Lovely CL

Very warm welcome,we were even given some fresh eggs to have with our next breakfast,a lovely touch. Very sloping but it didn't bother us,blocks and bricks were handy to make leveling a lot easier. Wow! the views were amazing, you could sit and watch the wildlife or the owners horses in the next field.Lovely and quiet apart from the odd car passing the site. We used the Park and Ride to get into Durham, this being a short drive from the campsite. We had a great time in the area and would come back to this site again.

Lovely site, friendly owners

We stayed here for 5 nights. The sloping did not put us off even thought the caravan looked a bit wonky! Plenty of blocks available for levelling. We were also greeted by the owners who gave us some eggs for breakfast. We found them friendly but unobtrusive. Site is well placed for seeing sights of County Durham and we were out every day seeing different places. The road is fairly quiet although some cars do go at quite a lick, which our little dog found a bit intimidating, and it is hard to walk a dog without using at least a part of the road. We would definitely go back.

Great CL and very friendly owners.

Just spent 10 nights at this CL and what an enjoyable time we had, We arrived and Mrs Gallimore met us, showed us to the site and as it was empty said we could pitch where we wanted, gave us a information leaflet and the usual 6 eggs(very tasty ) and informed us regarding fresh water, grey water etc and said if we needed anything just knock on the farmhouse door. day after Mr Gallimore came across and asked if all OK . The views from the site are excellent and all is as everyone has already said, great site and will return.

Lovely CL and lovely owners

On arrival we were welcomed by the owners who gave us an information leaflet for the surrounding areas, shop, pub, drs, etc. Just off the road but minimum traffic. Slightly sloping gravel pitches with EHU. Fresh water supply although hose needed for motorhome. CDP, recycling facility. Lovely views and peace and quiet. There are free range chickens in fenced area belonging to the owners who kindly gave 2 fresh eggs for our breakfast. Lots of attractions within easy distance. We only stayed 1 night but we will be back

Very nice

This is a very nice site with fine views. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Do not be put off by the part sloping as with care there is no problem ( Plenty of breeze blocks ect are around) It is ideally situated for all the main attractions of Durham county. Well worth a visit.

Weekend retreat

Just looking for a peaceful location to have a quick couple nights break. On arrival I was greeted by both owners, who explained that the area had a lot of rain the previous week and of i would be kind enough to use the hard standing areas. This was of no concern to myself as only ourselves on the site then we could position ourselves however it suited. Beautiful views from the site, very slight road noise during day tho not any issue, nothing on the evening. We were presented some freshly laid eggs also which went down a treat on some toast the next morning.  Lovely to find a welcoming CL close to home so will certainly be returning.

Return visit

Another very warm welcome (and a box of eggs) on our return visit at the beginning of August. We even got invited to have a glass of bubbly to celebrate Tony and Christine's silver wedding anniversary! It is not the easiest site to level a motorhome on the hard standings, but the lovely views and the friendly owners make it worthwhile. Tony even insisted on taking us into Durham and back again, so as we wouldn't have to move our motorhome and find a parking place for it. We will be back!

Such a super CL!

The CL is very easy to find and as we turned in Tony, the owner, was just cutting the grass on our pitch. He, and his wife Christine, are wonderful and welcoming and he showed us the spare blocks for the front of the 'van to help with the slope. Once we were set up we could really appreciate the amazing view and peaceful surroundings. We were given a lovely free box of eggs and they were sooo tasty! My husband rates CLs on their waste disposal areas and this was fine and kept clean. Nothing is too much trouble for Tony and Christine and they helped us to locate a shop selling gas bottles and even give us slices of cake! Just amazing! We visited Beamish, Durham and Shildon railway museum which are in easy reach of the site. We will definitely be back again!

Beautiful Site

Just spent a week on this lovely site. It is a sloping site but with a little patience we got our van perfectly level. There are plenty of blocks available for everyone to use. The views from the site are some of the best we have ever had and there are plenty of walks from the site, ideal for dog owners like us. The site is run by what are probably the friendliest site owners we have ever met. Upon arrival we were given a free box of eggs ( courtesy of the very tame chickens which roam the site ), and on our second Saturday all the occupants of the site were invited for drinks and snacks on the owners patio. It was a lovely gesture, and everyone turned up. We all spent a couple of hours talking about caravan adventures etc. We would definitely recommend this site, and we will definitely be back when visiting the area again.
