Jem of a CL

Port Arthur Farm certainly justifies the great reviews it receives and its 2nd place CL of the year 2016. Stayed for 3 nights (2 - 5 Oct 2017) in our motorhome to be greeted by Graham who showed us around the available facilities - they really are of a very high standard. Shower room with washbasin, loo and walk in (large) shower. There is also a separate loo in the block and a wash area for pots etc. All were well maintained and exceptionally clean. We parked up on one of the hard standing pitches with hook up. Water top up, brown water disposal and Elson point also available on site. Great location for getting in to Knaresborough & Harrogate - for those not wishing to walk there, serviced by a regular bus service (stop is only 600 yards away) Very tranquil, great walking from site. A must - the Guy Fawkes Arms in Scotton (20 minutes walk) Fantastic menu and food, great hosts (must book in advance)

Fantastic little CL!

Booked this site as a stopover on my way back from a festival. My sister lives in Knaresborough so I needed somewhere nearby which took dogs and had electrics after several days without. The reviews are amazing and the site lives up to every one of them. It was easy on arrival, although I wasn't sure whether to just pitch or whether to hunt for someone first -a sign at the gate would have helped. This info was available in the info hut but I was stressed after a long drive and not thinking straight. After chatting to friendly visitors, I pitched up and Graham turned up shortly after. He was super helpful and I couldn't believe how good the facilities were as he showed me round. Beautiful shower-room/ toilet, spotlessly clean and more like your bathroom at home than on a site. Oh and a spare toilet in case someone is hogging the shower! The field is spacious and immaculately mown - 3 hardstandings and I was on grass. Graham invited me to walk anywhere round the farm fields and to let the dogs run as he didn't have any stock in any of them. I did this the following morning -and got hopelessly lost, all adding to the fun! I would love to come here again and spend a bit of time chilling in the field, watching the sun go down, with leisurely visits to Knaresborough, York and Harrogate in between. I was lucky to get a pitch as they are very booked up -no wonder!

Stay at Port Arthur Farm CL.

This is a fantastic CL site in a tranquil setting with all the facilities and more you require. Vicki and Graham are very friendly and go out of their way to help you if they can. The site has a good sized shower room and separate toilet for people to use along with a washing up area and recycling. The grass is immaculately manicured almost good enough to be a bowling green. Overall an amazing site. We will be back.

Fantastic cl

This must be 1 of the best cl.sites we've stayed on. The cl is a great size with both hard standing and grass where graham keeps the grass immaculately. Both Vicki and graham were fantastic hosts, meeting us on arrival and showing us where everything was including the great shower and toilet. We will definitely be returning. Thanks for a fantastic stay Debbie and wayne

Best CL we've been to, thoroughly deserves award

We had already planned to visit Port Arthur based on the reviews before we heard they had won the 2nd place award. Having just spent 5 days there, I can say that it totally lived up to expectations. The owners' description of it on this website is very helpful and accurate. It is indeed very spacious, with both a large grass field and hardstandings. The grass is superbly mown, and we were happy to lift our breathable groundsheet as requested to keep it looking good. Being a nearly new CL, the facilities are excellent in every aspect, including the shower. We received a warm welcome from Vicki and Graham, who must be very proud of the investment they have put in to make this such an outstanding site. Amazingly too, our week coincided with glorious sunny weather.

Fantastic Break - 26 May 2017

Second stay at this wonderful site, so peaceful and beautifully maintained. The owners Vikki and Graham are so welcomig. We had a problem when a storm arrived and damaged our awning, they could not do enough for us, they called us while we were out and came to pick us up and Graham helped us sort everything out. Vikki also kindly gave us a lift into town the next day. We cannot thank them enough and look forward our stay for New Year. Thanks again Chris n Bob X

We'll be back!!

Unfortunately Vikki was not able to greet us on arrival as they had gone away themselves for the weekend, but she did leave a welcoming committee. Doris (as we named her) the chicken followed us up the steps of the washroom to say "hello" and was there again Sunday morning to make sure we were awake - even coming into the camper van! A lovely, peaceful and clean site with the new washroom a wonderful asset. It's worth going back just for that! The local Guy Fawkes pub was recommended for evening meals, but unfortunately we were unable to get a table. We did however drive for a couple of miles into Arkendale and discovered The Blue Bell, which we can thoroughly recommend. The food was delicious and reasonably priced and the chocolate orange fondant dessert is to die for! We will definitely be back to Port Arthur as it's well situated for lots of places of interest and anyway we promised Vikki we would come back when we had our new motorhome.

A definite CL of the Year contender

I can only echo others' comments about the qualities of Port Arthur Farm. Vicki & Graham are great hosts. Huge credit to them for how they have developed their lovely CL, including choice of grass and hardstanding, spacious pitches, the wonderful amenities block, tranquility and ease of access. Our only frustration, which is not within their control one jot, was lack of 3G/4G connectivity on O2 (am now in the market for one of those wifi extender doobries). It wouldn't stop us going back at all however. Overall, a great site, which with its undoubted growing reputation, will need to be booked well in advance.
