Winter walking

Efficient and easy booking all by email. Good easy to follow instructions. Site easy to find with good access, we have a big twin axle, can pull off the road before needing to open the gate. Open site, with good views all round, partly sloping and 3 hard standings. Easy access to water, rubbish and chemical disposal all by the barn, and all by using tarmac path. So good site for the winter. Very quite and really dark at night. It's near the train track, but this is not an issue, I did not even notice the trains during the day when busy chatting or listening to other things, train frequency reduces over night and if you happen to be awake you might hear the low drone of the approach and departure, a bit like a gust of wind. The electric was only 10amp but our caravan was able to manage that with the occasional gas boost when the night temperatures dropped below freezing. We did three really good walks from the site using the OS footpaths. Recomend the Thaymar Ice Cream & Tearoom.

Excellent site

Used this site as a stopover on our way home to Norfolk from Scotland as it is very convenient being only a mile off the A1. Comprehensive information was emailed prior to our visit. The pitches are very well spaced and there are lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Didn't get a chance to explore the local area apart from a very nice dog walk just down the road from the entrance. Set on a working farm, this is a very welcome addition to the CL network and we can thoroughly recommend it.

Lovely setting

Really happy we found this CL. The location from main roads is ideal but far enough away so no traffic noise, good access onto the CL, wide entrance and secure gate. We had a lovely meal at the local pub just a short walk from the campsite and will definitely return to explore the area more. We were made to feel very welcome with good communication and information after booking, Roger was always available on the farm and was very friendly. Lovely views from the campsite and the hard standing pitches were perfect for us in a heavy motorhome. Good tv and mobile phone reception. Looking forward to coming back for a return stay.

Lovely local site

A belated review as I stayed here with my daughter for 2 nights during October half term 2021. It is very local to where we keep our caravan so ideal for a quick getaway with minimal travel. Easy to find and a well laid out site and communication from the owners was fantastic. On the doorstep of Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park so great for adventures. We were welcomed by Sara and Roger and despite the weather had a lovely stay. Will definitely be visiting again.

Well positioned new CL

This is a brand new CL, which is easily located from the A1, and the welcome we received from the owners for our last minute booking was very friendly. It has lovely countryside views, and a nice looking pub within easy walking distance (not tried). Facilities all brand new and easily accessed. Chemical disposal rinse tap is from a water butt, well separated from the drinking water.

Beautiful rural stay

We have stayed twice now at Orchard Hill Farm and love this new CL site and will definitely be returning. You'll find it down a country lane going into the picturesque North Nottinghamshire village of Askham, this CL provides a peaceful 5 pitch retreat with far reaching views which would be perfect for friend and family get togethers. Sara and Roger's instructions proved helpful as we found our way around the simple site. Its a working farm so we took care about where our daughter played but she had a great time, especially collecting sloe berries on our walk down to the village pub. Would recommend for couples and families and think it provides a perfect A1 stop off point due to its proximity to the Markham Moor junction of the A1 (5 minutes). We shall definitely be returning and wish to thank the owners for opening up a new CL we can add to our local favourites list. Am

Lovely CL

We were one of the first to stay at this newly opened CL. It’s very easy to find by following the site owners directions, and access was easy. ( we have an 8ft wide twin axle) Take note of the instructions of how to open security gate Roger and Sara were not on site when we arrived, but not a problem as we had instructions emailed to us beforehand. We pitched up on one of the 2 grass pitches (other 3 are H/S) The pitches are slightly sloping but not a bother for us. Sara and Roger are a lovely friendly couple, and came to check we were settled in ok, and that we knew where everything was. Dog walking off site a few yards up the quiet road onto a footpath with miles of walking. A casual 10 min ish walk takes you into the village where we had a gorgeous meal in the Duke William! We only had a weekend there but booked to go back again for another chill out weekend - and to say hello to Paddy and Lola the ponies !
