Great site, lovely owners

Booked this site on Thursday evening to visit Friday, as a last minute weekend away in the camper. The weather was wild and woolly but Vera gave us a warm welcome. The site is close to the beach, and the views were amazing. We had a lovely couple of days - and will return, great place for a break. Enjoyed a visit to the Senhouse Roman Museum in Maryport which was well worth a visit.

A gem on the Solway Coast

Situated a mile from Allonby on England Coastal Path which is currently undergoing major improvements. Site has amenity block with showers and toilets. You back onto fields which had sheep and lambs during our visit. Very quiet and peaceful but easy walk into Allonby which takes about 30 minutes. 5 minutes to pebble beach. Maryport is 5 miles away and has good selection of shops.

A warm welcome awaits

A lovely CL site with a friendly accommodating owner. We stayed between Christmas & New Year the weather was wild & wet, but the the owner had a heart of gold and offered to fetch provisions from a store she was visiting if we needed. Great walk along the beach to the village (there is a footpath too), miles of sand in both directions. A quiet restful site with easy access ~ highly recommended

Perfect

We have just got back from 2 weeks at this site and if you are looking for a warm welcome, beautiful views, relaxation with only the birds, sheep and cows in the background, great places to visit and close to the lakes then we recommend old Kiln Farm. Vera and her family very welcoming and helpful if you need anything. Great sunsets and walks/cycle rides along the coast. If you like no hustle and bustle this area is great but you can find that close by if you want that. We will return.

Absolutely Fabulous

We have just had a fantastic two weeks at this absolutely fabulous C L. The family are lovely people, very accommodating and the facilities are kept immaculate. The information says no ground sheets but fully breathable ones can be used no problem. It was so peaceful and relaxing with magnificent views and outstanding sun sets. A short walk to seemingly miles of sand almost to ourselves and the sea was warm enough for a swim. Our dog also loved the walk down the quiet lane. The new shepherds hut and two pods look very tempting. Ideal of you wanted friends or family to visit perhaps. Mawbray Cheese Shed, Twentymans Ice Cream and The Codfather well worth visiting. We highly recommend this C L and we will definitely return. Thank you to Joe, Vera and Philip.

Super CL near the beach!

We had a recent weeks stay at Old Kiln Farm and have to say it was as delightful. Vera and her son, Philip are super friendly and very accommodating. We are still having to shield and they made us feel very safe. The pitches are all in a row on hard standing and they are generous in size so even with a deep awning you don’t feel too close to the next caravan. Can’t comment on the washroom as we never used it however understand it to be fully equipped. We were greeted warmly by Vera on arrival who also gave us a lovely Jubilee gift as a souvenir (tea-towel) ! A very lovely thought indeed and the site was trimmed up tastefully for the weekend to match. Fresh eggs available on site from the farm. A stones throw from the huge pebbly beach, the fells in the foreground and sheep and ducks at the rear it makes for a very tranquil setting. Our friends stayed in one of the holiday cottages and they were very happy. There are also a number of well equipped pods for hire at the bottom of the site so great for friends and family to accompany with a choice of accommodation. In summary great CL and will return in the future. Highly recommended. Thank you!

Lovely Quiet and Peaceful Site...But...

Lovely site But... we didn't know about the Strict No Groundsheet Rule. I only ever use the CAMC App for searching CL sites and it didn't state the rule about this on there. Nor was it mentioned when booking or when we arrived when talking to the owner, I only noticed it when filling up my kettle at the tap whilst we were setting up. I mentioned it to someone else and she said oh it's on the website, I wouldn't have booked it if I had known as we have a very elderly dog who loves to lay in the awning on her bed and another dog with chronic arthritis of her elbow who cannot lay on damp ground and it did rain quite a bit whilst we were there. (Someone was allowed to use a Groundsheet though that was there for a long weekend but they were a friend of the owners friends son..one rule for one and all that) Yes it is a lovely site and the owner and her son are very friendly. We walked into Allonby from the beach and called at the pub for a few drinks they welcomed my dogs. We also had a lovely Sunday Lunch at the Lowther Arms in Maurbury well worth a visit. We also visited Maryport and had delicious fish and chips from the Cross Quay Chippy so tasty not a lot in Maryport, Allonby or Silloth. We went to Keswick and Cockermouth whilst there. I wish they owners would make the Groundsheet rule know on the app as well as the website as this did spoil our holiday

Gem of a site

Lovely site, in fact our favourite site. 100 meters from a great beach, ideal for paddle boarding & kayaking when the tide is in. Ideal for dog walking. Perfectly located to visit Allonby, Silloth, Cockermouth & Keswick. An easy walk into the quintessential Allonby village which has a shop, chip shop, ice cream shop, two pubs & a tea rooms. Mawbray farm cheese shop is a must visit. We had two caravans on two pitches & our other family members stayed in one of the cottages also available, which was beautifully presented & equipped and made for a fabulous family holiday. Vera & family are lovely, very friendly & helpful. They can’t do enough for you & are always happy to chat & recommend places to visit. This was our second visit & we can’t wait to go back again.

Windy Allonby

Arrived in lashing rain. Basic CL but easy to find. Beach shingle and sand some parts easier to walk than others. Allonby very run down and Maryport/Silloth not much better. Both struggling with empty premises etc. the winds were unbelievable all week obviously not there fault. Vera was very friendly. Elsan stunk. Hardstanding pitches but very uneven. Pods and possible extra pitches being used at the end of the CL when busy plus holiday cottages. Road ran in front of CL which provided access to another commercial site further down the lane. Not for us as not much to see in immediate surrounding area

Fantastic Site

Such a lovely little site. Everything you need for a peaceful visit. The owners are so lovely. The gentleman who was covering whilst they were on holiday was also very friendly. The scenery is outstanding and the beach a very short walk away. Have friends who stayed in one of the self catering cottages and they were beautiful and well equipped. Have been twice and would definitely go again even though its 170+ miles from us znd over 4hrs to get there. Only suggestion I would make for improvement would be more toilets as there is only one in the same room as the shower so if the site is full can be a wait. Bloody lovely little site x
