Fantastic CL

We have just had a very pleasant 5 night stay on this CL. It is very easy to find and access is good. The field itself is lovely and level with short grass. The toilet was spotless and the cdp/bins etc were very well done. There were some excellent leaflets and information available about the local area. The photos in the listing really don't do justice to the lovely surroundings. We were entertained by the resident barn own on 4 of the 5 nights which was a real treat to see. The owners were really friendly and helpfully pointed out a lovely walk just the other side of the level crossing (very infrequent, not intrusive train noise) along footpaths into a pretty country park. There are lots of other great walking opportunities in the area and our 2 dogs enjoyed themselves immensely. The Trawlers Catch in nearby Creswell sells top notch fish and chips and is certainly worth a visit.

Peaceful

Lovely peaceful site with great views of surrounding countryside. Facilities are very professional but note the water tap has a non-standard fitting so you may need an adaptor if using a hose pipe. Make sure to visit nearby Creswell Crags. It's free and will be of interest to all.

Lovely site

We were greeted on arrival and guided to a large mown field with loads of space to choose a nice pitch. Spotless facilities, wastewater tap, freshwater tap, chemical disposal, bins all very tidy. The toilet also very clean. Easy walking from the site, the owner gave us information about walks, to many locations. Lovely countryside, we will definitely return. Our only negative observation was not about the site but the neighbouring caravanners who had two dogs which ran free all the time and barked constantly from early morning to late at night.

Peaceful with lovely views

First time visit - arrived Friday bank holiday evening, access is good and easy to find if you know to turn right on the right hand bend down to their site as there isn't a sign.  Expecting to see a full field, what a surprise to see we were the only ones we expected more to arrive maybe Saturday morning but no, we had the field to ourselves, it was great! Only trouble is they locked the gate after arrival and we couldn't get back out as it needed a code which we didn't have, upside is good that the site is secure though. We were also lucky with red hot weather. The views are lovely, the site is massive so plenty of space even if it was full. They have installed a toilet and are working towards a shower. We use our own facilities on non-hookup anyway so are never fussed about toilets etc but I realise some people prefer them. The toilet disposal is very good and in the lock-up where the bins are, only downside no recycling. Mel & Dianne are lovely (and so are their dogs Beatrice and Meg), they leave you alone to enjoy your stay, no rules or regulations that you often see on some sites, they even let us pick some plums from their garden, after chatting we found out that the site had only been open around a year so still time to build up, so we wish them good luck. We walked over the fields to the nearby village of Langwith which was only about a mile or so and also to Cresswell, so plenty of walk routes locally. Some of the villages locally are a bit run-down due to the local mine closures but very friendly people. We will definitely be going back even though £10 which is a little high on the non hook-up fees (they are talking about installing hook-up though) but they do have toilet  facilities if you need them so I suppose you are paying for that. Brilliant site and fully recommend.

Second visit and we'll be back again!

We had a first visit to this new site a few weeks ago and it was terrific - very quiet and peaceful and we were the only people there! We like cycling around and this is a terrific base for all of the Dukeries area - Creswell Crags, Harley Gallery, Bolsover Castle - all within a short ride. This weekend, we went back with some caravanning friends (we have a Motorhome) and it was just as wonderful a setting, in spite of the fact that word is getting around and there were a total of three plots taken! Chemical Toilet facilities brand new and terrific, and toilet block on the way to being finished too...

Peaceful location

Stayed here last w/e for a 3 night stay. Found the location to be very pleasant, large open field, good grass, fairly level. Spoke to Mel who showed us his canal boat building operation - very interesting. He has made good use of the farm building adjacent to the CL having set up separate taps and drains for fresh/grey water, a good, enclosed elsan disposal and a loo behind the stable door. What can't this guy turn his hand to?! Loads of places to visit nearby and a good cycling area. We will take our bikes next time when, hopefully, the weather forecast will be better. We will return and enjoy this site again sometime soon.

The train line is nearby but not a noisy one, in fact an added attraction we think.
