Extremely Rude Host

Firstly I have been a camper for over 40 years and this is my first bad review. It was my partner's Birthday and we were looking forward to our weekend away. I made a call in the early afternoon to let Karen know that we would be late arriving that evening and asked her if it was ok, yes no problem she replied just call me when you arrive as you may run into traffic which is exactly what we did and we were around 45 minutes late - it was half past 9 when we arrived. My partner jumped out of the vehicle to say sorry we were late and was immediately cut off and shushed and told to be quiet - my partner is gently spoken. Not hearing this I then jumped out of the vehicle where I also started to say sorry we were a bit late and was also cut off - be quite she said very abruptly to me - people have been in bed a long long time now - looking at the other vans I noticed all there lights were still on and could here tvs playing ? This is the pitch she snarled and make sure your quite - I felt like a scolded toddler - we don't normally accept late arrivals she snapped again ? park here and don't make any noise - oh and you won't be needing electricity tonight will you, not waiting for an answer she then stormed off. We had no idea where the water or showers and toilets were, but mainly we were left stunned in disbelief at the vile way we had just been spoken too - especially when it was all pre arranged - not that you would talk to anyone the way she did to us anyway - it was absolutely disgraceful. We decided that instead of staying the 3 nights planned that the next morning we would move to a more friendly campsite. I felt terrible as it was my partner's birthday and supposed to be a treat but this disgusting woman had wrecked it. On our return home we looked at other reviews where we found out that other people had also been treat badly on Tripadvisor. So I strongly recommend you steer well clear of this campsite - while it would appear that sometimes Karen can be polite it is also evident that she can be a vile person who could potentially ruin your holiday as she did ours. I will be speaking with the caravan club directly about this site as I would hate for others to experience what we did - she is not worthy of membership.

Peaceful Stay

Stayed for a couple of nights over Easter Weekend. Received a friendly welcome from the host. The path to the village was inaccessible due to the heavy rain recently, however we walked to Stratford both days. The path is directly alongside the main road initially and some of the traffic was travelling quite fast but it wasn't overly busy. Site was very peaceful, facilities were adequate and clean. The egg/cake shed was a nice addition. Would definitely stay again when next in the area.

Great site with easy access to centre of Stratford

Great caravan site with easy access to Stratford upon Avon by bus, better than paying car park fees. Owners very nice and very helpful. Site well laid out with easy access to all needs and has small shower / WC block, all very clean. Reading other reviews, Need to say that the site fees and paying for electricity is no different than for many CL sites, we have had two short breaks here over the last 14 days and will definitely be using next year. Good restaurants and takeaways located a short distance away. A must try if you like Indian was Aladdins near Tiddington. Plenty of places to visit in the area and a short distance away. Plenty of good local walks a bit muddy when we were there but it was last week

Far too expensive

Firstly let me say, this is a very nice CL, great shower provided at 50p and 2 toilets available, all kept very clean and tidy. Lovely location so close to Stratford on Avon and great walks from the site through to Clifford Chambers. My only issue is the cost, £23 plus electricity card of £4 per night. During 2021 the nightly charge was £15 including electricity, I realise we are all in the middle of a cost of living crisis but this price hike is too much. After 35 years of visiting this lovely CL, I’m sad to say we won’t be back.

Beautiful little site

We had a warm welcome and booking in was easy. Shower facilities were kept beautifully clean throughout our stay. Pleasant walk by public footpath into local village . From where numerous bus routes into town . Pub In the village New Inn serving food was an extra. Everything here you could need is provided and we will definitely return . Well done to Karen and partner. Keep up the good work. One of the best we have stayed on.

A Friendly Site in a Great Location

The site is in a perfect location, being an easy drive or ride into Stratford. Being in a motorhome, we cycled and walked from our pitch, choosing to walk into the town via the route provided on a map by the owner. Due to the energy prices, the site is having to charge separately for electricity at the beginning of campers' stay. We weren't sure how much we would use so ended up overpaying and receiving a refund at the end. We stayed in a reasonably warm late February and used £5.90 worth of electricity over three nights (although we did use our own shower due to the site shower being on a meter). This seemed reasonable and why should we pay the same as a 'van covered in solar panels? The owner is really nice and friendly and booking in is simple. The facilities were adequate when we were there but they might struggle a bit in the peak season, with the non-CL area and rally field. This is a working farm so may produce a few smells at times. It certainly didn't bother us and we had the bonus of young lambs next to our pitch. The honesty shed with honey, eggs and marmalade was a bonus. A great little site and we'll certainly be returning!

First time visitors.

Just arrived home after a great 10 day holiday at Monks Barn Farm CL, we pitched up on the lovely flat level grass as the weather was perfect, they is some road noise but didn't spoil our stay at all, The shower 20p for 5 minutes is by far the cheapest we've seen on any CL. Always nice a clean as well, The home made cakes. jams & honey were fantastic, sadly came home heavier than I arrived. The bus stop is about a 1/2 mile walk on the pathway to the Right of the entrance Will I be returning, you bet I will. Well done Karen for all your hard work behind the scenes.

Lovely site ideal for visiting Stratford

We have a Motorhome so location for walking , cycling or public transport is our priority. The site nice and flat with plenty of space we chose a pitch on grass but there were some hard standing. There is some road noise but not enough to bother us. Kare provide us with map of walks to village & into Stratford. We did river walk to Clifford Chambers & stopped at pub. We chose to cycle into Stratford as too hot! As road busy we crossed & rode on footpath until picked up cycle paths - about 15 minutes to get into Stratford. We also did the Stratford Greenway to Long Heaton an old tramway about 10 miles total there & back. We did use shower at 20p but 6 minutes for us was enough so good value. Only here for 3 nights but will be back here again as only an hour from home .

Good little site let down by toilets and showers

Ideal location close to Stratford, a little bit of daytime road noise but not excessive.Pitches a good size and level, friendly helpful owner but let down by the toilet and shower facilities. There was no running hot water in the toilet or shower wash basins when we visited, the shower ran hot and cold randomly with poor water pressure and cleaning not the best( especially around the window area) Overall,I think a little overpriced compared to other sites we have visited.

Not quite the experience of others

Booked the site to attend the Caravan and Motorhome Show well in advance. All comms were great - even when we had to delay our arrival by 24 hours due to the motorhome having a flat battery! But the eather was so bad that maybe was a blessing in disguise. Arrival procedure similar to other CL sites we have been to - you just phone a number an they tell you where to park. The rest is up to you to sort out. The toilets, whilst clean and nice fresh tiles was freezing! A radiator barely 2 foot high to heat a barn room 20ft sq with an open barn door is never going to work. No-where to hand your clothes and be warned - you need 20p coins to feed the shower - something we didn't know and should really be flagged up prior to arrival please. Final point - Karen did keep our price at the 2021 rate (£17) but there was a notice in the bathroom stating that due to energy prices increasing the rate for 2022 will be £25. That's an increase of 47%. So that is suggesting that ALL the costs of running a CL are electricity and electricity alone? I do hope this trend isn't repeated elsewhere. I'm sure the site is a great location for exploring and walking but we just used it as a base prior to attending the show so can't comment on that side of things.
