£3NIGHTS IN AUGUST 2023

A great CL with a warm welcome from the owners, the site is spacious and has all the amenities we required. We told Betty, when we booked that we were bringing our 2 grandsons and at her request we ensured they were not noisy or played football. I have no hesitation in recommending the site to other members. The CCTV cameras did not bother us and clearly add to the site by providing an oversight for any problems that may occur with unwanted visitors or disruptive behaviour by aged caravanners.

The Perfect CL

Stayed here for 6 nights whilst visiting family and friends , middle of July .Found John to be the most welcoming and friendliest CL owner we have come across for a long time. The site is a good size , well screened from the road and has the necessary basic facilities for self contained motorhomes and caravans. The addition of cctv cameras on the site is a welcome bonus to the feeling of security here.We will be using this site in the future whenever visiting or passing through on our way further north.

Brilliant 👏

John and Betty couldn't have been more accommodating, lovely couple, well worth a visit, plenty of CCTV to make you feel safe. We will be regular visitors at this jewel of a site. Stuart and Lindsay Andrews

won't be returning here.

We stayed here for one night some time ago with dogs. It was not a dog friendly experience at all. We were told not to walk the dogs on the site but to take them out onto a road with no pavements. It is a very cat oriented site. I found the excessive use of security cameras around the site intrusive and insulting.

Discrimination Hate Speech racism

We booked a pitch to come and spend Easter weekend near Doncaster visiting friends with our children (7 & 10) They were aware we were arriving with children. When we arrived they would not let us on the site. Mr Hall proceeded to ask me if we were travellers and told me he would not let us on site as he didn’t allow vans. My husband is a carpenter and we tow our caravan with a van. We travelled 400 miles to be turned away at 7.30pm with no other options just because we drive a VAN!!! I will be reporting them to the Caravan & Motorhome club and the police. Disgusting!

Disappointed

We have visited this site for a few years we love the location and the pub down the road is brilliant. John got us out of a difficult situation during storm Arwen and accepted the booking at short notice. On our return from an anniversary meal John came over to switch over our power cable as it was using to much electricity as it is a large van. This upset us as we are very mindful of electricity and treated usage as it was 10 amp regardless of which power supply source we were using. I informed him that although our caravan is large it is modern and economical. We have had similar clashes in the past and will not be using the site again. It is a shame as it is a gem of a site.

perfect little stop over

Just a last minute escape Saturday night break, lovely field, very nicely maintained and horses to entertain you. Would recommend. I cannot see how how to add a photo but it is very nice!

Relaxing stay

We spent 3 nights at this lovely, peaceful site that is located in a delightful village. John and Betty were out when we arrived but one of their regular visitors to the site gave us a warm welcome on their behalf. In fact everyone else on the site was very friendly too. On their return John came over to check that we were settled and everything was okay. There are plenty of opportunities for strolling after enjoying a delicious, reasonably priced meal at the local pub, the Baxter Arms, the ales were good too. The local roads are very quiet and there is a useful co-op a short distance away in Askern. We would certainly return if we were ever in the area. Thank you John and Betty for a very enjoyable stay.

A Little Yorkshire Gem

Just spent two nights at this well manicured basic CL. The owners, John and Betty Hall, are one of the nicest couples you could wish to meet, on hand if needed, but discreetly out of site otherwise, very friendly but not overbearing, in fact, the perfect hosts. Mandalay has three hard standings made up of paviers, and four grass pitches. The grass is well kept as are the hedges that surround the CL, there is 24hr cctv provided and sensory lights at night. Each pitch has its own dustbin and bins are provided for recycling of glass, plastic, paper etc. Waste water is piped to a beck at the rear of each pitch, if you don't have your own waste pipe then John has lots as well as blocks of wood to provide the right angle for draining. Drinking water is provided by taps at each end of the site, so no long hauls to fill up. The chemical waste empty point is a manhole cover with good handles to aid lifting, it is also quite light to lift, only Elsan green is allowed to be used, or, as in our case, Lidl Bio capsules are ok. there is also a tap to rinse out your tank with. Ajoining the CL through a hedge is a Rally Field with its own facilities, so no worry about queuing to empty or fill etc. also, in a smaller field separated by bollards is space for a couple of motorhomes used by family members. These additions in no way encroach on the CL or the services provided. Dog walks are in abundance, if you leave the site and turn right on the road, walk for thirty yards and on the left is a public footpath over various stiles and railway sleepers through ajoining fields for as long as you like to walk, really lovely, alternatively turn left out of site and walk up the road for fifty yards then turn right and you can let your dog free on a safe walk out into the country. The local pub The Baxters Arms, is literally five minutes walk (or mobility scooter) from site, It's very dog friendly and serves great ales and good food at not too steep a price, a proper pub with typical Yorkshire fare, friendliness and ambiance. Again, turn left out of site, walk fifty yards up the road , turn left again and follow the road for two hundred yards, the pub is on the right, with a large car park. As john told us,"Best pub for thirty miles ", he's right too. This great little CL is now £12 per night (up from £10) and provides 10amp electricity, a bit out in the sticks, but the roads to and from are good, as is the wide entrance. A slight downside is the distant noise of mainline trains at various times, but if, like us, you are off site most of the day, then it is not noticeable, even during the night. Mandalay is a site that we would definitely use again and we gladly recommend this site to others. Final point, own facilities are essential.

A good CL

Stayed at this CL for two nights at the end of September. Mrs Hall very welcoming and the CL was easy to find. Mostly grass pitches, each with own bin and electric. Water and waste point only a short walk. Recycling bins not clearly marked but that is our only minor niggle. Would stay here again when in area. There is no campers toilet on site.
