Wet weather but warm welcome!

Arrived at the site to be met by Mark, who was very friendly and informative. Given the weather forecast, he wondered if we might need towing off in the morning and that proved to be the case, sadly. It absolutely poured all night and the beautifully flat site was pretty wet the next morning, but with a tug from the 4x4 there was no problem (front wheel drive fiat motorhome - hopeless in the wet!!). Mark and Tasha couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, and the information pack was excellent, along with the site (weather aside) and the facilities. Sadly, just an overnight stop for us, so we might have to come back for a longer stay. Fair play to our neighbours onsite though - barbecueing in the very cold evening - we got straight inside and lit the gas fire! Go find this place - you won't regret it.

Hospitality at its best

Despite many significant challenges Mark and Tasha Merrin have created a beautiful haven at Maisie Mays. They have worked with passion and it shows. For those who are looking for peace and tranquility with truly wonderful hosts this is the place. If you’re visiting the area don’t hesitate to book. You won’t be disappointed. We wish them every success as they continue to work and improve on their gem of a site. Anne and David Bowmer

Fantastic CL Site

Tongue in cheek, we really don't want to write a review on this site so we can keep it to ourselves. However, we have just spent the weekend with Mark and Natasha at this relatively new site and we can honestly say that it is one of the best sites we have stayed at. It has everything you need at a CL site, Mark and Natasha have spent lots of time and effort creating the perfect environment for a CL experience. Overall, a lovely couple who were so helpful and friendly with a perfect little site and one that we will certainly be returning to regularly - highly recommend! Jackie & Des

A beauat Claypoletiful CL site is Maisie Mays

Mark and Natasha are warm and welcoming on their very pretty CL site. The site is quiet and peaceful with good spaced pitches interspersed with picnic tables. Good TV and wi-fi reception and useful 16 amp power available. Facilities are excellent for recycling and disposal. Information pack is offered on arrival giving all local attractions, shops and useful telephone information in case of emergencies. Our little dog loves the walks up the lane and around the site. This is our second visit in two months and will certainly be returning next year.

Quiet rural site

Great communication from the owner in response to reservation and booking a pitch. Good directions to site, which is rural - 1 mile down a lane off the main road, and down the single track road, over the railway crossing. Welcomed on arrival by the owners, who opened the gate and guided us to our pitch. Far reaching views over fields. Basics of EHU, fresh water tap, recycling and waste bins on site. Entrance was hard core and all very tidy. Hedge border recently planted. Trains could be heard in the background and was certainly not intrusive - the sound of birdsong was amazing. 1 mile walk on roadway - very little traffic despite the farms nearby - to local pub, Five Bells in Claypole, which served excellent Sunday lunch. Locals and bar staff very friendly and dog biscuit treats on the bar! Great range of beers. Enjoyed a chat with the site owners, Mark and Tasha, over a couple of beers in the sunshine, who lived adjacent to the site and who couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Lots of great walks from the site, without going on main roads. An adults only site, we loved it here and will be back.

Warm welcome from site owners

The site is located close to end of long single track road. This access road crosses a main railway line close to the village. Although some distant train and vehicle sounds could be heard on the site, this was not at all obtrusive. The owners were very hospitable and welcoming. This is a spacious site which has only recently opened and they have obviously given the layout and facilities a great deal of thought and attention, although at the time of this review, electricity had yet to be connected. Being situated close to the main A1 trunk road, this a useful stopover site, although there are some lovely towns, villages and tourist attractions in the general area for those intending a longer stay. Claypole itself is a pleasant little village, with some good local amenities and a nice pub which serves food. The surrounding landscape mainly comprises flat farmland. We would stay again if in the area.
