybody we met had a warm welcome. The beech is only ten minutes away, we only used the car once during our weeks stay as there is so much walking right from your door our springer is tired for once!! Great Place we will return.
