Disappointed

We were disappointed, it is a shame that this cl has been negative. The photos on the club website are out dated, and do not reflect the site today. Hedges overgrown, weeds all over the large hardstanding. Grass not trimmed. The site is very near Bristol Airport so you will have planes taking off from 6.00am until 9.30pm. Please follow the clubs directions to this cl to the letter, do not trust your sat nav. Fairly steep slope off the road into the site. £25 a night a little expensive in our opinion.

Lovely peaceful CL

This is a perfect basic CL, it has everything you need, 16amp electric, water, and waste, and nothing else. The entrance was easy, so I think must have been improved since some previous reviews. The pitches are spacious hard standing, reasonably level and well drained - it rained heavily most of the time we were there and the pitches remained firm and dry. There are plenty of walks with a footpath directly from the site and there is an old railway line just the other side of Yatton where you can ride all the way to Cheddar virtually all off road. There is a little aircraft noise, but not that frequent or loud, generally the site is very peaceful. The owner Sal is very friendly. We will certainly return in the future, maybe when it is a little warmer and drier!

Despite the weather!!!!

This is a lovely peaceful site set in a lovely location for ease of access to surrounding areas! Fantastic pitches - flat and large with plenty of space between them and most importantly great drainage!!!! TV and WiFi good - necessities in the weather we had!!! The owner is lovely and could not do enough for us I would definitely return but in sunnier weather to fully enjoy our time here! The walk to the pub from the site is accessible- but again - not in the weather we have had!! It takes you across fields and streams so very nice - bit muddy this time tho!!! Thank you

Disappointing

The site was disappointing compared to the photos in the site description. It was unkempt and uncared for, weeds all over the hard standings and hedges that were long overdue for cutting. Also the access is rather rough, I thought the van would hit bottom but fortunately it did not. The location is fine for the surrounding area and we visited Wells, Cheddar, Chew Valley Lake as well as the towns on the estuary. We thought that for £20 per night we might have had a serviced pitch, so it does seem a touch expensive.

Don't let us lose it!

We stayed here at the beginning of October for 4 nights, and after the first night we had the place to ourselves. This was a return visit for us, as we had stayed in 2017 when the previous owners had just completed installing the massive, well spaced, level hardstandings that are still there. At that time it was aesthetically pleasing to the eye, very tidy and well kept. It has changed somewhat in appearance now and was a bit of a shock initially with the grass more natural and the hardstandings dotted with vegetation. On reflection though and having spoken to the new owners, it seems their ethos is more to the 'wild side' of nature which we do support and can see the reasoning, and have no problem with it. The feedback would be that this 'wild' type of CL has it's place in the MH Club network but we do feel the it is hard to justify £20.00 night, and are of the opinion it is a bit overpriced. The entrance is cosy but we managed in our 7.45 metre motorhome and have manoeuvred far worse. We would have appreciated a sign at the fork in the road to lead down to it as even though we had been before we missed it! We do feel it is an underrated and unappreciated site. Initially you can feel you are miles from nowhere, but it transpires there is an excellent bus service (either from Claverham - but less frequent - or from main road A370 (30 min walk with paths) or Yatton) but we found the train from Yatton the best. In fact, Yatton has a lot to offer (shops, pubs - Railway Inn - and can be walked across fields (possibly muddy though in times of rain) avoiding roads from the site - took us 30 mins to get to train station). From train station we went to Weston Super Mare (20 min train journey) and Bristol, and could have gone to other places such as Bath. We don't think the fantastic location to access places comes out on the previous reviews of this site and is not promoted by the owners either. An excellent alternative to Baltic Wharf. Yes, you are under the flight path of Bristol airport but we enjoyed watching the airplanes and yet again we have stayed at much noisy CLs as it is only planes and distant trains - certainly no road noise. The owners came to check we were okay on our first day and were very friendly and welcoming. We sadly suspect that their long term plans for location might not include continuing with the CL site, it would be a great loss and members should give it a go if they are of the kind that appreciate the less regimented all whistles site and can swallow the price.

Peaceful but needs improvement

Peaceful 3 night stay, but we were the only people there! This is currently not a £20 per night site however with improvements it has the potential to become one. The main issue is the entrance, access is approached from a narrow single track lane with a sharp right turn into a very steep rough potholed driveway. We could not get in, the caravan bottomed out so we had to unhitch and use the movers to get the caravan up the steep slope and still it scraped all the back end of the caravan. The new owners either need to widen and level off the slope to the entrance or limit the length of caravans and Motorhomes they allow on site. The pitches have EHU but are not fully serviced which you would expect for £20, however they are large and fairly level gravel hardstanding with a grass patch each. Enquired about the Wi-Fi but was told there is a problem so not available at the moment but no offer of reduction in price to reflect this. Had we been aware of the condition of the entrance we would not have visited the site, I did advise the owners of the length of the caravan when I enquired about availability but was not advised of the problem. This issue does need addressing immediately to prevent damage to members outfits. We have not yet been able to fully assess the damage caused to our caravan from this entrance. Hopefully the new owners will put the time and effort into the improvements required to bring this site up to the standards required by a £20 per night site as it is peaceful and spacious and well located for visiting attractions.

wonderful site

Spent 5 nights at orchard bank beginning of august on our return from cornwall. Very welcoming owners and beautifully kept site. Even received a refund at the wifi was down. Would be 5 stars all the way but I suppose the aircraft noise would annoy some people, we like aircraft spotting anyway. Will definitely use this site again.

Delightful site

A really lovely site - largely peaceful - especially in the dead of night. Noise from the nearby airport is a minor niggle but it wouldn't stop me coming. The friendly, flexible and welcoming owners (Charles and Diana!) are very easy to deal with and very responsive by email. Great for exploring the North Somerset coast (Clevedon, Weston-s-Mare etc). Excellent cycle path (the Strawberry Line) in nearby Yatton - safe off-road, and goes all the way to Cheddar. A very pretty ride on a good surface. Easy access to Bristol, too. We loved it here and would not hesitate to book and stay again. Good directions provided - although our Satnav took us pretty much to the door using the recommended route.

Pleasant weekend

I booked in by phone and Diane emailed me very good directions to the site including relevant photos on route. Charlie welcomed us on arrival and Diane came later with a welcome pack with all the details of services in the area. The site is clean tidy and well laid out with 5 large almost level hard standing with gravel surface, 2 water taps, one in each paddock. There is quit a lot of aircraft noise due to the close proximity of Bristol airport and also the railway runs near by, but no flying at night. the position of the site makes it ideal for visits into Bristol only taking 25minuits to city entre by car. This is a lovely site and I will certainly use it again for my next weekend visit to Bristol.
