Highly recommended

We spent a lovely few days at this well run CL site. Emma and Craig, the owners have made us very welcome and although they have only been there since late last year, they have been very busy turning what was a neglected site into this charming and relaxing CL. There is even a hard standing pitch for those who prefer it! It's only a short drive to many of Dorset's best locations, so ideal for exploring the South coast. Emma and Craig told us a little about their future plans and we look forward to seeing the changes when we return to this site, which we definitely plan to do. Thank you for the yummy cakes Emma, we couldn't resist.

first class

We came to Mouse Cottage during whitsun. The site is immaculate the facilities clean. Lovely walk down to the river and very close proximity to Weymouth either by car or short walk to bus stops. Emma works tirelessly to keep the site nice and we admired how she never seems to stop. We are going back to the site in October and cannot wait. Thank you Emma for providing such an amazing site

Great little site

We loved this site when we read about it. It did not disappoint. To say Emma and Craig have only been there a few months we can only guess this is a site to revisit and watch for even more improvements.  So, please ignore those old negative reviews.   Mouse Cottage has a lovely approach and is hidden away in a shallow river valley.  We were warmly welcomed by Emma and had a great pitch.  Despite a flooding rainstorm the previous night and warnings in those the earlier reviews - the site drained well and was not a problem.  The very new reinforced grass drive-in was a great help. It is a well maintained site with shower, two toilets plus free washing machine, drier and micro-wave! The home made cakes were a temptation but we were on diets.  Emma, Craig, their children were friendly and fun with ideas and suggestions about where to visit and eat. Lots of each!  The surrounding fields are easily accessible and good for riverside dog-walks. The horses, stables and dog friendly site was a joy from start to finish. Thanks again Emma for a memorable stay!

Would Recommend this Site

You will receive a warm welcome from Craig and Emma who have turned this site around making many improvements since taking over in December. They have put in extra drainage and the plastic grass protection grids for car and caravan but leaving just grass for awning is brilliant much better than the normal hard standing. There are however two extra gravel hard standings in case of very bad weather. The shower and toilets are clean and well maintained and no extra charge for use of shower. There is also a small kitchen with kettle, microwave washing machine and tumble dryer at no extra cost. There are two fields where you can walk the dog plus a local footpath nearby. The site is very peaceful and homely. It is only a seven minute drive to Weymouth and there are plenty of places you can take a dog in if you wish to go for a meal. Just a short distance away on the way into Weymouth are two large supermarkets. We will certainly be returning

Will be one of the best

We almost cancelled as Storm Katie had done her worst and we imagined a soggy field. However, Emma was so enthusiastic and informed us that there was a hardstanding available. Won over we stayed at Mouse Cottage from Monday to Friday. Craig has laid a plastic grid into the grass to improve grip and drainage. It seems to be working and our motorhome sat firmly at the top of its levelling blocks with no problems. The toilet/shower block was most welcome. The new black waste disposal facility is first rate and indicates the level of care that Emma and Craig will put into the site's development as they continue to improve it. The free wi-fi is a real bonus and allowed us to keep track of our son's adventures in Vietnam, giving us peace of mind. The location is excellent and we walked into Weymouth and as far as Portland. We enjoyed some excellent restaurants and would recommend the 'King and Thai' in Dorchester as representing real value and quality. There are excellent shops nearby, with well priced fuel too. Mouse Cottage is a lovely site run by a super family.

Perfect for exploring Portland

We stayed at Mouse Cottage at the end of January as a base for exploring Portland. Craig and Emma were proactive in making us feel welcome. Lovely facilities. We were limited to a particular space due to the ground elsewhere being too soggy for use but this was not a problem and Craig is working hard to resolve the drainage problems.

Lovely Stay, Lovely People.

We have been regular users of this cl for many years and have always loved it's tranquil location and accessibility to Weymouth. Emma and Craig gave us warm welcome, and can see their love and enthusiasm to make this a fantastic site. We will be returning soon.

SITE UPDATE FOR THE NEW OWNERS

My wife and have stayed at Mouse Cottage every month (Mar-Dec incl.) over the last 5 years and have booked similar dates in 2016. The new owners Emma and Craig took over Mouse Cottage at the beginning of Dec. When I first met them just after they moved in they admitted that this was new to them and hopefully gave them a few pointers in the right direction. They were extremely receptive to other members present and our improvement suggestions e.g. Wi-Fi, BBQ facilities, drainage, and improved black waste disposal. Having explained a few pointers on the site they were aware of drainage problems and would be addressing this. The previous owners had installed additional pipe drainage in the problem areas but it would appear that this has become blocked or was collapsed, and not maintained, hence the flooding. Craig and Emma have already made a number of improvements to the stable and yard lighting, the toilet facilities, new signage, jet washing, and vegetation maintenance. This is despite Emma and Craig both having full time commitments. The reason I have written this review is to reassure members that despite the current and addressable problems there are hundreds/if not thousands of members who love this site and return repeatedly like my wife and I, some for months on end. I would recommend that members read all the comments on this site The members who wrote the previous negative comments are correct as this was as it was on their visit (the old table tennis table is for the use of members) but they do not reflect the true value and benefits of this great site. The Site is changing for even better and improving with the “new broom”
