Fantastic

Possibly one of the best CL/CS we have visited. Lovely welcome from Piotr and pitched in such stunning surroundings. Woodhall Spa is a gem. We went to Kinema in the woods on Saturday night. In screen 1 the old Compton organ was played in the interval. Really quirky. Will return, and it's quite a way for us.

Beautiful as always

We have just come home after another lovely long weekend at Oaklea - and really wish we could have stayed longer!  It's a couple of years since our last visit, but everything is as beautiful as it always was.  The superb weather combined with the beautiful autumnal colours, and some wonderful flying displays at the BBMF at Coningsby on Sunday made this a visit to remember.  Piotr is really welcoming, and laid back about how you pitch on site - no regimented lines of vans here.  It's only a half hour's walk into the quaint and interesting town of Woodhall Spa, but you can also get plenty of exercise in the arboretum and its surrounding woodlands.  There is lots of wildlife to enjoy and we were lucky enough to spot a muntjac on one of our evening strolls through the wooded area.  Just be warned though, if you are looking to eat out on a Monday night - a lot of the pubs and restaurants in and around Woodhall close on Mondays.  We eventually found the Abbey Lodge Inn (at Kirkstead only five minutes drive from the site) and had a delicious candle-lit meal there.  I must admit I was disappointed in the desserts - so next time we go, which we will,  I'll have a starter and a main course - couldn't fault those at all.  Oaklea is not far away from us, and is definitely our loveliest little bolt hole.

Inconsiderate!

Pmd1 if you would kindly read the past reviews you would have realised the Piotr lost his beloved wife Pamela in September 2014 and at the time of your review it is coming close to her anniversary.Piotr is one of the kindest, nicest gentleman we have ever met and could do with alot more understanding from fellow club members!

Unwelcome

Called at this site, with a view to a future booking, while staying on another site nearby. From the roadside it looked a superb site but the welcome from the owner was most unwelcoming.  Not allowed on the site to view the site and facilities, even if we left the car outside on the road. Most offhand reception. Suggested if he was more flexible with his attitude he may improve his occupancy.  Mid August just one van on a Friday night, and two on a Saturday night in a very popular area of Lincolnshire.  Perhaps he adopted a more friendly attitude he would improve his occupancy.  With the attitude displayed by the owner, for us, it is one to avoid.  There are plenty more friendly sites in the Woodhall Spa area.  Try Darwood Farm. Old Woodhall.  Oaklea may well be a beautiful site, but you also want a friendly welcome.  Surprising attitude when he is trying to run a business!!

Perfect for a relaxing break

A beautiful relaxing site situated just outside Woodhall Spa. For those who wish to walk to the village, it takes about 30 minutes. The site itself is large, with plentiful trees (see owners own website), and is served by two posts, each of which holds three electric and one water point. Grey waste can be discharged into the many shrubs and bushes in the camping area. The area is ideal for cycling with a very pleasant trail along an old railway track to Horncastle.

Beautiful

We received a very warm welcome from Piotr and we had a choice of where and how to pitch our caravan. The site is the most beautiful we have ever been to with acres of lawn, a variety of trees and a lovely view from your caravan.  You can enjoy a pleasant walk around the site or a short walk away to public footpaths. Woodhall Spa is a lovely place with excellent shops in which we received friendly service. There were some lovely places to eat and drink nearby to suit all tastes. We will definitely be going back again.

Simply the best

Agree with all the reviewers, the owner is most welcoming and the site is beautiful. If you like cycling there are traffic cycling routes, plenty of walks and culture all nearby.

Very sad

For those who have visited Oaklea before, or have still to do so but have visited the Oaklea website, please be aware that  Pamela passed away suddenly on 2nd September 2014. Piotr is thankfully carrying on with the CL. This is a gem of a site as can be seen by the reviews and Piotr is very knowledgable and will welcome you with open arms. Having visitors will help with his loss. R.I.P. Pamela, you are truly missed by all who knew you. I personally will never forget that mischievous laugh.

PEACEFUL

A fantastic site situated on a lovely grassed area surrounded by woods. The owners are very friendly and keep the site immaculate. We stayed for 14 nights.Very quiet as long as you dont mind the occasional jet, or Battle Of Britain memorial flight flying over on occasions, which is a fantastic sight to see.I cannot recommend this site highly enough we are hoping to return next year.the best CL we have stayed on.

Beautiful site

Cannot recommend this wonderful site highly enough, very quiet and secluded, best CL we have used. Pamela & Piotr very nice and helpful. We had a great 6 night stay, relaxing and reading mostly, but took in BBMF and the"Just Jane" museum only 20 minutes away, so great For all the Bomber Country attractions.  Woodhall Spa has all facilities you need. Petwood Hotel serves excellent food and Tea Rooms in village provide plenty of choice, we went into the woods and tried the one there and were not disappointed. Will return soon as lots more to see and do.
