Amazing 10 days.

We arrived at Longfield Farm having come through villages from Williton via Bridgwater and Street. There were some tight spots with the caravan on tow, however we arrived safely. The day was very hot but we quickly got set up. We had a wonderful stay especially getting to know the owners Mr and Mrs Shields and their lovely but amusing dogs. We shared together about where my wife grew up in Somerset and Katherine told us about their church in Wincanton where we went on the Sunday and received a lovely welcome at Wincanton Community Church. On site we enjoyed watching the many sheep in the fields around us, most of the time we were the only ones on site. The weather was too hot to do a lot of walking and my health is not too good either so we spent time in Stourhead a wonderful National Trust place near by. Thank you so much Katherine and Steven for welcoming us to your field, it was fun seeing your dog try to steal my sock and my wife's flip flop only to drop then a few feet away. It all went together to make our holiday so very special.

your own campsite

if you want peace and quiet, this will do the job. great views, quiet, we were the only ones there. dark skies so good star view. And the swallows. used twice now, definitely a place to come if you want to switch off, yet still be close enought to Bruton, Hauser and Wirth, Stourhead, etc

Great views and very quiet

This is a truly remote location with stunning views. Booked for one night, was the only van there and took a while to find a level spot so would definitely recommend bringing levelling ramps. Limited facilities, but lovely owners and their dog called Doug, best night's sleep in ages thanks to how quiet it was. Recommended if you want to get away from it all!

Weekend stay

Stayed here for the weekend and had the CL to ourselves. Very peaceful and excellent views of the tower. Lovely walking through the forest. We recommend this site and will return soon.

Lovely CL with friendly owners

Stayed at end of May after a very heavy rainfall. Owners were very helpful, especially when I got stuck, (my fault). Walked to King Alfred's Tower through owner's fields and had an enjoyable day even though it was raining. Close to Haynes Motor Museum and Stourhead House. Great views from site. Very relaxing with sheep and lambs in neighbouring fields. This was our second visit and will return.

Peaceful, Country CL

We spent an enjoyable time on this friendly site. We love to go back to basics and we did in this green farming area where we could watch the sheep and lambs. And we were, as others have said, a short trip to large woods which were great for walks to keep the dog cool on the lovely sunny days we were lucky enough to have. We also walked from site to Alfred's Tower. We will without doubt return.

Good location

We only stayed for one night as had booked tickets for Stourhead the following day. Good views of Alfred's Tower from site which you can walk to from site through owners fields. Parked on hardstanding which is nearer the road so some traffic noise, you would not hear this if parked in field. Great location for Stourhead, only 4 miles away. Had lovely walk in local wooded area, less than 10 minute drive away. Would recommend this site for visiting Stourhead and if you fancy walking to Alfred's Tower and if you like country walks. Would stay again if in the area.

Rural CL with fabulous views.

A lovely quiet CL, with excellent instructions to find location. ( would be an excellent stop over from the busy A303) Easy access, with drive long enough to accommodate 7.5 meter caravan before going through gate. Large field, sloping in places, so bring levelling blocks just in case! But there is plenty of space. Two motor homes -one large, there at the same time, who didn't have any access problems. Views all around & Alfreds Tower. Working farm, so a little daytime noise which we anticipated - wasn't a problem. No recycling (that we noticed) Hard standing area is closer to the road & barn .Friendly welcoming owners. As the previous review says, everything is accurately described in the description. NT Stourhead a short distance away - ( it also has a CL, but this one is so much nicer!) The Old Red lion pub has the same lovely views across the valley . A warm welcome there & very nice home cooked pub food. Overhaul a nice quiet pretty rural location & we would highly recommend if you are happy using your own facilities.

What it says on the can.

‘What it says on the can’ The site write up is so appropriate and as it is. A most delightful welcome and the owners so helpful. Peaceful site, hard standing is level and pleasant views. As we were at the site we were able to walk across the owners fields to the public footpath to Alfreds tower, approx 2.5 miles max. A beautiful walk. If you are particularly of a walking mind you can walk to Stourhead by various routes through the forest. A days walk there and back. Lovely people, access to loads of places, Abslotuley recommended.Really good value. Mrs Powell
