A lovely quiet site

After a warm welcome, set up was straight forward. We spent 5 nights at this site before travelling north east across the Woods to another site to explore that area better, but if you don’t mind the extra half hour travelling you could easily visit the seaside and more places from this site. It is worth noting that the grass area seems to run as a 5 pitch CL with undefined pitches. Each ‘pitch’ has the ability to connect to a choice of two electricity (3 sockets on each) and water bollards, so you cannot connect directly up to the water tap. Again worth noting is that a couple of the natural pitches require long electric cables or extensions to reach them. We believe the owner has a spare just in case. As someone else has mentioned there are additional hard standing pitches nearer to the owners home and another small grass area next to the owners home was also being used as a pitch. So yes there are sometimes more than 5 pitches in use overall but the main grass area was quiet and only had 5 vans on while we were there. The car parking area is before the grass area ( which keeps it quiet as well as grassy) and between the hardstanding pitches. Grey waste is emptied under the trees and toilet waste is disposed of up near the house. Wasn’t an issue for us but it is a short walk, particularly from the far grass pitches. Overall the site was extremely quiet. Woodhall Spa itself is a lovely town, the deli cakes are fantastic, but we drove in rather than attempting to walk the long lane down to the main road. Whilst in Lincolnshire we also visited Lincoln, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre at RAF Coningsby, Tattershall Castle, Gunby Estate Hall and Gardens, the Walled Garden Baumber, Cadwell Park, Louth and the seaside at Sutton on Sea.

BEAUTIFUL!!!

Just returned home from a weekend on this site. Arrived Friday teatime in the sunshine and chose 1 of the 5 large grass pitches and faced the lovely open grasslands. Relaxed with a beer in total silence, pitch black at night(except for the bollard lighting). Owner made us extremely welcome and pointed out the elsan point! It's a basic site for facilities and find a tree for the grey waste!! 😂 A 20 minute walk into wood all spa which is a lovely town, great pubs too. So sad to leave the site and would return but it's an Adult only site and we generally go away with our 6 year old, so until granny and bompa have her again, Thank you for having us. You have a beautiful site.

Beautiful site

Friendly welcome to a lovely site. Quiet location with plenty of space and woodland all round. Saw Muntjac deer, nuthatch and tawny owl on site. Easy cycling along quiet roads to reach Woodhall Spa.

Lovely natural CL

A lovely CL in natural surroundings. Spacious pitches and amenities close by. Good walking and cycling tracks in the area. Everything you need available in nearby Woodhall Spa. Very friendly and welcoming owner. Our first time here but won’t be our last. Loved our four night stay here.

Wonderful site

Spectacular site as per its write up but better. Because of the sheer size and beauty of the site you get a feel that you are wild camping. The owner is really friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Peaceful.

We enjoyed our stay at Oaklea cl.Very quiet at night, just the odd call from the Owls. As others have mentioned the car parking and Elsan point we won't say more about that. We liked the recycling bins, more cl's could do this. The area is just amazing, the colours of the trees at this time of the year were lovely. We made the most of the area, visiting Boston,Horncastle the Bubble Car museum is a must,as is the Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirby.Go and see the Lancaster running it's engines. We would visit this site again, but not if the pitch price rises anymore.

Tranquility

I Initially booked this site for my daughter for a weekend stay, having seen the site I decided to book 2 more nights after my daughter departed. All credit to the owner who has created a wonderful landscape by planting many different species of trees and careful border landscaping. The site has full recycling facilities and fresh drinking water EHU are convenient situated, a slightly longer walk to empty toilet point, however it’s a chance to enjoy the garden whilst doing so. The site is a great base to cycle the many country lanes around Woodhall Spa. I can recommend this site for a quiet relaxing stay.

Good location

This site was good but could be excellent if it wasn’t for the long walk to the Elsan emptying point which is behind some trees and also we had to leave the car on a sort of hard standing well away from our van out of site which we were not really happy about. Yes we were told about the parking before we arrived but thought we would at least be able to see the car. When we were there we were not the only ones who commented on the parking situation. If you are expecting this to be a 5 van cl site this is not strictly right at one time during our visit there were 12 and at least 8 all the time. It appears to be rules for some and not for others as some where parking on the grass next to their van but we were not allowed. Also on the web site it states to use only green bio degradable toilet fluid which we did and also flushed our holding tank of the blue and pink fluid. We noticed one van which was parked next to the house actually using plain and blue but nothing was said. Don’t get me wrong this is a good site but everyone should expect the same treatment.

Outstanding

We've just returned from five nights at Oaklea (20/07-03/08/20) and we can't wait to go back again. From the minute we booked until we said goodbye, the owner, Piotr has been so helpful and welcoming; not only that, he's a walking travel encyclopedia for everything local. The site is beautifully laid out with a wide variety of trees and bushes which enhance the site. The entrance from Kirkby Lane is wide enough for the largest of Car/Caravan outfits. Access to the pitches is by way of a wide gravel driveway. The grass pitches are level and well spaced with trees/bushes providing a reasonable level of privacy. Water is easily accessed from one of the EHU/Water points and with the evenness of the site, using an Aqua Roll is not difficult. Piotr has developed several pathways amongst the trees which form the boundaries of the site and this make for a very pleasant stroll at anytime of day. There's also plenty of Birdlife during the day; Owls & Bats at Night and also Monkjack Deer at any time of the day. If you are a fan of fast jets, the RAF very kindly provide free daily fly-pasts; this weekend it was with their Typhoon strike jets (the Red Arrows currently live just down the road at RAF Conningsby but sadly were not at home this time). Access into Woodhall Spa is a gentle 20 min stroll but as there's no footpath until you reach the Cemetery, be cautious of traffic on the two sets of bends along Kirkby Lane. There's a lovely variety of shops along the main street and there's also a reasonable sized Co-Op and a slightly larger Sainsburys. Make sure to visit the 'Tea Rooms in the Woods' for great food & service in a lovely location. (NOTE: if you plan to travel into Woodhall Spa via the village of Martin on the B1191, be aware the road is closed for the next few weeks in both directions for major repair works. We detoured from Llincoln via Bardney & Stixwold). It's been a fantastic visit and made the four & a half hr journey over from The Wirral more than worthwhile. Thank you Piotr and we look forward to our next visit. Steve & Dot.

Thank you Piotr

Our first time out in our motorhome after lockdown and what a place to stay!! You can see all the hard work that it has taken over the years to make Oaklea the beautiful and tranquil place it is today. Piotr, a lovely kind man is very informative and likes a chat. I loved the pathways cut in the grass and the space to just wander surrounded by butterflies and bees. A 20min walk takes you into Woodhall Spa, which is really worth a visit. A highlight was the Lancaster Bomber flying over the site.
