Delightful

Our first trip out in our new/very old caravan. We arrived on site on Friday intending to stay till Sunday. ( we stayed for 9 days) The weather was mixed, but the site was gloriously tranquil and when the sun shone it shone till it dropped below the north-western horizon. There are beautiful walks into Hart/Hesleden Dene from the site which, for the more determined walkers, can culminate in a visit to the beach at Crimdon. (google Little Terns) There are two very good food pubs (both of which host quizzes) within 300 yards of the site in the village of Hart which boasts a very old church with Anglo Saxon ruins still on view The village which was the administrative centre of the Anglo Saxon borough of Heortness has recently given up 90 Anglo-Saxon burials. All no more than 300 yards from the CL. https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/news/politics/council/saxon-burial-ground-containing-90-skeletons-found-hartlepool-housing-development-site-3105472 To be honest a fine, great value for money, friendly and conveniently situated retreat - for which I have nothing but praise. Thanks Frances and your family

Wonderful Stay

I really don’t want to share this site. It’s too good but the owners deserve it. Friendly and helpful owners. We spent three weeks here in July. Such a pleasant, natural, peaceful site. As you drive up the beautifully tended flower beds either side are very welcoming. The duck pond was covered in the most beautiful big buttercup like flowers. A very natural pond with coots chattering away. I walked down through the fields every other day to the beach with spectacular sea and countryside views. The other day I walked the opposite way through the peaceful countryside. Near to shops. Local pub did great food. Far enough to still be away from it all. We will definitely come back here every year. Look out for the monkey. If you need to recharge your batteries this is for you 😊

"Camper Beware"

This is a practically priced no-frills grass site that has all the normal facilities including EHU. It has five clearly marked pitches. Three of these pitches were occupied by seasonal workers who were very quiet and friendly. The fifth was vacant. On the second day a car and caravan parked near the middle of the site. The fifth pitch was still vacant. We decided to stay a few extra days and paid the owner. However, a motorhome with a commercial van arrived on the third day and were directed to park next to our motorhome on our pitch. We explained to the owner that this wrong to double park but was met with a shrug. We got our money back a left immediately.

Really enjoyed our stay

We spent 11 nights here in May and felt very comfortable next to the narrow country lane, used mainly by walkers. The site reminded me of a village green, with a wetland area adjacent frequented by wading birds. There is also a caravan storage site just along the lane. The site is not secure however and I can see how that might be a problem for some members, but for us it was honestly not an issue. In fact the only negative thing which occurred on our last night was a loud-voiced sweary woman in a caravan close to us, but that was hardly the fault of the owners who were most helpful, charging my battery and keeping us supplied with fresh eggs. Please remember the site is on a working farm, but again this was not any problem for us. We enjoyed the locality especially countryside walks and would not hesitate to stay here again.

No Privacy

The owners, who are very nice and welcoming people, should consider erecting signs asking members of the public, to respect the privacy of the site users. We found it difficult to sit outside our van during the day as dog walkers, cyclists, joggers etc. liked to stare over as they used the public path. On a couple of occasions, early on a morning, families in cars were gawping at our caravan just 20 yards away, whether they were visitors to the farm or just strange people I don't know. Apart from this the site was kept nice in a lovely area a short walk from a very nice village

Definitely worth a visit

Stayed here for a week at the end ovfJune 2018. It is a hidden gem, grass cut short, there was no litter around, hosts welcomed us and were very friendly. Everything you need from a CL. Plus it has wonderful sea views, is right next door to the historical Saxon church, plebty of lovely walking direct from the site. 2 lovely pubs for meals in the village, and the village is served by a regular bus service into Hartlepool centre,

One step away from derelict

An excellent site to avoid! Was probably ok in it's heyday (about 20 years ago) but now basically derelict and has the appearance of being run as a side-issue. As previously noted, the one attraction - the pond is a dried-up rubbish tip and the sea can just be seen if you stand on a wall. All the farm buildings adjacent the parking spaces (old worn-out gravel surfaces, full of holes and totally weeded) appear as crumbling asbestos sheds. The toilet offered was a disgrace and totally unusable and the chemical-disposal was by lifting a drain cover via a piece of twisted wire and pouring all down directly into a sewer. If there was another site near Hartlepool, I'm sure this one would be removed from the book. A CaMC inspection is seriously in need here.

Response from the Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review and we are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay on site. The CL owners have been in touch as they were concerned to read your comments as they try and ensure everyone has a wonderful time when staying on their site. They have advised that they take great pride in the appearance of the CL Site, as they do their working farm. They are a family run business with 3 generations now working together. They have invested time in the gardens, planting spring and summer bulbs and regularly maintain the site and there are also many lovely countryside walks from the site. The site is not listed as having a WC and the toilet block is not part of the CL site and not intended for use by guests. There’s no rubbish in the pond however there are nest boxes for ducks and waters hens as the owners try to encourage wildlife and nature onto their farm and CL Site. We hope this clear up any confusion and misunderstanding. The CL owners hope to greet many other people to their lovely site over the summer and continue to welcome members of the Club to enjoy their time with them.

Disapointing

Spent a weekend here which was long enough. Very basic site on a working farm. View of the sea was block bye the caravan storage, and the pond was drained with rubbish in it.Had some nice dog walks.Ok if you are going to be out all day every day and only use your van for sleeping in
