Fabulous!

Had a brilliant one night stay here on what turned out to be a very stormy afternoon and evening. After returning from walking our dogs during rain that was coming down sideways and extremely high winds Mrs MacInnes (the owner) couldn’t have been anymore helpful - assisting us to move our van to the most sheltered area and going above and beyond by tumble drying our saturated clothes and allowing us to put some of our belongings in her barn to keep them dry! Highly recommend this as a stopover!!

Mature Couple

Warm welcome from the very helpful and friendly owner. Very easy access. Good walks from the site, including to a lovely beach. Like CLs used to be - laid back and informal. Old machinery on the site gave it character. Great pity that this is the only CL on the Outer Hebrides - commercial sites good, but much more expensive.

Friendly welcome

Mrs MacInnes could not have been more friendly and welcoming. I was on my own when I arrived as my husband was cycling to meet me. Mrs MacInnes was very relaxed about where I pitched. It's still a working croft so of course there is going to be farming equipment dotted around, again part of the charm of many CLs. Plenty of walks and cycles from the site. We loved it here and would like to thank the owner/host for her hospitality, local knowledge and sense of humour for our 2 night stay. I would recommend it as an excellent place to stop whilst touring the Outer Hebrides.

Felt Unsafe

After yearning to visit the Outer Hebrides from being around 8 yrs old (Now 57) My wife, myself and my dog pulled onto the site early June for a 2 night stay with EHU. We love the intimate feel of a CL site as opposed to the larger clubsites, however, this site left us totally underwhelmed sadly. Not to mention worried. No greeting, despite knocking numerous times on different doors and windows (approx 13.30 hrs). No answer to my telephone call. Rusting Machinery strewn around CL area (what if we'd had children with us, how could they of safely played?). Open garage/large shed within the CL compound with no door, containing more machinery, tools and what appeared to be drums/containers of liquid substances!! Very scruffy, undefined and poorly kept pitch areas. (Couldn't make them out). We left feeling extremely sad and bewildered, not to mention very worried that we then had knowhere booked to stay. We found somewhere, but we don't feel this site does not currently meet the standards of all the other CAMC sites we have now visited. Come on North Boisdale. Is this acceptable and the vision you wish to portray?

Welcoming CL

An easy to find CL, as we came to it from the south, from Isle of Barra. As with many roads on the Outer Hebrides, this CL is situated on a single track road with passing places, so some care is needed when towing a twin axle caravan. Our arrival was very good, meeting a very happy site owner. The local area is fairlt flat, but over to the east there are some pleasant hills. A Coop supermarket is available within a couple of miles or so from the CL. This is a fairly basis CL, with usual water and waste arrangements, but the hardstanding is a bit rough in places. There is also some old farm machinery and buildings to the side of the CL which does take the edge off the surroundings. That apart, it is a very welcoming CL, with many places to see on both South Uist and Vatersay.

A Welcome haven

We arrived in Lochboisdale to incredibly high winds in early October. I called the CL and received a lovely welcome from a very jolly, cheerful lady host. The same lady gave us a lovely greeting on arrival (with her two little dogs) and made us feel very at home. This is a basic site but very tranquil and we enjoyed a scenic cross country cycle ride to the coast. The trails were deserted apart from a wandering hedgehog. A lovely stopping off place en route to further exploration.
