Great site

Just spent 5 nights here. Stunning views and we were blessed with good weather which meant fantastic sunsets over t Duddon Sands. Spacious pitches, plenty of water taps, clean toilets and showers. A great base for exploring Southern Lake District. Heed the advice about how to get here !! Once you are a couple of miles past Ulverston heading west it is safe to engage sat nav, be aware the last few miles are on narrow busy roads. Just as a curiosity we drove out of Ulverston, without the caravanm and used the sat nav, never again, it took us on tracks with car mirrors catching the hedge on both sides at the same time and the road surface was very rough

Relaxing and Idyllic

A small pleasant, quiet, well maintained site on working farm. The site is well laid out. All pitches hardstanding with electric hook ups and a tap between 2 pitches. The grass is mown and well kept. Overlooks Duddon estuary but views in all directions are spectacular. We went to the farm to pay but as this is a working farm no one was around. The owner knocked on our caravan door around teatime to collect our payment. Clean, heated shower block. 3 rooms: 2 with washbasin, shower and toilet. 1 with washbasin and toilet. Walks available directly from campsite. can recommend the walk along the shore of the estuary but check tide times! Short drive to shops and pubs. Best value CL we have been on recently, even though energy price have caused a necessary increase from 1st October 2023. It will be our 'go to' CL. Look forward to returning soon.

We must agree!

What a great site and location!! The toilets and showers are bonus and the showers must be the most powerful we’ve ever had! The location is perfect for this quiet corner of Cumbria, with easy access to the Duddon estuary and Ulverston on the other side. Sandscale Haws nature reserve is just down the coast for lovely walks and walking (or riding) the Ulverston canal to the sea and visiting the pub at the end makes for a nice afternoon. We can also recommend taking the small foot ferry from Roa Island, across to Piel Island to see the “king”. We definitely hope to return - thank you, Tracy.

Stunning views

We have just returned from a 3 night Easter break at this site and wish we could have stayed longer. It was idyllic! The site is very well laid out and the hardstanding pitches are large and spacious. The grass is so lush and beautifully mown and kept. The views in all directions are spectacular- we saw two lovely sunsets. The shower room is clean and the showers are hot and powerful. if you have children, there is a lovely walk across the fields over a perfect little bridge for Pooh sticks to a great children's playground. There are some pretty (if hilly!) lanes for cycling and a beautiful walk along the shores of the estuary (takes about an hour, directly from site) Highly recommended and we definitely hope to go back.

Great little site

Stayed here the last two New Year's. The site has hard standing pitches, all with electric hook ups and a nice clean and heated shower block with 4 loos and 2 showers/wet rooms so great facilities for a CL. The owner is very friendly/welcoming but as this is a working farm you are very much left to get on with your stay etc. On arrival pitch up and the owner will come down from the farm at some point during your stay. We found the Ship Inn to be a nice little village pub, about a mile walk away in Kirkby-in-Furness. The site's location makes it ideal for exploring the South Western Lakes and in particular the Duddon valley. Overall a great value site with good facilities.

A Cumbrian gem

Booked by phone and Tracey advised on preferred payment and told us to take our pick from available pitches on arrival. We arrived to find beautifully cut grass, borderline bowling green standards. Hard standing slots woven into the grass, brilliant. Easy access to water on each pitch. A super shower and toilet block is onsite, clean, warm and lovely hot showers. We always use our own facilities but even we gave in and used these. Plenty of bins for recycling etc. The views are staggeringly good, a nice walk (under a mile) into the Village for the 2 pubs, shop and train station. Tracey was a great host, very friendly, knowledgeable of the area and her relaxed attitude onsite appealed to our laid back approach to holidays. Definitely one for us to return to, terrific value for money and hugely enjoyed.

Immaculately kept site with stunning views

Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of May. The site is beautiful and has the most gorgeous views over the fields to the water. We went for a walk to a couple of nearby pubs. Quite steep coming back at times but manageable and a lovely walk. Ideal spot for exploring the Furness area. Can highly recommend Furness Abbey and a walk round the woodland nearby. Stunning. Would definitely return to this site if we were in the area.

Lovely peaceful location

We have just returned from a lovely 4 night stay at the farm. The pitches were exceedingly spacious with a shared tap next to the EHU. The shower/toilet block was excellent with two large rooms each containing a shower, toilet and sink and two smaller rooms containing a toilet and sink. As it is a working farm you expect to see and hear farmyard activity but this only adds to the enjoyment, aside from the noise from the sheep and cows there is absolute peace and quiet. A short walk from the farm is a small village with a cricket pitch (I even took in a game on the Saturday), a childrens playground, a pub and shop. Access was easy (providing you come in the recommended route from the south). The last 150 yards is down a narrow track but there is plenty of visibility and ample room to manoeuvre into the site itself. Tracey was very friendly and welcoming, even bringing us some ear plugs as some noisy grass collecting was due to over run into the evening. As it happens we didn't hear a thing. A thoroughly enjoyable relaxing stay in a lovely location.

Campervan Visit September 2021

Very friendly welcome to immaculately kept site with shared facilities. Well organised and good communication from the owner. Map of local footpaths and other information at the facilities. Walks possible along the estuary and over the fells. Good views from most pitches. The Greyhound in Grizebeck does very good pub food - well worth a visit. Shop in village for essentials / papers.

Great value for money !

This was only our 4th outing so still trying to find our feet with our Motorhome and using sites. We had a bit of trouble finding the site initially as we were advised to ignore Sat Nav but actually Sat Nav was spot on! Bigger site than expected and we easily found a free spot and hooked up. Now I think there might have been an a problem with the point we initially plugged into as we woke up one morning really cold as the electric had tripped over night and we only had the heating on low so wasnt pulling too many amps. Anyway i switched to the other side of the hookup and it remained stable for the rest of our stay. Then again it could have been me :-) Because you are on an elevated site you get great views of the surrounding area. The weather wasnt great but hey it was a winter break so we werent expecting much. The only issue we had at the time of stay was that there was some logging going on at the back of the farm and it started early and finished quite late, but again its winter so not really a normal time to stop on a site I guess. There was a great shower block with 2 showers and toilets plus another 2 toilets and it was all heated. Now if I wasnt still shielding (transplant paitient) I would have used these but that would be for a time when I have had my full vaccine. Short walk into the village below that has a shop and a pub and from there you can get down to the train station and go over the bridge to the side that lets you onto the beach so that you can have a good walk (but watch out for quicksand!) Overall a good stay and will go back in better weather we think.
