A view of the sea

Stayed here for 3 nights in September - easy to find and book in. Quiet and peaceful even though fully booked. You can walk to Whitby directly from the site - it took us just over an hour. Also caught the train from Ruswarp to Grosmont and enjoyed seeing the steam train along the track. Best fish and chips ever in Whitby!

Fantastic CL

Stayed recently for four nights - tried to get an extra night but fully booked. Easy to find and excellent choice of pitches on arrival. Enjoyed watching the lambs and rabbits in the field behind the pitch and lots of birdsong. Took the Monks Walk from site - tip - ask directions before you set off or walk an extra mile or two as we did until a fellow walker pointed us in the right direction. For ease, after the first grassy hill its straight across the small tarmac road - down the grassy hill opposite - cross the bridge and turn left ( don't take the 2nd bridge on the right). At the end of the path continue downhill into Ruswarp and then turn right over the railway line - take signposted path to Whitby on the right. Thoroughly enjoyed all the local area had to offer - walked miles and had a really relaxing time. Site was perfect but sadly the local pub had still to re-open .....but there's always next time!

What a gem!

What a wonderful little gem of a site. Perfect pitches and lovely people. We booked on for seven nights and even stayed an extra one. If work didn’t call think we’d still be there. Many thanks Gordon and Judith. Look forward to returning if you’ll have us. Pork Pies from Jackson’s in Ruswarp a must also.

Whitby wonder

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks stay at this lovely CL. This was our first stay but won’t be our last. Although on a small working farm don’t let this put you off as the farm activity did not impact on the CL. The pitches are all hard standing and the facilities such as the drinking water and disposal area are well kept. The views across the fields to Whitby are stunning and there is a public footpath which links to the Cinder track, an old railway line which is now a well used public footpath. The distance is approximately 3mls. The village of Sneaton is small and quite although it does have its own pub which is less than 5 mins walk from the site. Unfortunately it was not open during our stay. Also try an ice cream from Beacon Farm next door which makes and sells its own ice cream. The site is easy to access and is a great base from which to explore this area.

Gem of a site

Oh my, what a beautiful site. Easy access, with mainly flat, and all hard pitches with stunning views out to sea and Whitby. As other reviewers have stated there is a walk directly from the site into Whitby, its quite a strenuous walk, both down to Whitby and the long haul back up. It took us about an hour but if you can only do one way it is worth doing, the views from the Cinder Track over the viaduct is stunning, walk it at least once, it's worth it. The next day we cycled into Whitby, cycle into Ruswarp and then pick up the Cinder Track cycle path into Whitby. Beacon Farm is practically next door, don't miss trying some of their ice cream and there is a lovely little tea parlour, which sadly we didn't have time to try but it looked delicious when we called in for our tubs of ice cream to pop in the motorhome freezer. Ruswarp has a train station where I believe you can get the train to Pickering or various stops along the way, all on the North Yorkshire Moors picturesque railway. Row boats are also available to hire in Ruswarp. Had a very nice meal at the pub literally just a short stroll along from the camp site. There are no showers or toilets on this site but that is not an issue for us and cannot wait to return to this site, an ideal location for so many places and attractions in the area but if like us you're in a motorhome and don't tend to move about once on site the location of this CL means there is so much to see and do close at hand.

Lovely CL site to stay at Whitby.

This is a lovely little CL site to visit Whitby. Sat Nav took us straight to the site no bother. It has beautiful views looking across to the sea and of Whitby Abbey. The site is well kept and very clean. Whitby is only a 10 minute drive away or if you wanted to walk like we did with our dog there is a lovely walk from the site down in to Whitby itself which took us about an hour , it was all down hill so we got a taxi back which was £7.00. Once in Whitby we wondered around all the lovely streets and walked up to the Abbey. We also went to Falling Foss waterfall which was beautiful and had a lovely walk into the forrest and after sat outside the outdoor tea room which was really pleasant . There is a pub called The Wilson Arms just along the road from the site which serves lovely meals. I would definitley come back to Monks Farm.

Monks Farm, Sneaton, Whitby, February visit.

This is a lovely peaceful site with great views of Whitby Abbey and the harbour lighthouse in the distance. It has 6 H/S pitches with EHU, and adjacent is a flagged footpath, Monks Trod, which is ideal for taking ones dog and in fact can be used to walk all the way down to Whitby itself, or to join the cinder track, the old railway line which extends as far as Ravenscar and then onto Scarborough and is ideal for cycling as well as walking. The site is easily access being less than 1/2 ml off the B1416 in the village of Sneaton itself, although the drive from Runswick, to the north does involve two very steep hills, including Oakley Bank. Care is required at the entrance to the site if one has a long unit. There is a little pub 50yds to the left of the farm entrance as well as a tearoom at Beacon Farm. The site is ideal for visiting lots of interesting places in the area, such as Robin Hood's Bay, Snaithes and Runswick Bay, as well as Whitby, and the NY Moors Railway can be accessed about 4 mls away at Grosmont. This is a site that we will definitely use again in the future.

What a great CL - Judith was lovely :-)

We went at half term - February 2019 - we had a lovely time - great pitch, facilities and very warm welcome from Judith and Gordon. They were very accommodating and benefit from being open all year round. Easy access to Whitby and the surrounding area. Highly recommend the walk across Robin Hood Bay - lovely to see the seals in their natural environment. Thanks again - The Reynolds Family :-)

What a Cracker...!

We stayed here for a week late in November when the weather was horrible - but hey ho, such is the weather this time of year ! This is a well situated CL, all hard standings, excellent amenities all professionally done along with recycling, good TV and mobile reception. Plenty of walking in area and access to Whitby is only a few minutes away. Gordon is a character, a local farmer who's barns are full of old farm machinery and tractors etc which he is in the process (workload permitting) of renovating, he is fully versed on the local area and is only too willing to talk about it. Judith is a lovely lady and even came to say cheerio to us when we left. This site hasn't been open long so it needs us to support it and I imagine it will be a magnet once the word has got out about how good this site is. Thanks for a nice stay, (albeit wet, windy and misty). We fully intend to return in 2019 once the weather is a bit better.
