Another lovely stay

This is a really lovely C L with very helpful owners who make you feel so welcome .The site is in a lovely rural position yet within easy access of the beautiful city of Durham .The views are just so special all that a CL should be . This is our 4th stay and each time it just gets better. Thank you Christine and Tony for a lovely Holiday , it really helped us to recharge our batteries.

Another great stopover

We stayed on this CL last year and it was great. So used the site this year for a couple of nights stop. Views are fantastic but you will need to spend time getting your van levelled. Owners couldn't be more helpful.

Lovely, restful stay

Just had a 5 night stay at this lovely site.  The owners are brilliant and cannot do enough for you.  Plenty to do locally with an excellent pub within walking distance.  The views are fantastic at this peaceful site which is sloping so some time was needed for setting up but nothing excessive.

Lovely views and warm welcome

We stayed for three nights over the early May Bank Holiday weekend. We were met on arrival by Christine with a lovely gift of free range eggs from the hens pecking around our feet!  The weather was pretty awful and so the grass pitches were very soggy, but there were a couple of hardstanding pitches so it was easy for us to pitch our campervan and also easy to come and go during the day. The site is sloping so you'll need levellers, but it's not too bad. The view over the fields looking west was lovely - one great sunset on Saturday over a wet weekend!  The site is just off a small road and easy to access, although it did seem to be a bit of a rat run for speeding cars. But the birdsong was also lovely.  Our main reason to visit was to go to Seaham beach to search for seaglass - free parking at Seaham Hall car park. The site is very close to Durham city - we didn't go in but driving through it looked like a lovely place to visit.

Nice couple, friendly & great welcome

We were welcomed with a cup of tea & fresh eggs for our breakfast, whist waiting for the hard standing pitch to be vacated. Very sloping site, but with nice views. The road was quite busy next to the site. Good pub in the village serving excellent food.  Good location for Beamish.

Best welcome and help ever received on a CL!

Highly recommend for the excellent hospitality. Met us with a box of eggs just collected!Great access for Beamish Museum as they offer discount and then the pass lasts 1 yr. Reason to return! Wonderful views & tranquility. Very good pub with food in the village.

Lovely CL

All other positive comments echoed. We had a lovely 4 nights here (August 2015).  Fresh eggs on tap and delightful, friendly owners.  Do be ready to spend time levelling your unit though!!!!!!! Will be our CL of choice if back in the area.

Great Welcome

We had a warm welcome from Tony & Christine who had a box full of leaflets and a box of 6 eggs. we found the site easily enough but you do need lots of levelling blocks. it took us a while to get it straight and we used breeze blocks that were on site. It also helped that we have a motor mover. The views were great and we had 2 lovely sunsets. We did have a bit of road noise as we were up against the hedge and the other side was the road. Would come again.

Good site but shame about waste disposal

Stayed here for 3 nights mid June and despite the pouring rain we were met and greeted with half a dozen free eggs. The site is as listed on a good slope requiring leveling blocks except the pitch occupied by a caravan that is taped off and surrounded by 2 feet of grass. The site is easy to get to and great location for access to Durham. Unfortunately the waste water disposal system needs updating as the grey water disposal took an age to drain away and the chemical toilet disposal point was full to the point of over flowing. Sure this has been resolved. Worth another visit.

A Fantastic place

We stayed here last year and we have just booked again this year. The whole family are very welcoming, helpful and kind. We had car trouble last year and they couldn't do enough. We also messed up our booking and they helped us out with that too. The area is great for Beamish, Durham and the Tanfield Railway. Local people are great too. We found a fantastic pub called The Cross Keys in a local village, all I can say is WOW brilliant food and lots of it and not pricey. All in all a gem of a C L.
