We stayed here just after Easter. It's a lovely site with everything you need (if you are self-contained). There is drinking water, a grey waste drain and an Elsan disposal point. Easy walk down the lane to Whitby Abbey and the town. Very friendly owners. Perfect for what we needed. We'll be back!
5 Star site. Amazing !!!
This site is perfect. Pitches are far apart, beautiful views, quiet and amazing, welcoming owners that have thought about everything to make your holiday perfect. Will definitely come again. Thank you Jo

First Rate CL site
This is our second stay at Poverty Cottage within a month. Jo could not anymore welcoming, first class hosts. Amazing walks from site and a quick drink at the Whitby Brewery before heading back to motorhome. View amazing and site is clean and tidy.
Thanks Jo for a wonderful stay.
This site is what a quality CL should be
We wanted a peaceful, well maintained site with good views and easy access to the coastal path. We got all those, and a warm welcome too. We like to use local buses where possible. There is a good bus route about 20 minutes walk down a quiet road. Highly recommended. (And if you like a beer or two, I agree with other reviews - try the wonderful Brewery close to the wonderful Abbey)

Superb site and friendly hosts
We stayed at Poverty Cottage site for 4 nights in August. Received a very friendly welcome from the couple and showed us to our pitch. The views across to Whitby Abbey are lovely with various walks to local attractions including Whitby, The Abbey, Robin Hood's Bay and the local supermarkets!
We would definitely stay here again if near Whitby as of the 4 sites we stayed on our trip (Bamburgh down to Whitby) this was the best.

Little Gem
What a little gem of a site, Jo and Stuart made us feel very welcome and were happy to share local knowledge.
Kept to a very high standard
Lovely CL.
We were fortunate to find a vacancy for the night we needed. It's small but beautifully kept and well managed with friendly hosts. What more do you want in a CL?
Highly recommended.

One of the best
What a lovely, absolutely immaculate CL with amazing views across the fields and of the Abbey. This was our first time at this site and we were so impressed we just had to book for another visit later in the year. Great location for walking into Whitby, the Abbey and of course the Brewery. Or out of the back gate and across the field to get to Sainsbury's, Aldi and an Iceland store and also a bakers. Easy access to the Cleveland Way coastal path and to Robin Hoods Bay. One of my absolute favourites is Falling Foss (waterfalls) which is only 10 minutes by car and then a fantastic walk through the woods and a coffee shop in the woods with brilliant bacon butties.
If anybody goes into Whitby for the fish and chips, Trenches was fantastic. A lovely weekend at an amzing site, run by lovely people to top it off. What more could anybody ask for.😀
Great CL
We stayed here for 4 nights in February. Great little CL that has 3 pitches, hard standing in winter and grass in summer. Amazing views of Whitby and the Abbey. Easy access to the coast path to Whitby in one direction and Robin Hoods Bay in the other. Facilities include grey waste, Elsan disposal, fresh water and EHU (10 units per night - more than enough) All facilities spotless. Excellent communication from Jo. Would highly recommend!
Lovely stay
Lovely site, beautiful views, clean, spacious pitches, a friendly welcome from Jo. Dog walk from the site. What more could you want.
